Unfortunately, this was our last visit to B-52 Burgers and Brew. We just don't feel comfortable taking a chance on this place anymore. It was such a great place to eat, that we feel sad that this is no longer the case.
After waiting quite a while for service after getting seated. We felt that we should have just left and called it good. Maybe we would have tried to come back another day.
To start the meal, we ordered the Classic Buffalo Dip. The best thing about this dis is the tortilla chips. We couldn't taste anything except buffalo sauce. The chicken was shredded so small that it was literally only something you could feel with your mouth, rather than see it. The tortilla chips were nice and crisp without being salty or too weak to use for the dip.
He had The Mushroom Gouda and I made the terrible mistake of ordering The Truffle Shuffle. We both asked for "pink" or medium rare burgers. Neither of them arrived that way.
For The Mushroom Gouda, there wasn't really any flavor, and the burger was overcooked. The aioli appeared only on sight, not in the taste of the compilation.
The Truffle Shuffle was TERRIBLE. There was absolutely no taste to the burger, which was also overcooked. If I ate the components separately, I could taste them. Together, everything went away. I wasn't expecting the pancetta to show up cubed on the burger. I would have thought that slicing it would sufficiently have it serve as the bacon stand-in it is meant to be. I've never seen pancetta cubed before. Even the roasted red peppers showed up by eye only and not in flavor.
We also requested Garlic Fries to accompany the burgers. We used to LOVE these fries. They are no longer really garlic fries. There was very little garlic present. You have to pay extra for fries now, which further aggrieved us. We weren't sure about how "seasoned corn chips" go with burgers.
The service issues that started the meal remained throughout and it took longer than we'd have liked to finally get our check and get out of there. I really hate to say goodbye to places I have loved. I'd rather that my good memories remained intact, rather than having this situation occur.
