B & B Villa Fortezza

Our family of 9 stayed at villa Fortezza recently. The position , service and rooms were fantastic . Salvatore the host cooked a lovely breakfast every day and was very accommodating with our requests . The villa sits high above the historical centre of Ascoli and is a 10 min walk to piazza del popolo. Highly recommended

An authentic B&B where you can still find a real delicious breakfast with local products, served by Salvatore the owner of the Villa, and his very kind collaborator Omar. The villa located on the slope of a hill, between magnificent trees in a huge garden, near a medieval tower and the Romans vestige of the Porta Pia fortress, enjoys a unique view of the city of Ascoli Piceno. Instead, inside the spaces of life and the rooms are an infinite "Cabinet de Curiosité", where to get lost between art works, books, objects, and vintage furniture. In fact, Salvatore is first of all a collector and an artist, who loves to share his passion for beauty and good food with his guests.

We loved our stay. Salvatore could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The property is charming and unique, high on a hill overlooking the city. Breakfast was served in the garden with such delicious treats and was beautifully served. One thing to note is that the walk into town is beautiful and fun but is a bit of a trek back up if you have mobility issues. It was a memorable stay.

What a pleasant surprise! We were looking for any B&B in Ascoli Piceno and picked Villa Fortezza arbitrarily. The bedrooms were nice, the mattress firm the pillows fluffy but the location and view and Salvatore's (the owner) charm and the eccentricity of the house that makes this a special place. His breakfasts were extended and delicious with local sweets and dishes. His English limited but certainly functional (he offered great suggestions for local travel and sites to see). There are steps that take one down to the city center but there are hundreds so some level of fitness is required. All in all, a great experience and great B&B!!

Salvatore is a great host, his warm hospitality is overwhelming. Excellent breakfast. Nice location quiet with great views. The stairs to the city (435 steps) are easy going down and doable going up. All in all this b&b is something completely different. We can recommend this ‘experience’ to anyone: just enjoy! Grazie Salvatore!!

This was not my first trip to Villa Fortezza and i would return straight away! This is a really special place - a beautiful setting with a panoramic view of the city below in the valley. |This is a really comfortable stay - lovely room and great bed - and then the best part is the breakfast- really well thought out and lovely locally sourced ingredients make this a real experience- delicious. |The host Salvatore is perfect - together with his staff help Omar they will go out of their way to make sure that you have all that you need. |Really the ideal place to stay.

Villa Fortezza is an experience you are not likely to easily forget. Its proudly takes its place amongst those holiday memories that will linger in your mind for years to come and pop up every time anyone starts talking about Italy. Villa Fortezza, in all its "strangeness", is made of exactly the same intangible material as dreams... Villa Fortezza is not about the size of your room or whether the window shutters close exactly as you would expect in a five star hotel. It is about the smile on your face when you drive up to it from underlying Ascoli Piceno, the feeling of being of regal descent just for an instant, when having breakfast under the centenary pine trees in the lavish garden, the sense of tranquility when being told "the latest news of the neighbourhood" through the purring of your hosts' beautiful cats. It is that sense of accomplishment, when you remain with open mouth before the vast library on the first floor, hosting Ibsen to Manzoni and Homer to futurist anti-clericalists, Plato to Sartre. Or that sense of being part of "the greater scheme of things" when exploring the enormous, erratic, sometimes lyrical and sometimes right out crazy, art collection throughout the property - inside and out- obviously the result of 'compulsive cultural hoarding', in the best sense of the words.||Having said that - the house is ALSO well equipped, the rooms have beautiful new bathrooms, finely decorated by artist and interior decorator Federica, the female component of the hosts. The beds are great. The position of the villa itself is absolutely stunning: from both your room and the garden, you overlook the entire city of Ascoli Piceno. Straight out of the private garden your reach a several hundred steps long travertino stair that will take you to the center of medieval Ascoli in minutes (mind you, after dinner, on a hot summer night, the climb back up is certainly more challenging...). Your host, Salvatore, the male part so to speak, fits the picture 100%. He is a perfect host - emotional, romantic, at times a bit dreamy, bon vivant, looking to please you exactly in the way he thinks pleasure should come about. His breakfasts are no breakfast, they are 4 course feasts. His concerns about making you feel comfortable and at home are genuine.

Salvatore is the best air bnb host I have had the pleasure of staying with. I have family in Italy and he let them come visit and use the pool. I also work in social media and had a photographer come to the house to work with me and he was very welcoming and let us shoot even in his own house on the property. He makes breakfast for you in his garden every morning which was delicious!! The views of the city from his house are amazing. The atmosphere at this air bnb is very peaceful and relaxing. It is very eco-friendly and the architecture is beautiful. I will 1000% be staying here again. Salvatore is very easy going and such a kind soul. I don’t consider him as just an air bnb host, i now consider him as a friend that I want to come back and visit all the time🤍
