What an amazing experience we had at Bacchus! We had truffle tasting menu for the evening. 6 courses plus some snacks, An unforgettable culinary journey—every dish was a masterpiece! Incredible depth of flavor—each bite was a new discovery of truffle perfection. Such a shame they won’t be holding dinner services for a while now. We genuinely enjoyed every single dish, bravo to the chefs! It’s one of best fine dining we had in Australia. Impeccable service—the staff’s knowledge and passion elevated the experience. Hope you will be reopening for dinner soon Bacchus !

Everything was absolutely amazing! I had the truffle tasting menu, every ingredient blend perfectly with the truffles. These days, it is hard to find traditional European fine dining like this establishment. It is such a shame that they are now closed for inidividual clients and doing functions only.

A Truly Magical Culinary Journey at Bacchus Brisbane From the moment we stepped into Bacchus, we knew we were in for something special—but nothing could have prepared us for the extraordinary evening that unfolded. We indulged in the tasting menu with paired wines, and every single course felt like a piece of art. The dishes were imaginative, balanced, and utterly divine—each bite transporting us into a world of flavour and elegance. The wine pairing was on another level—Rory, with his incredible knowledge and passion, felt like an alchemist. He masterfully elevated each dish with the perfect glass, sharing insights with such enthusiasm that it made the whole experience even more special. Ellie brought a personal warmth to our table that turned fine dining into something deeply human and memorable. Every single staff member was professional, attentive, and radiated genuine hospitality. The venue itself is stunning—clean, sparkling, and oozing with classy charm. The ambience, service, and presentation were all five-star, but honestly, if I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. This was easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Bacchus isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Worth every cent and more.

I had dinner here with a few friends and we went for the tasting menu.. every single dish was incredible. Normally, at most places, there’s only one or two dishes that really stand out but here, everything was consistently amazing from start to finish. The wine pairing was spot on too! perfectly complementing each course. Service was attentive without being over the top, and the attention to detail really stood out. Marco, the chef, absolutely nailed it. I have pretty high expectations when it comes to food but he delivered on every level. I’ll definitely be back. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

The KINGFISH is stunning. The flavours were amazing. Definitely not what I expected. My favourite was the APPLE for dessert, it was beyond delicious. The service, the atmosphere and location are 5 star. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Google
The food was nicely presented, however, the food was not seasoned and really average for the price. When I asked for seasoning the poor service guy had to run around to find salt and pepper. Do not get the risotto it tastes like ...vomit. Dry martini was nice.

I took my niece for a high tea. I advised the staff beforehand that I did not eat seafood. Sadly my egg sandwich was full of furikake which is dried fish, so not terribly nice. We were very excited to experience this high tea but it was underwhelming. The desserts were nice. However we had to flag someone down for drink refills so perhaps they were understaffed. I wish there were more sandwiches. The arancini was nice but I think the menu may have been a little overthought. No one needs a black sesame scone. Nothing beats the original. Sorry guys.

When we walked in to the restaurant it was just so beautiful. The interior design and furniture felt grand and opulent. We had high tea and it was served on a three tiered stand with contemporary porcelain. I loved the complimentary bubbles for my birthday. That was a lovely surprise, and made me feel special. The food looked petite but it felt like a good variety and quality made. It’s a nice venue for celebrations and fine dining experience. Staff were friendly and swift with professional service. Loved our afternoon high tea experience.

Yelp
I recently heard that the sous chef at Bacchus has changed to Dino, so I wanted to try out the new menu, and I was not disappointed. Overall, the most satisfying thing is that the sauces for each dish have more than two flavors, and they are not as salty as other western restaurants, with a moderate flavor. Besides being expensive there are no other drawbacks, the environment is good and the service is good. I ordered all appetizers, cobia sashimi with celery sauce, champagne lobster tail, beef tongue (this I have to praise, with pickles and beetroot sauce is really great). Soy broccolini on the side. There was also a selection of their own cheeses from cheese trolley. and lychee rose for dessert.

