Babilonia Rio Hostel

We loved the hostel so much, that we extended our stay two times. Since the beginning we felt very much at home and welcomed thanks to the lovely staff. It‘s like a small family and everyone is very helpful. Everything is clean and safe. The neighborhood is very safe as well. Thank you a lot for everything <3

AMAZING PLACE ! To all the Westerners seeing this ... DO NOT JUDGE from the first look, I was skeptical initially myself , but i learnt the facts so fast. This place is extremely Safe, the owner and the team is just wonderful ,they really want to help you out. Ask them any questions - they will go out of their to help you and make your stay in Rio a success. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to all. Close proximity to the Copacabana beach, Ocean view Living area setup. Just awesome. Thanx Babilonia Team for everything.....

Stayed in the private room for 5 nights with my boyfriend for New Year. The private room is great with air con and lots of space and is cleaned regularly. A little noisy in the mornings sometimes but quieter than a lot of hostels. ||Breakfast was nice - good selection and loved the cheese rolls. Bar was cheap and great views and good to meet people. ||Staff are laid back and helpful and all have good English. ||New Year party was amazing. Breathtaking views over Copacabana beach and the best NYE we have ever had partying with travellers and locals until sunrise. The all you can drink deal was great!||The hostel is on a hill but you get used to the walk (maybe get a taxi when you have your bags though or prepare to get sweaty!) The motorcycles are another quick and cheap option. Favela felt very safe and we never felt vulnerable as there is always police presence and regardless, people were friendly.||15 minute walk to Copacabana beach and centrally located for Christ, Sugar Loaf etc. ||Great affordable option in the heart of Rio! ||Plus Charlie the dog is the most loveable, cute dog you could ever meet! Only negative is that we couldn't take him with us!

This hostel ia an excellent place to stay. I stayed there for 8 days.||Very good, professional and friendly staff. Magnificent view, clean rooms and showers. Very intresting favella, there you can find good new experience.100% safe. All is so good!!||Staff of this place is realy the best!! This is a clean, friendly and quiet place to stay where the staff can't do more to help you out. We arrived really late and starving after delayed flights, not only did they keep the checkout open but they escourted us down to a restaurant for dinner. The location is perfect to get the most from your stay in RDJ and the Flavela feels safe. After our days exploring we spent the evenings on the deck overlooking leme beach and absorbing the sounds of the Flavela with an icy beer.||The motorbike taxis at the bottom of the hill are cheap and know the hostel so they take you right to your door.||Recommend this as a place to stay.

A great and cheap hostel with friendly and helpful staff, set in a tranquil favela and a friendly community||||The view from the balcony is beautiful, looking over the district of Leme and the sea. It's a great spot for breakfast or to chill out with a beer after you've been out and about in Rio. The rooms have a good amount of space so even when they are full you still have room to move around. There is a decent selection of food for breakfast (cereal, coffee and tea, fruit, juice, bread, cheese and ham) and a bar where you can buy beer, caipirinha, fizzy drinks and water at a decent price.||||The only potential negatives I could see were the lack of showers (only two) and plug sockets which might cause difficulties when the hostel is full. That said, it got pretty full while I was there and these issues weren't a problem. Also, you need to walk up a fairly steep hill to get the hostel, which may cause difficulties for those with mobility issues. However, it's good exercise and if you don't have the energy you can get motorbike taxis at the bottom that will take you right to the door.

The terrace in this hostel is incredible, with a great view over the sea. The bathrooms are kept nice and clean. The cleanliness however of the 12 bed shared room for men is questionable. But for the price you pay, it's what you should expect.

The hostel is situated just 5-10mins walking distance from Copacabana Beach. Beautiful hostel with a very cozy atmosphere. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful.||I particularly enjoyed the company of David and Pablo who took me under their wings and showed me best local amenities and Rio night life.||Would definitely recommend this place!
