B-52s American Bar & Grill

My first visit and we loved it. Went on a weekday night. Not crowded. Loved the atmosphere of old military memorabilia and theme. A lot of seating at tables and the bar. Friendly atmosphere and family friendly. We ordered the BBQ egg rolls, amazing. We also ordered the wings~ WOW!! Best wings I’ve had in a long time. We asked for them to be crispy and they came to us perfect. I highly recommend B-52’s. Great and friendly service and awesome food.

We visited the restaurant yesterday for the first time while visiting family (this is a favorite of theirs though). I had the Claymore chicken plate and my husband had the fish and chips. Portions were huge and the food tasted great. My only complaint was the breading for the chicken was extremely salty. I had to ask for some dipping sauce to make it more edible sine I couldn't stomach it by itself. But the seasoning blend was great otherwise and that's why I'm not deducting a star for the over saltiness.

After being in Newton for a few months, finally got around to trying B-52s American Bar & Grill. So glad to finally go because it was great! We ordered our food to go and it was ready as soon as we arrived. Food tasted great. We went with a Chef Salad and the Claymore Chicken Sandwich.

This was a great atmosphere. We felt right at home. The marine burger was excellent. Meat was tender and juicy! With house made pub chips cooked perfectly. Drinks and food are priced very fairly! Manager on duty took the time to come out and speak to us about our dinner and experience. Truly enjoyed this experience all around the board!

My wife and I have made B-52s our go-to spot for great food. Every visit, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is excellent. My favorite dish is the Smash Burger, while my wife enjoys the sides—especially the Mac n' Cheese, Broccoli, and the tasty House Salad. We visit several times a month and live about 20 minutes away in Denver. We always enjoy our time in downtown Newton!

First time we were looking for a place different with great food came across B-52s on line placed an order for pickup. Excellent food and price, never even knew it existed. My bad definitely will be back. Thanks, hope its consistent.

We tried this restaurant today. Food was great. Service on the other hand was less than 1 star. It took us 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Appetizers came out pretty quick, but we asked for a sauce for it and NEVER got it. When entrees came, our drinks were empty and our waitress said she would get us refills. We completely finished our food with empty drinks and NEVER received our drinks. She finally came to the table and asked if we wanted to-go drinks… and then it took us another 10-15 minutes for her to pick up our card to pay.

Great place to eat! Nice atmosphere and a tribute was to Service Men and Women. Food was reasonably price, fresh and delicious. Our waitress and the rest of the staff were super friendly and helpful. There is a bar for drinks and live music on the weekends. We had about a 30 minute wait, but there is a nice waiting area inside, if there is room. The fried pickles were some of the best we have had anywhere.

I had lunch at B-52's American Bar & Grill while in Downtown Newton. The restaurant was recommended to me and B-52 is a Veteran themed bar and has tributes on the walls to those members who served. Service was friendly here and I was given a choice of a seat at the bar; a high top or low top table. My waitress was very friendly and kept checking in and brought me more tea and even a cup to go. The menu is large with typical bar foods. I went with the fish and chips that were on special and it came with two sides so I did fries and mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was delicious and even came with extra cheese on top. The portion of fries and fish was generous but I didn't know I would be getting fish sticks. So it wasn't what I was expecting. Only a fork was provided in the napkin when a knife would have been useful. The prices were reasonable too. If I make it back this way again I'd stick with the burger next time.

Great wings, egg rolls also very good. Burgers looked great but tried a chicken sandwich.

While at the Novel Taproom, my family ordered an appetizer, and three meals. All were delivered without silverware or ranch for the salad or fried pickles. Disappointing. Luckily, the taproom had silverware.... Almost $70 worth of food.

While on a road trip with my 18 year old son we were hungry. We looked on yelp for options near us and well options for this little quant town are limited. We those this restaurant strictly based on its name. What a wonderful delight it turned out to be. A very nice atmosphere with such a small town, family feel. The service was top notch! Very quick to greet and seat us. There were just enough options to choose from without getting overwhelmed with a large menu. I ordered the wings, although I am not a fan of large wings they were still quite tasty. They are on the larger side, but they are really tasty my son on the other hand, he ordered the Smashburger and he devoured it, He was unable to eat the three ginormous, hush puppies that came with it! The portion sizes were great. The food was great. Our favorite part of our meal was our appetizers the cheese logs they are huge warm, gooey and delicious. We cannot wait to go back.

First of all Liz was a great server. The place has a few craft beers, typical pub food served hot and promptly. Nice, casual atmosphere and easy street parking. Reasonable pricing.

