BABA DOOl

We have stopped here as part of our "Nubian Village" experience while cruising up the Nile river. ||We were provided some bread and "filo dough" and molasses/halva/spicy sauce + hot mint tea or cold hibiscus tea - I thought it was a pleasant visit and the atmosphere inside the house (and now I learn a hotel) was very lively. Others were smoking hookah/shisha, while others were taking pictures with small crocodile LOL ||This is located on the coast of the Nubian village - I had different expectations about what a village like this would look like but all in all this was as "genuine food" as we got to try first hand in 7 days around Egypt so I liked it!

Best place to stay in Elephanine island. Ahmed was great, as was the accomodation staff, always ready to help. It has probably the best view of the Nile and the quietest terrace in the island. It's just magical.

One of the best hotels in the area! The views from the 3 different terrasses are incredible! The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Good price. And meet with Rawia, you will have a very nice talk about Nubian culture!

I had a wonderful experience at Baba Dool in Aswan! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the traditional dishes that were full of authentic flavor. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with a great view and relaxing ambiance. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family or friends

Booked a room there last week for 3 nights. The owner is really nice and always pays attention to your requests & provide to your demands. Breakfast is delicious and the room large & well equipped for a ridiculously low price. Just be sure to contact there in advance by whatsapp before you arrive to be welcomed properly as the entrance might be a bit difficult to find. Otherwise great place to sleep and to start your exploration of Aswan!

Three French men travelling around Egypt stopped at Baba Dool place for a one night stay. Rawia welcomed us with a lot of hospitality and we enjoyed her dinner meal! The accomadation is clean, air conditioned and benefits from a wonderful view on the west Nile river side. We all three recommend this place ! One advice : when you arrive in Aswan, make sure to take the local ferry at good price (close to the KFC restaurant). A little walk will lead you to Baba Dool place and make you discover the Elephantine island atmosphere.

My experience at Baba Dool on Elephantine Island was frankly disappointing. We paid €40 for each double room, and honestly, we felt overcharged considering the service provided. Out of the three rooms we booked for our group of six, one was clearly neglected, covered in dust, and missing basic items like soap. The other two had no towels, sheets, or blankets. Even though we checked in at 11 a.m., when we returned at 9 p.m. after spending the day exploring Aswan, the rooms were still not ready. Additionally, one of the bathrooms had the water heater unplugged, making things even more inconvenient. The value for money is terrible. The only worthwhile aspect is the view of the Nile, but even this was ruined by loud music and partying from a cruise docked nearby, making it difficult to rest. Access to the hotel is also challenging, as noted in other reviews. They did have the courtesy to prepare a takeaway breakfast for us, but honestly, it was very poor. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, as the service doesn’t justify the price at all.
