This hotel is a true oasis and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The main house and the garden with a pool are charming. The rooms are spacious and very tastefully and authentically furnished. The location near the river in a quiet area is excellent. It's really peaceful at night. We felt incredibly comfortable here. I'd say it was the best accommodation we've had in Thailand so far.

I've stayed at Baan Orapin several times over the past several years, and I always feel very lucky to be a guest here. This is a true Thai family run business, and even though CM has changed a bit over the years, Baan Orapin is still an oasis in a very quiet part of CM, just across a short bridge from the area near Warorot Market. There are stand alone bungalows, and i've stayed in a single, the double, and now finally the family room for 4. All are superlative. Breakfast is ala carte with delicious choices, the pool is quiet and lovely. There are several shops and eateries a long the road in front. This B and B is one of my favorite reasons to come to Chiang Mai in over 20 years of trips to Thailand.

The most wonderful stay, so amazing we extended our visit. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay within the city this is your place! Surrounded by beautiful gardens, authentic Thai buildings, delicious breakfast, comfy beds, pool cleaned everyday, warm & friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. What more can I say apart from the best place we’ve stayed in throughout our Asian trip. The area is fantastic, lots of artisan shops, art gallery’s, bridge over the Ping River few mins walk, stunning temple next door, it really is the place to be to experience true Thai culture.

In researching a place to stay during my 4 days/3 nights in Chiang Mai, I was looking for something quiet and away from street noise, a traditional structure instead of an upscale hotel chain, off-the-beaten-path location with easy access to the city proper, and a place where I could talk with people at the property to learn a little about their city. Baan Orapin easily checked all the boxes. The grounds are scenic, peaceful, and visited by butterflies and birds. It’s an easy walk across the Ping River to a big outdoor marketplace where one night I went for dinner at the food stalls and watched a show of traditional Thai dancing in the courtyard there. The cottages are comfortable and rustic-in-a-very-nice-way. I felt valued as a guest because of the personal attention from owner Opas and manager Pepsi, both of whom seemed to want to do anything to make my stay pleasant and my visit to Chiang Mai enjoyable. On one day of my visit, once the breakfast hour wound down, I had a great conversation with Opas about Chiang Mai and the history of the property. On the last day of my visit I finally met Opas’ wife Anuchana, who was equally gracious and warm….and whose prior absence was attributable to her busyness preparing the sumptuous breakfasts offered each morning. I would easily choose this property again when planning another visit to Chiang Mai.

One of the best accommodation I’ve ever had! It’s hard to name it a hotel. We felt as guests in a family place. Very cozy, clean, with a beautiful garden. Amazing! Other travellers recommended it to us and it was absolutely worth it! We were surrounded by warm-hearted, smiling, calm and very helpful people from the hotel team. The breakfast was delicious! The only regret is that we spent only 3 nights there. Would be happy to stay longer. Thanks for hospitality! 🙏

We stayed in several places on our trip through Thailand, this was our favourite, we had a suite at the rear of the property which was very quiet. The gardens are beautiful, an oasis in the city and the home cooked breakfast is perfect. Such a tranquil setting by the pool and friendly and attentive staff. For the price you can’t go wrong, and great coffee in the shop at the front of the property.

Baan Orapin is a wonderful oasis in Chiang Mai. Recommended by a friend, we wanted something with a traditional feel, not just a hotel that had the feel of a hotel anywhere. It did not disappoint, The property is in traditional Lana Style, with wonderfully appointed rooms, beautiful gardens a well maintained pool, and a beautiful location to have breakfast. Breakfasts were delicious, with local and international options available ordered Al a carte daily. Opus and Anuchana the owners were present to welcome us, and extremely accommodating during our stay, including allowing us to leave our luggage while we overnighted elsewhere. It is a true oasis located just outside the old town. The walk over the ping river into town takes less than 10 min, with a food Market, flower market and restaurants just a few minutes away. I cannot recommend enough.

The Baan Orepin is a slice of paradise. The rooms are centred around a traditional Lanna Thai home that is 114 years old. The garden is a peaceful haven, a delightful escape from traffic, and what can be a hot and hectic day as a traveller. Each time you walk through the gates it feels like stepping back in time to a slower and more peaceful world. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, surrounded by gardens which are complemented by a lovely pool that is maintained to a very high standard. The breakfast is great, I would encourage you to try the traditional Thai breakfast, spicy and delicious. There is a very good coffee shop at the front of the property, they serve some of the best I have ever tasted. There are numerous excellent restaurants within walking distance, catering for all budgets. The staff are lovely, always helpful and welcoming. Thank you so much for a truly restful holiday, we will definately be back!!
