That 1 star is for our actual waitress who's name started with and X. She was the only person who provided good customer service throughout this whole ordeal. Tuesday, July 25th, myself and 4 friends went to Kalahari for a nice time in the Grotto, which is the 21+ swim up bar section. Afterwards we decided to try BLux. That was a big mistake.
We arrived at the restaurant around 830pm and checked in at the hostess stand. The hostess, (very short dark hair and she wore glasses) told us the wait would be around 30-35 minutes. She said there was a possibility we'd be seated sooner. I stepped to the side and my friend noticed a larger group behind us. They'd just gotten there, and was being seated before us. My friend of course asked the hostess who checked us in, why was the larger group who'd just gotten there, being seated before us. The hostess turned to the other hostess who was about to seat the larger party, and she asked her the same question. I found out the other hostess was name Layla or Laya (pictured). Layla brushed off our hostess and told her not to worry about it. Our hostess then told her that the customer (us) were the ones who wanted to know. Layla proceds to tell us it's because they have 8 people in their party and we have 5. They can be seated at the high top table but we don't have enough people for that table.
Sidenote: There were other tables available. They just needed to be cleaned off. They were also pushing table together and/or separating them for larger/smaller parties.
My friend told both hostess that didn't make sense but she left it alone.
Right when we actively started seeking out other restaurants, I got a text saying our table was ready. We should've left and went to another restaurant but we just wanted to eat and go home.
When we all walked back up to the hostess stand and Layla saw us coming, she turned her back towards us, passed the menu's (2 menu's for 5 people) to the other hostess and walked off. She didn't want to seat us. As if we'd done something wrong to her. But the story gets better lol.
After being seated my friend goes back to the hostess stand to ask if they could sing happy birthday to me. I was unaware that was the reason she went back up to the hostess stand. After about an hour and 20-30 minutes of us listening to about 5 other parties get sung Happy Birthday. My friend says, "I'm going to be pissed off if they sing happy birthday to one more table before you, because I know we got here before a lot of those people." Right after she said that, they literally came and sung Happy birthday to a little boy at the table directly behind us, who I am pretty sure also got there after us.
When our waitress (the blonde with glasses who's name starts with an X) came back to the table. We asked her if the hostess told her we asked them if they could sing happy birthday to me. She said yes they mentioned it to her but when she went back to ask for clarification as to who they'd be singing happy birthday to, the hostess ignored her. The kicker is, I'm pretty sure my friend wrote my name and age on a piece of paper and gave it to the hostess for her to give it to our waitress. It just conveniently never got to our waitress.
Layla then comes up to our table and whispers in my friend ear. She was being fake genuine, saying she was sorry and asked if we still wanted them to sing it. My friend said don't worry about it because I actually no longer wanted them to sing it. I even said I'd get up and walk out if they tried because that was completely f'd up. We were all over it at this point, and just ready to go.
All I had was potato soup and it was ok but your menu shouldn't say SOUPS and salads if you only offer 1 kind of soup.
My friend called and voiced our grievances to the manager. He apologized and offered me a free milkshake. (-_-)