Yelp
Wow where do I even begin?! This restaurant is truly one of the best I have ever been to. The entire experience was remarkable from beginning to end. My partner and I made a reservation online and checked in with the hostess on arrival. Keep in mind that they are located in the Ryges Hotel and valet parking is $40 so if you want to find cheaper options take into account the time to also walk to the restaurant when making your reservation. We were escorted right away to our table and presented the menus. Everything sounds so incredible so we had a tough time deciding. However after a bit of narrowing down we chose out our food. For starters I got the foie gras while my partner got the duck ravioli. Prior to receiving the dishes we were served an amuse bouche. For those unfamiliar with the term; amuse bouche are served both to prepare guests for a meal and to offer a glimpse of a chef's style. We had three different ones to try which all surprised us. Next came out our starters. The foie gras was presented beautifully in a steaming glass. The taste was honestly the best foie gras I had ever eaten! My partner even enjoyed it and he is not the biggest fan of foie gras. His duck ravioli was equally as delicious. After the starters we were presented a "palate cleanser" which consisted of a grapefruit sorbet-style dish. For our main dishes we both got the rockfish. It was accompanied by corn, quinoa, sour cream, sweet corn puree and possibility other things I'm forgetting. The dish was far better than we imagined it to be. All the flavors and sides complimented it so well! For dessert we got the Apple. Its so hard to even describe what it was however my best explanation would be an apple mouse with delicious accompaniments. It also came with mint ice cream on the side. The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic as well. The wait staff always checked up on us, refilled our glasses of water, and were helpful with giving suggestions. Highly recommend visiting my new favorite place in Brisbane!

Yelp
Our visit to Bacchus was a flawless dining experience. The food was sublime. The staff are to be commended for impeccable service throughout. Kudos and thanks to all involved.

Yelp
After passing Bacchus numerous times on my way to South Bank Cinemas, me and a few friends found ourselves lounging in their couches after a movie one night. The location is pretty unbeatable, as it's located in the Rydges hotel two blocks down from the cinemas and restaurants in South Bank. Only hearing about this place in an article, Bacchus originally made an impression on me for being described as an upscale bar housing a swimming pool. We didn't go into the swimming pool that night, but the place is a slightly upscale lounge, with dim lighting, and excellent service. Upon arriving, the bartender came around to fill a couple of glasses with chilled lemon water. Their cocktail creations weren't as appealing as I had hoped, but I ended up ordering the Social, a mix of Patron Silver, Dolin Bianco, house strawberry and rhubarb cordial and fresh pink grapefruit juice (20). The drink tasted mostly like the Patron, and was a bit bitter - and while I do enjoy Patron, it didn't taste much like a "mixed drink." The Dionysus was also a bit of a miss, as I don't think I like Maraschino liquer much...

Yelp
This was the first time I've been to high tea and I will say I was not disappointed. I had high expectations for these because from pictures that I've seen everything looks so extravagant. The server treated us very well and checked up on us multiple time to make sure everything was alright. You got to choose from a selection of teas and could try as many different ones as you wanted within the three hours there. The food that was given were to delicate and tasted as good as it looked! I was partial to the breakfast portion like the scone and cucumber sandwiches. They were light and fluffy. Although everything was small you definitely got full! By the end of the three hours, we didn't even finish everything. Definitely try the high tea here whether you're been to one before or not. The experience was worthwhile.

Yelp
Delicious food for serious foodies. Their seven course degustation is amazing. Every dish was a pleasure and surprise from scampi tartare with caviar, gnocchi made out of calamari and scallops with mussels to decadent chocolate dessert. It's expensive but a lovely treat and well worth it. Amazing service with the best matched wines from all over the globe. It's a true foodies journey. A special occasion place to have a delicious treat and me extravagant.

Yelp
One of the best fine dining experiences in Brisbane. We went to Bacchus celebrate a friend's 30th and booked in to do their Dessert Degustation (O-M-G!). This isn't our first visit to Bacchus, we also went for our anniversary a couple of years ago and were blown away by how amazing it was and I'm glad to say we weren't let down this visit. Bacchus delivers on all fronts - service, quality and even though as a fine dining venue it is on the high end for $$ you never feel like you didn't get your moneys worth. Now, about the Dessert Degustation... Holy Amazeballs Batman! It is like you died and went to dessert heaven where everything is chocolately caramelly sugar coated nutty deliciousness and these amazing people keep appearing and bringing you more. 5 courses of dessert plus a bunch of hidden suprise courses that come out between them created as per the chefs discretion and are beautiful surprises (see photos and die of jealousy). Truthfully you will feel like you could fall into the deepest sugar induced coma ever but it's totally worth it. Sidenote: Cocktails are superb! Just do it. The staff are always attentive, professional and friendly. I would recommend Bacchus to anyone looking to have a high quality food experience that will not disappoint.

