Good food options large menu, highly recommend sitting on the patio. It has a really nice view of the golf course and the sunset and be sure to snag a table at the fire pit.

Indoor and outdoor dining on the beautiful setting of a golf course. Open to the public. Everything is priced a dollar or two more than expected but that is to be expected ; ) If it tastes great then it's worth it. Ours tasted great! With a comfortable yet classy atmosphere. There were several TVs in the large bar area to catch your favorite game. We ordered a small cheese pizza ($15) and a French Dip with fries ($15). Surprisingly Perfect crisp crust and delicious au jus. During games, there is beer specials. Several varieties on tap and pitcher specials during games. The staff is very attentive even when it started to get busy. Ample parking and easy location.

Back Nine Tavern is located at Southington Country Club so you will normally have a lot of golfers. There is a very nice patrio area overlooking the practice putting green, as well as a couple of the holes. Every meal I've ordered here has been very good. The service has always been top notch. The bartenders are fantastic and quick with orders and making sure everyone has what they want.

Back Nine Tavern is located at the Southington Country Club next to a scenic golf course. There is a main bar room and a good sized meeting room with its own small bar. A nice array of food was brought out from the kitchen for a gathering of around sixty held here mid-April. Dishes included bruschetta, chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms, mini-meatballs, jalapeno poppers and coconut shrimp. The bruschetta was better than most since the grilled baguette slices were seasoned. The stuffed mushrooms were large with a flavorful sausage stuffing and the fried jalapeno poppers had the right balance of heat with melted cheese in each bite. A nice sized shrimp was used for the coconut shrimp and they weren't too sweet. The chicken wings were on the small side and dry. Drinks from the bar had a good pour. There was a lot of food left at the end of the evening, so guests were welcome to bring some home. If in the area, this is a place worth considering for an event. Management is very customer oriented and friendly.

Came in this afternoon for a quick lunch, place was not busy. Service was poor, table dirty, didn’t check on us after giving the food which the hot dog was cold, quesadilla had tomato when asked for without. All the waitresses sit at a table and chats, we even had to wait for our check. There’s so many other great places in southington than this.

Celebrated my daughter’s Sweet 16 with all her friends. It was perfect all around. The food & venue exceeded our expectations! Thank you to Shania & Mike for a great 16th birthday party for Ava!

Yelp
Such a nice place to come during the nice weather! We lucked out on a nice, warm spring day and sat on the patio. It was so pretty and relaxing. The fig and prosciutto pizza was yummy. The chicken caprese sandwich was average. The beers were good as expected. A nice time had!

Yelp
I have been to Southington CC several times before, but keep giving their restaurant chances. The same result surfaces each time. I asked if the wings are crispy and they ask if we want them that way, and I say, yes. They have always come out soggy regardless of the flavor. The fried dumplings are okay, but the sauce is thick and just came out of the refrigerator. The service seems fine, which is what saved the second star. The environment has plenty of televisions inside, but might as well take advantage of outside seating.

Yelp
Yup, the cheese steak went right back to the kitchen and removed from the bill. This is the 3rd or 4th time here. Each time, I've been underwhelmed. Pizza, wings, sandwiches are all "meh." Anything with marinara sauce is a no.... dude, step away from the oregano! Meatballs die the same fate. Allowing this cheese steak to leave the kitchen is sinful, even if it had cost half of what they charge. Sorry, Back 9, I gave you a few cuts at it, thinking we just went on an off night. I tried, unfortunately, the effort was one sided. While the drinks are cold with a decent pour, that doesn't get me in the car heading there. Won't be back.

Yelp
This is a bar at the golf course. It's a little small but there was room at the bar for four of us. It's usually pretty busy with golfers but wasn't the night we went. Bartender was quick and attentive. Drinks were delicious and not too pricey. We didn't eat this time but they make the most amazing pizza. There's also a room you can reserve for private events. It has its in separate entrance and bar. Great spot to host a party.

Yelp
9/1/22 The Back Nine Tavern offered beautiful outdoor dining overlooking the course on this fantastic late summer afternoon with my dear friends Dave and Patti N. I started with a cup of chili that was pretty good (glad I ordered a cup, the bowl would've been too much with the burger) but was easily upstaged by the bacon, cheddar cheeseburger that came after. Pat had a chef salad with grilled steak that surprised us all with the size of sliced steak the salad was topped with. She declared it very good and enough for at least one more meal....maybe two. Dave opted for a combo turkey/corned beef Reuben that looked the size of two. He said it was really good. We all agreed that it was a better than average lunch, both quality and quantity wise. The Back Nine will likely be in our rotation for future luncheons.

