Good food, good people, good vibe, and good music. We randomly found this on google search and it’s now our lowkey place! Food was delicious and good portions! Music was old school 90s and 00s hip hop and rap but it may have just been the night we were there- we loved it! It definitely looks like a dive bar outside but go in!

Halal food!!!!! Yay! I had the Moussaka and it was outstanding! I will definitely go again and order it! My friend absolutely loved his meal as well. We only eat halal and frequent Turkish/Middle Eastern/etc restaurants. This is a family owned business and everyone was exceptionally friendly! The daughter, Milad, is an outgoing super friendly attentive server and I adore her! Upon learning more about the menu, they use quality meats (not processed) and make the majority of their offerings in house, freshly made. Looking forward to going back again!

Definitely one of the better restaurants in the Homestead area. The food is fairly simple but homey and reasonably high quality. Possibly a bit pricey depending on what you get. I got to try the plain yogurt and the gyro. I think the yogurt is homemade. Certainly seems that way. It’s a little chunky, but I actually enjoyed the authentic yogurt and nice balance of creaminess and saltiness this had. Very good authentic yogurt. The gyro was pretty good as well. The wrapping was kind of subpar, but the meat was well made and the vegetables seemed to be fresh. Pretty okay sauce as well. It’s definitely not the best gyro I’ve had in Pittsburgh, but it’s not bad either. All in all, if you’re looking for a good late night stop in homestead, this is a great option. Nice Mediterranean food served here.

They had a Karaoke Evening going on when we went for dinner at Babylon. Milled is so amazing, she made us feel at home. It’s a family owned business, all the staff were really nice 😊 Food was fresh and yummy. I would certainly come back for more 🥰 My fav has to be babaghanoush 😍 Very Delicious 😋

The lamb kabobs were fantastic but the lamb shawarma was slightly overcooked. HUGE main dish portions. The falafel was tasty but was the only thing with a smaller portion. Definitely wish the dining room was open as eating in the bar was a bit less comfortable.

First time here and we LOVED it. Food is authentic and so tasty. Best hummus I’ve ever had and I’m a total foodie. Wait staff were extremely nice and very reasonable pricing. We will make the drive again for sure!

The service was so friendly! We got fattoush, hummus, mujaddara, lentil soup and musabaha. They were all absolutely fantastic, delicious and fresh with large portions. We are excited to go back to this hidden gem! Hopefully we can go when they have karaoke 🎤

This place is a hidden little gem in the back side of Homestead. I had been meaning to check it out for a while but was a bit skeptical judging from the looks, it looks more like a local bar, which it is. But it also has great mid Eastern style door, I got a gyro and plate of baba and both were fantastic. They use real.pita breat for the gyro. And their baba is not as lemony as you often find around here, which was nice for a change. Ill definitely be back!

Could I get another star, please?? This magical food experience is the real deal, and an absolutely charming family from Iraq is behind it. Ignore the absolutely abysmal exterior (think old Pittsburgh bar) and the not-so-charming interior --- it won't matter one whit when you've tried the food. Heck, just conversing with the family - an adorable, spunky younger sister and two older brothers - is entertaining enough - especially the sister. She's a hoot. Just do yourself a favor & GO. The absolute must-have's: hummus (SO creamy and flavorful; some of the best I've ever had), baba ghanoush (WOAH - smooth, smoky and excellent flavor - BEST I've ever had); and the chicken shawarma sandwich -- INCREDIBLE! It was pressed like a panini and was just over-the-top flavorful. Easily the best I've had - and DC (where I used to live) has some good Iraqi food! Just wow. I had a falafel sandwich (rolled in pita - per usual) - and it was tasty, but that shawarma is unbeatable. We took home 2 dishes I wanted to try, and I just tried them for dinner. Sooo tasty. First - mujaddara: tender dark lentils with caramelized onions. Second: musabaha: chickpeas with fresh diced tomatoes, onions, tahini sauce - YUM! We wanted a spinach feta pie but weren't sure how well it would travel. No matter - we WILL be back. I can't wait. They're closed on Sundays and have specials throughout the week. This place is *very* special. Just try it!

This was an amazing find via Yelp while shopping in the area. Don't be taken aback by bar scene when you walk in. The staff are super friendly. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The musabaha is a must try. I wish we hadn't jumped in and started eating it before we took the picture. It was so good.

For anyone with gluten sensitivities, be aware that their white rice contains wheat egg noodles in it. Therefore, any dish on their menu that says it contains rice also has these noodles in the rice (which is not clearly marked on each food item), risking serious allergic food reactions. The service was good and the food was tasty, but this lack of disclosure to patrons is concerning.