Yelp
OK. Fine. Nice. At our recent trip to Brisbane's newest fine dining restaurant, located at Rydges Hotel, South Bank, we found the experience to be just that: OK, fine, nice. Which is why it was disappointing. The food, while being lovely, was not as great as I expected. Fine dining, to me, suggests something special, something that makes it above good bistro fare. And I don't think Bacchus was quite there. The flavour combinations of the pork croquette with beetroot puree and the pan fried white fish with peas, broad beans and vongole were fair. The cucumber and scallop carpaccio, however, was a little off; the tomato jelly consommé too watery and bland. And the beef tenderloin was good, without being anything special. In the review I read prior to our visit, they mentioned that there was an emphasis on matching olive oils to the food which I found quite intriguing. But the only time I noticed the addition of any olive oils was in the mashed potato (which admittedly, was quite more-ish). The waiter didn't mention it at all, which was surprising. But above the food, other elements also detracted from our experience. Particularly the sommelier, who appeared to be an obligatory part of the meal rather than optional. After stating we only wanted one glass of wine each, having already had a couple of aperitifs before dinner, the sommelier proceeded to dismiss what was available on the "by the glass" list as average and steer us towards a very expensive demi of French white. After my partner had indicated he wanted to drink red. And not even enquiring as to our food choices so as to match the wine appropriately. *And* referring to the Veltliner as being there "just for show"... I could go on. I would be interested to read what other reviewers thought, but based on our experience, we won't return (at least any time soon). My restaurant star scale: 1 star: rubbish 2 star: majorly let down by one/multiple aspects 3 star: positives and negatives average it out 4 star: minor detractors only 5 star: as close to restaurant perfection as you can get!

Yelp
Best place ever. That's all you need to know. Excellent customer service as in escorting you to a bathroom when you don't know how to get there. It was my boyfriends birthday so they acknowledged it and gave him extra dessert for it with a cute little "happy birthday". Had too much of a great time to take so many photos but these are the ones I have of the food because they were so bloody beautiful. My main was basically a dessert to me. If I could give this a 6/5 I would. Absolutely beautiful. Go grab some of their amazing cocktails while your at it!

Yelp
Perhaps the best food and service of my entire 60+ year life. Both the food and service were beyond compare. I had the lamb, my wife the Kangaroo strip loin.

Yelp
This will start with a rant: For some reason, when arriving at a restaurant we are always put at the worst table. This happened upon arrival at Bacchus, so we did ask to be moved (the original table = squishy with no room and poor lighting, behind a huge structure/potplant/somethingorothericannotremember)... At first they were resistant, saying all 2 person tables were booked. This confuses me, because those people hadn't arrived as yet and have no clue as to what table they were getting a) we had ALSO booked, probably about 3-4 weeks prior actually b) last time I checked, when booking a table at a restaurant, you dont click which table you prefer like a seating plan on an aircraft. ie tables shouldn't be SO preallocated that a change is impossible. Rant over, they did end up changing us to another table, but I felt that they weren't particularly happy about doing so. We were asked three times by three separate waitstaff if we wanted water, and so the sparkling water we requested didn't actually come to us for about 15-20 minutes. The sommelier was clearly on a mission to sell a particular wine, we went with it, even though we thought we were being sucked in, but the wine was actually really amazing. The food: beautiful presentation. Each dish is supposedly matched to a particular olive oil, and in my entree/mains I could definitely detect that particular oil, so this was quite interesting. I had beef carpaccio for entree, and chicken ballotine for main, which were both excellent, my husbands dishes of red claw ravioli and duck breast were both excellent as well. Desserts err interestingly on the savoury side, eg goats cheese, fennel, basil are listed ingredients. I had apricot souffle that was just eggy tasting with very little apricot flavouring, but the lemon myrtle sorbet was delicious. One interesting thing to note: on their website, they have listed a "Grill" section with sides, however this was completely missing from the menu... not sure why, should have asked. Overall, I am erring on the side of liking this place, teething problems/new venue probably explain the lapse in service, which did become friendlier and more improved as the evening went on. We definitely loved the food, desserts not as much though.

