Baba’s Kitchen has been in Saigon for 14 years. My friend - who has tried many, many Indian restaurants - absolutely raves about this one. It was my first time eating at an Indian restaurant.
From when you drive up (or walk up) to the restaurant - but you’re still outside - one of the very friendly staff has come out to greet you and help you park your motorbike.
They have a free appetizer of papadum with four condiments: pickled onions, tamarind sauce, mint sauce, and something very spicy, but delicious.
They have an great variety of Indian dishes, naan, roti, and drinks.
Spice levels are mild, medium, and spicy. I ordered falaak paneer and it was very mild; quite suitable for someone who prefers almost no spice heat. My friend had the mixed vegetable curry, which was definitely spicy, but not overly much - and it was delicious. We ordered both roti and the garlic naan - really lovely garlic flavor, soft and warm.
They gave us a refill on the free appetizer condiments and also complementary warm rice pudding, which was so delicious.
The staff are very attentive, constantly refilling our water glasses, and friendly.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, and there is more seating upstairs.
It’s quite clean.