We were pleasantly surprised by Babylon. There isn't any ambiance nor curb appeal, but the service is very warm and friendly and the food tasted good. We learned that Babylon is a family-owned and run business, and the owner is even one of the cooks. We don't know if we'll ever find ourselves back in the area, but either way, I feel that I can recommend that *you* give it a try.

TLDR; The sauces were unmatched, the shawarma is to die for (I love it in sandwich form), try the spinach feta pie, and the restaurant feels like such a typical local bar but is SO MUCH MORE! The hospitality is outstanding and so was the food! Please don't go by what my photo looks like of the food! We always had started eating when we took it, and I dropped the rice It still looked delicious and tasted even better!! The chicken shawarma sandwich was sooooo flavorful, the chicken was juicy; I recommend getting extra garlic sauce to slather on there! We got the combo plate with rice, hummus, and baba ghanouj, served with the pita! The baba ghanouj was smoky and creamy but that hummus was some of the best I ever had. We also got the spinach and feta pie, also outstanding, especially dipped in all those delightful spreads! I would've gone back to the restaurant for the people! A guy I talked to at the bar area and he was so kind to us! He brought me extra spreads to try which I thought was so nice of him!! He made sure to tell me he loves their hummus. They treated us like friends and after a long day, we appreciated the loveliness of the people! Amazing hospitality and food- I would 100% go back!

Stopped by here for some dinner and everything was fantastic. Falafel sandwich, and appetizer platter with hummus, grape leaves, Baba Ghanooj, and Tabboula. I can't wait to return. Please support this local business. Service was excellent!

Promised to give this place a thumbs up! Delicious from the hummus dip to the cashew backlava dessert. We all loved our food! Now the restaurant isn't very fancy, but service and menu were great. If a lamb dish or shish kebab was on your list, get over to the West Homestead spot that I think you'll want to come back to again, a hidden gem. Nice bartender too! Ps: don't serve cold red wine.

The Middle Eastern food at Babylon is amazing I've been daydreaming about that luscious Hummus and pita bread

We had so much fun there with our God kids and their mom tonight. The food was delicious, the staff so friendly and accommodating. It's the kind of place where you feel welcome like you're with family. Thanks for having fun with us tonight! Can't wait to come back.

The best hummus i've eve had. sleek was fresh and flavorful. the service was excellent and prices very reasonable! not fancy, a casual atmosphere with dining room and a bar area. can't wait to return and try more food!!

The atmosphere says cozy bar but the food makes me keep coming back. The couple that own it are friendly and knowledgeable. I'd take any recommendation that they offer.

Absolutely amazing food and service! Smoky baba, smooth hummus and delicious falafel- the beer is cold and the prices are great! Will definitely be returning soon.

Babylon is the perfect family owned restaurant and bar in all of Pittsburgh. They have the best middle eastern dishes and that's coming from a middle eastern person. What's even better is they have American food options as well. The service is beyond exceptional, the family that owns Babylon is genuine, very friendly, and definitely create an environment I plan to consistently come back to. It's also nice how the bar is in a separate room from the main dining area. They have an electronic juke box that you can play music from your phone. The overall ambience is great, and once again the food and service is EXCEPTIONAL. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options, such as tabouli and falafel. Parking: Plenty of parking on each side of the building.

First things first, that humus is something I will tell my future grand kids about. I've never tasted a humus so pure even in all my Mediterranean meals in LA. It was a clean plate with only 3 people eating out of it. It was that good. We took some to go. Summary: if anything, GET THE HUMUS. The falafels were both really good. Meat in the middle properly cooked and spiced with a sauce to accompany it. The fries were quality crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Both the lemoncello and green tea shots were of excellent build. Both Basem and Saman were excellent servers and bartenders. Giving a lot of suggestions and insight on the menu. It gets decently loud in the bar area, but the dinning area seems pretty well separated and far away from the main speaker for the jukebox. 100/100 coming back for the humus. Drinks were cool too.

I've only ordered out, not in, but I can say the following without a doubt: 1. Babylon's hummus is garlicky goodness 2. The Mujadarra (sp?) is amazing, just the right spice, and healthy to boot. 3. The grape leaves are as good as anywhere else I've had them. Grape leaves vary significantly. I highly recommend getting the meat grape leaves if you eat meat, because veg grape leaves tend to be loose and mushy. Could do with a little more pita. The tub of hummus goes far. Never been to Chic's Place, but have ordered from Babylon. Keep it up, Babylon people.

