On the Grid : Babka Budapest

"Babka Budapest is a brand-new restaurant in Ujlipotvaros. The owner of Babka, Nemesvölgyi Attila is a well known local face from Ujlipót, everybody loves to go to his places to have a coffee or a meal in a really lovely atmosphere. At his new place you can try some mediterranean food." - Bianka Bujdosó

This is a good place to try some middle Eastern inspired dishes. Lamb kebab was really good and juicy. Beef cheeks tagine is a must try I would say. But the best dish which I ate here was roasted eggplant dip. It really had an outstanding taste. As for the dessert, I tried Babka slice which was super delicious. Service is good but the waiter was kinda pushing too much with his friendly attitude while ordering. We didn't really had much time to think what to order. It would be better if you book a table in advance.

This place was literally a lifesaver for me. After a few bad experiences with restaurants not understanding my allergy requirements, I stumbled upon this gem by chance — and what a find! The quirky decor, impeccable service, and delicious Middle Eastern food were fantastic. But what truly stood out was their detailed allergen information — one of the most comprehensive I’ve ever seen. I felt completely safe eating here and could finally relax and enjoy an incredible meal. Definitely a spot I’ll return to next time I’m in Budapest. 🌟

We had a reservation and we got a table immediately. Everything was prepared quickly and it was delicious. Very nice staff. We would love to go here again. Quiet, pleasant, cozy place.

Absolutely outstanding Near Eastern cuisine! The flavors were just exceptional — every dish was perfectly balanced, rich, and full of character. You can really taste the attention to detail and passion behind the food. Honestly, it’s a wonder they don’t have a Michelin star yet. Highly recommended!

The hummus was smooth, flavorful, and super fresh. I was also so happy to see they offer gluten-free bread, such a win for those of us with dietary needs! The only downside was that it was extremely hot inside, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but everything else from the food to the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was kind and attentive

Really cool place and cozy, all tables were full on Friday night so it’s better to make a reservation in advance, mezze was delicious (all the plates were amazing) labneh with pisztachio and eggplant cream were heaven creamy and mixed flavours and spices, service was good and staff are kind, prices are average and they have options of good offers when you order multiple things

We had a lovely evening at Babka. It‘s a really cozy place with great food, mocktails and very friendly staff. The rice pudding was delicous. Thank you for the perfect night.

Definitively one of the most delicious labnehs (w/pistachio) and hummus I’ve ever tried. The babka for dessert stands out! Service is also very good and atmosphere is really nice. We ordered two wines, two starters, two plates and one dessert.