This is my favorite restaurant. The bartenders are well-versed and very friendly. The food is always fantastic and changes with the season. It's good American bar food and great dinners and lunches. The owner is extremely friendly and very present. They have walls dedicated to local veterans, and it's very respectful.

It was delicious! Especially the green beans. I ordered the hamburger steak topped with grilled onion, pimento cheese and a big serving of pulled pork with 2 sides. I chose green beans and French fries. I brought more than half home. Even good heated up in the toaster oven the next day!

Service is exceptional! I encourage everyone to try the cheese sticks, or the BBQ egg rolls, they are amazing. Very clean and modern. Small home town restaurant where everyone makes you feel at home.

Stopped in for a quick bite, bartender Jennifer was amazing!!! only bad part is that she left at 3!! She was personal, talkatove, friendly, and gave us great advice on appetizers and menu! The B-52 egg rolls were delicious!! Tried the Bold Rock Blackberry Cider, deadly. Went down as if i was funneling!!! Coming back for the company and egg rolls, beer is a bonus!!! Jennifer made amazing drinks!!!

Great atmosphere delightful service good food fair prices I'll be there again soon paying respect is under appreciated and they do it and my family and I fans for the long haul

Oh man I had the most perfect burger here last Friday .......I was actually moaning. Every restaurant seems to be hit and miss lately. They try really hard.

Update: Their Marine Burger, (aka as a Carolina Burger) was outstanding. The perfect amount of slaw, chili and onions. A big improvement! Everything was cooked to perfection! Thanks B52's for your service!

Our first time to this restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience. We sat at the bar, which, by the way, is absolutely beautiful. We had great service from the bartenders and our meal was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

After a day of furniture shopping at the Hickory Furniture Market we were ready for food and a brew. Hubby was delighted with the quality of the BBQ, and called it "really good" moist and flavorful. We are bbq snobs. He also was impressed with the slaw saying it some of the best slaw he has had. Whatever they put in the house bbq sauce was great. I got the catch of the day, lucky me tuna. Charbroiled rare was very yummy. My little side salad was made to order. I absolutely loved the peach cider on draft. It was wonderful. Great service, fun atmosphere. I would make a special trip to Newton to go again.

Great food and awesome draft's selection! My only complaint is it did take a little bit of time to get our food but it's well worth the wait!

One of the things that is unfortunate is that they don't offer call ahead ordering. Their menu is online, and for me to drive there, eat, and make it back to the office on time is difficult. So sadly I'm not able to eat here anymore.

My first time in Newton. Had a great lunch at B52. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and of course the food. I would recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. Definitely worth a visit.

Good food mostly sandwich's I have had BLT the pimento cheese and the chicken salad sandwich's all good l like the loaded tater tot's as my side

We visited this restaurant on Wednesday around 12:30pm. Cute place, just past the downtown square. Parking is OK, there are several parallel spots and a small lot beside, too. We walked in and there were a fair amount of people already eating lunch, but not full for sure, plenty of tables open. We stood in the doorway for several minutes before anyone came over to greet us. She sat us down and gave us menus and then we waited...and waited..for our server to come by. Three or four came by on their way to different tables, but no one would even make eye contact with us. I got the distinct impression they were annoyed we were there. As we were about to leave, the bartender came over and saved the day. She took excellent care of us after that snafu and allowed us to enjoy our meal. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, which she let me taste first. It was pretty good, but I did get a little tired of the green peppery crunch after awhile. The fries I chose as my side were really good! They have a coating that gets very crispy and extra flavorful. My son got the B-52 Burger and Bacon Mac and Cheese. The burger was pretty good, he loved the barbecue on it, but said he'd try something else next time. The Mac and Cheese was ok, but nothing special. He liked my fries better. The one thing that is extra special about this establishment is their "Wall of Heroes" that they allow patrons to post pictures of their veteran loved ones. There are some really great vintage photos and it is such a nice gesture. I may take a picture of my dad back when we visit again. The food for us was a solid 3 stars, the veteran's wall is 4 stars and the service from the ignoring waitresses was 1 star. The bartender who picked up their slack and treated us so kindly totally redeemed the experience and merits another visit. I will update at that time if we have a different experience.

Great local spot! Good food and great atmosphere in little Newton, NC! Met the owner on Friday night and he was a pleasure to speak with and the staff was very accommodating. They forgot to come get us of the back patio when it was our turn to be seated but they tried to make up for their mistake. The cheesesticks were massive and very tasty! Love they have a grilled wing option for those of us not wanting to eat a salad every meal. Will definitely return!

Excellent place to eat if you're in the Newton area. They have a nice variety of menu items. A full bar. And usually some good music.

Excellent lunch today. That Private Flatbread is amazing. The two servers (one also being the bartender) working today was doing awesome meeting the needs of ALL the customers with it being that busy. Those two definitely deserve a big shout out!