Not fancy by anyeans, but delicious food and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and there's a wide selection of Mediterranean dishes. I'll definitely be back!

My Mother and I had lunch here,today. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Service was very good. Would highly recommend. We will be back. There are so many things on the menu that we need to try.

Smoking is no longer permitted. The food and service were excellent. Will be back for sure to try more options from the extensive menu. Very veg friendly choices and lots of non veg too. Super fresh and tasty. Had the hummus, baba ganoush, baked kibbie and feta salad. Good portions. Need to sample more next time. Update: came back a second time and tried the spinach feta pie- much larger than expected and super delicious with just the right proportion of filling to dough.

You have got to try it! I was shocked by the location and the outside. But, the food. Ah, the food! It was incredible!! Everything we ordered was fantastic. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The downside was the smoking. You can smoke in the bar and the smell makes its way into the dinning area. Not used to it-so that was a bit off for us. But, you cannot go wrong with trying Babylon. You will not regret the decision!!

Ordered takeout: gyro & grilled chicken skewer platter. I will definitely return for drinks and more food!

Always a great meal! Servers are always really nice as well! The place is a little deceiving when you first walk in you'll see quickly that's it's a cool little neighborhood gem.

Have driven by many times and notice the tiny sign out front. A friend said that they had stopped in and enjoyed their meal. So stopped by this nondescript building for a takeout lunch. There were a few tables enjoying their meal and a friendly gentleman waiting on tables. He quickly took our order and then brought out some homemade Baba Ghanooj and hummus with some pita to sample while we waited. It was very good. My lamb shawarma sandwich was very tasty with an interesting homemade sauce and lettuce and tomato. The fries were very crisp and good. All in all, if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a good meal, Babylon is a good choice.

Great food dive bar try the salmon amazing and love the roasted vegetable...some of the silkiest hummus I've ever tried

I've been here twice and both times the food was amazing and the vibe was super laid back. All of the flavors are amazing, especially the sauce on the stuffed cabbage. The hummus is delicious too! Definitely will be going back again.

First time here. Food is excellent with generous portions. Tons of flavor. Super nice staff. Only thing to be aware of....it's a dive bar with smoking. If you don't want the cigs around you, definitely an easy carry out option. Will be back to try more of the menu.

Dive bar ambiance - restaurant towards the back. Intended take out but had time so I ate at the bar- the hummus and baba ganoush so good I ordered extra to take home. The falafel with home made pickled beets was delicious. Service was fast and the establishment is very clean. There is a parking lot . If you like Middle Eastern food you should try!

Definitely a hidden gem in Pittsburgh's East End. Authentic Middle Eastern, Mediterranean cuisine that is fresh and delicious operated by a local family. If you are visiting Homestead Waterfront AVOID all the chain restaurants there and drive the 5 minutes to Babylon. Service is outstanding. Saman and Basem are cordial and naturally welcoming. You can tell they have the family interest at heart as they are eager to share their food culture with you. BONUS: if you're up for an adult beverage, a full bar awaits with old school Homestead prices. (remember Chiodos?)

Smoking was still allowed in this restaurant, and the food had a cigarette essence to it. So I'll pass on that from here on out

Food was excellent. We ordered a ton of takeout for our family. They reviewed order before we left to be sure all was included. Great service. Will be coming back often. Great find and addition to the neighborhood!

Food is excellent, fresh, quick, and delicious. We went on a whim and got sliced feta, artichoke tahini salad, vegetarian grape leaves, musabaha, falafel, and kibbeh nayyeh (this is now my favorite option for it in Pittsburgh). I cannot recommend this place enough. Its location and atmosphere is unassuming in a pleasant hometown way, and that only adds to the stellar food.

Stopped at Babylon after working at the food bank for the morning. Outside got a bit nervous as the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path and looks like an old VFW or something. However, the food is first class and we'll worth a trip. The hummus, baba ghanoush, rice combo was amazing. Hummus was silky smooth, perfect, and the baba G was sooo flavorful (not extremely smoky like some). The Moussaka had slices of potatoes instead of mashed which was a pleasant change and was one of the top I've ever had. Salad dressing was a tasty mix of Italian and Greek flavor. We also had the lamb swarma plate with fries and it was great too. Finally had the walnut baklava and it was good. I like a bit more honey but the others in my group liked it a lot. Also to note, we did not drink but the beer prices seemed very very reasonable and some ladies near us were gushing about their mixed drink (not sure what is was however). All in all, just go inside and enjoy the food and friendly service.

Amazing Middle Eastern food. Hidden gem not far from the Waterfront shopping area. Had excellent hummus and schwarma. Will be back again!