Yelp
Loooooove this place. Went there yesterday for my birthday with my husband. The decor is interesting, kinda retro 80s cigar bar glam, but nothing too distracting. The staff are quite nice, nothing special to comment about. But the food, OH.MY.GOD. They were so good!!! Everything is flavourful, very nice plating, decent size plates, and every bite just makes to want to eat more. My favourite was the duck dish but the wagyu Tri tip was excellent as well. And the chocolate soufflé - yummmmmmmm!!!!! The only downfall I suppose is the price tag. Being fine dining and all our bill came up to about $250 (1 entree, 3 mains, 1 dessert, 2 glasses of wine), but it was expected so it was more than acceptable to us. And the bonus is, it's on the entertainment book so it was $50 off!!! I would definitely go back again!!!

Yelp
We had heard about the pending opening of Bacchus and it coincided with a friends birthday. I contacted them and ensured our group would have somewhere to sit and enjoy the club. We arrived to smiles and staff immediately there to help us. The Snr Coordinator showed us to our spot. Lovely round, high back lounges and right near the bar. We had a great night, were looked after exceptionally well (including well cleaned and tidied table, well stocked replacement drinks). The decor is very modern and cool. The only downer was the weather, we weren't able to sit around the pool area as it was raining. We will definitely be going back! Can recommend Bacchus to anyone looking for fine dining, a chilled place to relax, a quick dip in the pool, a great sunday sesh... the list goes on. Try it!!

Yelp
I could not love this place more! I went here a few weeks ago with a girlfriend and we got the quintessential high tea for two with a selection of coffees and teas. Everything was so delicious, i got the Paris tea and loved it! The staff are lovely, very tentative and efficient. We sat down, ordered our drinks within a few minutes and got our yummy treats within 10 minutes. I would highly recommend this place for a day out with the girls, birthdays, mothers day or just because. Definitely will be going back!

Yelp
You would think that a hotel restaurant in Southbank wouldn't be all that great, but I think Bacchus is likely in the top five restaurants in Brisbane. Whether ordering off the menu or taking in the 7 course degustation, well worth the time. The degustation changes seasonally, and there is always plenty to excite the senses. Highly recommend taking in a bottle of Le Volte Merlot from Tuscany with the meat course, or main course. The wait staff, sommelier and maitre d' are some of the best serving staff I have met here in Brisbane. They take their jobs seriously, but are also fun and professional. If you want a place for a special occasion or just somewhere to go with great food, try Bacchus. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
My partner and I had a nice night at Bacchus.. We had a couple of cocktails in the poolside bar area before dinner.. The area is really nice with a classy atmosphere which was spoiled by the yobbos they let in.. Seriously, if I wanted to rub shoulders with people who dress in singlets and shorts I line up for happy hour at the local pub... However, we were looked after well. The restaurant experience was better, good service and good food. My partner and I both had steak and each were cooked to perfection; quite sublime really.. We were even offered a choice of nicely designed steak knives which was quirky in my experience... Nice wine chosen from the extensive (and expensive) wine list and killer coffees too.. Would do it again; and we don't say that about too many restaurants..

Yelp
I enjoyed a lunch at Bacchus on a Friday recently, and the service and food were amazing. The staff were so knowledgable, friendly and approachable - they seemed so passionate about the food they were suggesting. I would definitely recommend it, and hope to go back soon for the High Tea.

Charity B.

Yelp
Poorly understaffed on a Sunday. Booked a champagne High Tea, we had finished the food before any tea arrived. No offers of refills had to flag down harrassed waitresses who really didnt want to know. Wont go there again,a pathetic waste of money at $49! Then had the hide to ask us to buy a rose for $10 to fund an overseas orphanage.