Great bar and grill in the heart of Newton. We had the B 52 egg rolls- delicious! We also split a 3-cheese & bacon grilled cheese along with some tasty Mac n cheese! Really good- the mac was creamy and the sandwich hit the spot. They also had some decent drink specials.

Such a gem in Newton! Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some yummy food, excellent drinks and a unique bar setting! Their weekly specials will have us visiting again for sure! The wings were great and the lemon pepper dry rub was finger licking good! The bartender was fabulous and made our late afternoon lunch a hit! She had us in stitches laughing! We will be back for sure!

Too expensive for the what you get. Food was ordered out for lunch. Flavor was okay, nothing that was mouth watering.

I'm so glad, I finally decided to visit this gem. I live just a few minutes from this restaurant. I've put off visiting there. Sadly I regret this. This place is amazing. The food was beyond what I imagine. Delicious doesn't begin to describe it. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and great. They were very busy and didn't phase her. The bartender was very knowledgeable snd fast. All and all this place is wonderful. Not to mention josh perryman was awesome

When we travel we look for local places to eat, so we were really excited when we came across B-52s. We loved the vibe. A vide that honored our veterans and celebrate locals- what a great combination. The menu items have military names, which was really cool. As a military family we really appreciated the salute. We started our meal with: Foxtrot Fried Pickles and Freedom Fries- we enjoyed both of them. For dinner I had the Old Soldier Club sandwich on white toast with a side of the B-52 mac & cheese. It was a lot of food!! Jenni had the B-17 Burger with fries. Again it was a lot of food. We both enjoyed our meals. There were lots of other items that were on the menu, so we will have to plan another trip to Newton. We thought the service was great. We were excited to meet one of the owners- Mitch Ball. He came by the table and chatted about the history of B-52s and about future plans they have. We enjoyed our dining experience at B-52s. We think if you are a Newton, NC local you really need to support this business. If you are visiting the area, this really should be a stop for your lunch or dinner.

We were looking for a place to have lunch on our way from Asheville to Raleigh and this place came up. It was perfect and Tyler was so warm and friendly and delightful too. Great food and drink!!

We popped over to B-52s based on the recommendation of a local acquaintance. We were quite surprised to see the place completely packed, including at the bar, no distancing, no masks anywhere, including among employees, and told it would be a 30 minute wait at least because she had a big group coming in with a reservation. No thanks, I'll find somewhere else to take my dollars.

Hi! I am Chef Dcue. First time at B52s. I decided to have lunch with my family on a Saturday Morning. We ordered burgers, wings and sandwiches. Food was tasty and well seasoned. I like that they honor military, nice atmosphere and all American vibe to the place.

My Husband and I were shopping in Hickory and decided to find somewhere we have never been to try. This popped up on Yelp . We are so glad we decided to try it. Everything for the atmosphere, our waitstaff Sarah, the food, and prices were beyond wonderful. We live an hour and a half away but next time we are in the area we will be back. We have already told several friends to try it out. B52 you know what you are doing and truly care it shows in the experience.

Decent food for Newton and reasonably priced. However, the service is VERY slow. It needs the owners attention to light a fire under his employees.

This is a very attractively renovated space. The bar in particular is gorgeous. However the restaurant is very loud when full. There are no noise-dampening surfaces. And it's extremely bright. Good beer menu. The food is weighted toward burgers, sandwiches, wings and such. The wings were good, but the Atomic bomb sauce (described on the menu as "spicy Asian" -- really? A Hiroshima/Nagasaki A-bomb joke on the menu?) is not remotely spicy, if the wings in our sampler were correctly sauced. (We did not order the cheese fries in our sampler, but we got them anyway. The cheese was mostly nacho cheese, but the bacon bits were good.) The pork barbecue egg rolls are OK, very dense, not smoky -- they will fill you up fast. We will be back to try some more.

We went in. Server seated us. very nice lookin place. Then there was a 10 minute wait getting a waitress to take our drink order. Give us a menu. then another long wait to take our order. Then another long wait to get our food. My husband ordered a Ribeye. It was dry and tough. A poor cut of steak. No flavor. totally disappointing. I got a BBQ plate. It was the same, very dry. Even the bbq sauce was not good. I got some pub chips that was good. When we was finished we had to WAIT again. Then go get a waitress to bring our check. Then more waiting for someone to come get our money to pay. .Then a very long wait, No one brought our change. The bartender or manager got a attitude because we ask for our change. . Then we had words. sorry place to go waste your money.

Phenomenal food. Their chicken salad is amazing. Great service. Easy curb side pick up and great selection of beers on draft.
