My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary end of February 2024 in Chiang Mai, which is located in Northern Thailand. My first impression at the airport was bad. We changed our smartphone SIM card but it required us to enter a lot of personal data to activate it. A word of advice, activate the SIM card at the airport of departure and not at the airport of destination. We tried to log onto the airport wifi but it also required us to enter a lot of personal details. We tried to use the taxi app Grab but no taxi in the neighborhood. We ended up paying an extra Bhd100 (We paid Bhd100 only from the hotel to Ching Mai International Airport) to use the airport taxi. Quite a rip-off of tourists. We booked the hotel Baan Ing Ping (translated into "Accommodation by the (Ping) river"). The hotel is literally on the bank of River Ping. It only cost us US$25 per night. It was a quiet little hotel run by a middle-aged woman. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious. We were worried for US$25/night, the hostel would be smelly, and the bed sheets and pillowcases would have stains. Not so. The bed sheets and pillowcases were clean and no smells. The delight came in the morning. The hotel serves toast with jam and butter, coffee, tea, and other drinks. Sitting at the breakfast table looking out to the Ping River would have given us quiet and peaceful moments if it hadn't been for the bulldozer digging in the river bed right outside the hotel. I said to my wife I would like to buy this hotel if the price is right because that's the sort of retirement life I am looking for. The owner lives in a little cottage in the garden of the hotel.||||In short, my wife and I both enjoyed what we loved doing. I played a round of golf (quite expensive at Bhd4000) and my wife went browsing nearly all the night markets in Chiang Mai. As our holiday was Monday to Friday, we missed the Weekend local market. ||||It was our first visit to Ching Mai and I'll give the hotel and the city 8/10. It's a city worth visiting.

This is a lovely hotel overlooking the river. The garden is really pretty and has nice seating areas. My room was very spacious - the mattress was on the firm side and the air conditioning unit seemed quite old, it never fully cooled the room down.||As I visited during Loy Krathong, fireworks were going off nearby until 4am so unfortunately I didn’t get much sleep. The area is probably much quieter outside of festivals.

We stayed here for 5 nights. It's a family run hotel. Very friendly and smiling staff. Outside area with tree's and plants right next to the river. Nice with sunset. You can buy soft drinks and beer and some snacks. No meals. But serving light breakfast. The room is decent sized with a really good bed. (Except the pillows for sleeping) wifi is good. Safe in the room. Shower with hot water if needed. Cleaning (if needed) and 2 bottles of water every day. I liked the location, situated just next to a bridge, so you can get across the river. Will recommend.

Clean room, good atmosphere, good location with river view. There’re plenty of cozy bars nearby. However, a few carpark.

The room and bathroom are good. I like the “resorty” design and materials of walls and floors. The riverside courtyard seating space is a gem of a place to read a book or work from. Plenty of food, coffee, grocery options right next doors.

The room was just fine for the price although we opted for the roadside room and we're warned by the lovely owner it may be a little noisy and it was but we got used to it. The outlook from courtyard onto river was very nice. We liked the area, great for exploring traditional Market and some cool cafes, we ate twice at the Vietnamese nearby recommended by hotel owner it was well worth a visit.

We were here about 6 weeks ago and I kept meaning to write a review as this was just one of those places that sticks in your mind. The owner and staff are just beautiful, so friendly, so helpful. The design of the hotel is superbly planned buy an architect with high quality fixtures fittings and very comfortable bed. It's orientates itself looking out towards the river, you cannot beat having a glass of wine at sunsetin the garden. Wine purchased from a very conveniently high-end supermarket directly opposite on the other side of the road a 30sec walk. It is on a busy road and the rooms on the roadside are a little noisy but you also have a choice of some incredible river facing rooms and the design of the hotel is such that you do not notice the road once you're inside. Once we had a chance to explore we realised how perfect the location was as you just have to cross the road and make your way through some small lanes to a really funky yet authentic part of Chiang Mai, with very cool cafes, eateries and my absolute favourite Thai market. This place was a very welcome alternative to the old city I highly recommend staying here.

I went at that hotel a few months ago and it was a very nice experience. We had booked two rooms with the river view and had the luck to have the two top floor rooms with such a view. The rooms are comfortable, all what you expect from a small hotel, there was as small fridge nice bathroom and good amenities. Service was very good and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The room had a flat screen tv but I did not use it. The room was large with lots of empty space. An armchair would have been nice you could only relax on the bed.
