The Best Beach Bars in the Caribbean

"Thanks to a sizable yachting community, beach-bar hopping between islands is a favorite pastime on the British Virgin Islands. And while there are many sandy watering holes to choose from, the undisputed king of the BVI scene remains the circa-1970s Jost Van Dyke legend: the Soggy Dollar Bar. Anticipate having a few rounds of rum-forward Painkillers—the drink was supposedly invented here—and complete the rite of passage by swimming to shore to pay with soggy dollars (though today’s bar tabs may require soggy twenties or hundreds)." - Paul Rubio

We stopped in with a group of 11. The pain killers we had here were best we had in the BVI and I had them at 6 other places across the islands, including the original. My jerk chicken was amazing and everyone else in our group enjoyed their food as well. I will make a point of going back. Food timing was on par with everywhere else we ate and the service was awesome.

Amazing little place you can only get to via boat / dinghy. Beautiful water and laid back. Only one other couple there when we stopped. Will be going again!

Awesome spot with excellent food! We had the ribs, Jamaican curry chicken and cheeseburger and all were delicious! Rum punch is one of the best we’ve had in BVI and the passion confusion was excellent! Thanks Bonky!

Discovered this hidden gem bar/restaurant, family owned and operated bar, went ashore for a visit with paddle boards and dingy, there are a few morning balls for dinghy’s or bring ashore. Had a great time. Friendly service. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful location for those who want to experience an incredible view with some drinks and great food. This place was enlarged after Irma. Dinghy in from plentiful moorings which have also been expanded. Have some ribs for us :) We just snorkeling 100 yards from the bar and saw some great fish. I should mention that they serve lunch and dinner so if you are looking for food post Irma, Diamond Cay is a good option.

Come here to have drinks only. We had a good sized group and the only good items were the wings and hotdogs. The fish bites were fishy and the coconut shrimp was from a bag. The prices were not posted, took about an hour to get the food, and we ended up spending $100 each for food you'd expect from a carnival. We wish we held off and went to white bay for food instead.

Lunch was tasty and drinks were good. Service was good. Prices not posted. We were a bit surprised at the cost. Came out to $55 a person and we spent that for dinner the night before at Saba Rock.
