We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Porto. The facilities are very good and everything was clean and comfortable. The price was extremely reasonable for the quality offered, which made the experience even better. The breakfast was good, with a nice variety to start the day, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was very pleasant. However, the best part of our stay was definitely the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful, always making us feel welcome and well taken care of. Their warmth truly made a difference and turned a great stay into an excellent one. The location is also perfect, close to everything and ideal for exploring the city easily. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Porto.

Book it!! B the Guest was the perfect location for my first time in Porto (and Portugal in general!). The staff was welcoming and gave several recommendations on what to see and eat. The location itself was right in the heart of Porto which made it ways to go on late night gelato runs. It was also in a very walkable location so I ventured out often. I also found the room clean and safe. I highly recommend B the Guest!

Given this is a three-star review of “B the Guest,” I feel I should start with the negatives before moving to positives. It starts when you get inside, and you’re faced with half of 50 steps to get to the first floor of rooms. Let that sink in: FIFTY steps.||Perhaps I was lucky that there was a friendly maid to help haul up my big bag up the first half of those; later the evening the helpful (and knowledgeable) desk clerk used a dumbwaiter to bring them up the rest of the way. I was certainly lucky that my accommodation was on the first floor of rooms, or I would have had another 30 or so steps yet to go.||Unfortunately, at my 7 am departure time, there was no one to help me schlep my bags down all fifty steps … a struggle made worse by the onset of a bad cold. The breakfast provided was nice though, on my departure day, the breakfast wouldn’t start for another 1 ½ hours. How Portuguese of them?||I misunderstood what this property is, less hotel and more B&B. It was certainly a renovation of a former elegant home, featuring tall ceilings and windows and a lovely living area to enjoy with a complementary glass of port. While not near the Campanha train station (my usual goal), the property offers a great location with lots of shopping and mass transit close by. The room featured a comfortable bed and all the amenities (except hair conditioner, which sadly hoteliers seem to consider out of vogue these days). The WIFI was rock solid.||At 150€ a night, I’m now trying to remember how I wound up choosing this place for my two-day stay in Porto. The other ratings were positive; perhaps it was the ratings it garnished that didn’t include any mention of those staircases. I can understand why a hotelier would leave that detail out; now, you’ve been warned.

We ended up cancelling our stay here. We booked weeks and weeks in advanced for a room with two beds. We booked the economy room which is described as having a double and a single - perfect for me and my friend. Unfortunately when we arrived we were told we had been ‘upgraded’ as we found out they had oversold our room type. We then said we’re not happy with one double bed and that we would like the room we had booked. They offered us an extra room at €75 for one night OR they were willing to put another bed in one of the double rooms, we thought this is great and that’s absolutely fine with us we were willing to wait. He then said to put the bed in there is an extra €20. As you can see in the attached photo the Economy room clearly says 1 SINGLE BED 1 LARGE DOUBLE BED. It says nothing about notifying the hotel. At this point I was done so I cancelled. To be honest the man was quite rude blaming me for the error when I had booked the correct room. I used booking.com, filtered for 2 people and 2 beds. This is what came up. How am I to know I should have contacted the hotel prior to this. By the end the man became quite unprofessional but they did refund us. This meant at 5:30pm we had to find alternative accommodation. Think twice before booking here. To be honest we ended up having a lovely stay at Jardim da Batalha Boutique Hotel by Shiadu and I would highly recommend this over B the Guest.

An amazing hotel, such a good find! Across the street from the market was brilliant and close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was so good and the port wine we received on arrival was much appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again.

Getting to the hotel was easy on the metro (Bolhao stop). Check-in was on the first floor and there was no lift, but there is a luggage lift for the upper floors. The check in was friendly and quick and there was a welcoming glass of port and cake, in the beautifully decorated lounge, which was a lovely touch after a long coach journey to get to Porto. The room was nicely decorated and cool (it topped 33c outside) and also a good size. The location, opposite the Bolhao market, was convenient for many attractions but still relatively quiet. Breakfast, assisted by Carla and Sonaia, had some nice touches with excellent cake, some really fresh fruit, individual rice puddings and proper coffee available on request. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

B the Guest - what a gem. Great location and can be reached from the airport by metro to Bolhao station then a 2 min walk. Could be missed as not that easy to find just a black door inbetween shops but directly across from the bolhao market.|Lots of stairs and no lift but staff on hand to help, luggage to top floors by luggage lift only. Lovely clean rooms and a great place. Breakfast is continental and a shout out to the lady who does the breakfasts (sorry forgot her name) but she makes the jams and quiches and eggs and coffee on request, has a breakfast room or tables set out in the lounge - which is really nice. This used to be a tailors and is on 4 floors. Lovely touch greeted with a glass of port and cake. Would highly recommend for people with no modility problems.