Yelp
Good pub type food. Good help/service. Comfortable setting. Reasonable prices for food and drink.

Yelp
We have been back multiple times since this review was written and I've actually come to live it. The meatball sub is delicious. It's awesome for families during the summer - we can sit on the patio, kids can meander around a bit and don't have to stay super quiet - it's just a good spot! Beers and cocktails always good, too!

Yelp
Yikes, I wasn't expecting too much but was disappointed by my experience here. We came here with some family to celebrate a birthday safely outdoors. They have a huge deck and it overlooks the golf course which is nice. Upon arrival, they did not have our reservation despite calling twice to confirm. Luckily they had seating available for us. But apparently they didn't have time to wipe down the table. I always carry disinfectant wipes to wipe restaurant tables down, covid or not because my toddler eats right off the table. So as I was wiping the table and high chair down, I looked at my wipe and it was completely brown. So much grime. That would be gross even if we weren't in a global pandemic. I thought restaurants had to have higher health standards but apparently wiping tables down between guests is not priority here. Yuck. We ordered apps, drinks, and our meals. Food was decent, typical bar food. Burgers were meh and fry serving size was sad for the price. The apps and drinks came out quickly. Then comes the meals... every meal was brought out one.by.one with at least five minutes in between. They insisted someone in our group ordered a meal they definitely did not order and brought it to her multiple times anyway. Weird. So everyone had to eat separately or awkwardly wait as their food got cold. Next came the second round of drinks. Well, they never really came. It took multiple times of asking to get them to the table. Workers in the restaurant were not wearing masks and the bathrooms were not cleaned recently as there was toilet paper all over the floor. I think I need to continue takeout until this pandemic is over.

Yelp
Above average bar food. One of my favorite restaurants in Southington. Especially like the chipotle chicken wrap. Solid chicken wings, especially the garlic-Parmesan. Love coming here after a round of golf as it is located at the Southington Country Club. Always crowded but I consider that a reflection of their quality food. Nice patio overlooking the golf course.

Yelp
Mediocre food. But service is always good and its a nice atmosphere in the warmer months. Good selection of sandwiches but nothing is eye popping. If the prices were a little more in line with the food it would be worth it.

Yelp
What a great surprise! I have played golf here and have enjoyed a beer and wings after a round and it was aok. Recently were told they out the outside dining and the menu has a lot to choose from and it is good. We did, and it is good!. We have been there twice and we see these themes. Friendly service. Lots of staff and they all want to make sure your happy. Food is good. We liked the pizza, e enjoyed the wings, a great salad and a "wow" on the lobster role. Late summer early fall is my favorite season and we will plan to get back and enjoy the outside casual dining.

Yelp
Had a great time at Back Nine Tavern last weekend! We were hungry, so we ordered quite the sampling of food. We started off with the Asian Pork Dumplings- fried dumplings served with a sesame ginger dipping sauce. They were great. Also tried the Chicken Quesadilla- flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken cheddar cheese, tomatoes and scallions. Came with sour cream too. Classic. The best appetizer though were the Trash Can Nachos- that was a pretty cool surprise. They had sausage chicken, taco meat, jalapeno, pico di gallo, house-made cheese sauce and came served with salsa, sour cream & guacamole. The cheese sauce was great! I typically order extra cheese on nachos- no need to here. Perfect just the way they are. Mealwise, my brother had a burger that looked really great. He ordered it with the yucca fries and had a chimichurri aioli dipping sauce. Those were great. Go yucca fries and switch things up with your sandwich. I ordered the Asian Beef Tip Pizza and it was out of this world good. It had marinated beef tips, mozzarella, red onions and was finished with habanero tabasco sauce. So good! We sat at the bar and had a really awesome bartender. Filled up our drinks super fast when they were close to empty. Great service and food combo. I'll definitely be back to try another pizza too. There are so many great specialty pizzas on the menu. Up next is the Loaded Mashed Potato Pizza!

Yelp
Two o'clock on a gorgeous Sunday we go to a restaurant on a golf course to sit outside. Are we crazy? Well maybe a little. We were rewarded with a great view, food, and service. I love a restaurant that can get away with it but doesn't try to. With their location, the rest of the experience can be mediocre and people will still come back. Not here! The service was great. Friendly and attentive. The food was also great. Had the Mozzarella Medallions. I've never seen it done this way but oh so good. Three sandwiches in our group all excellent! Drinks were tasty and a good value. We'll definitely go back.

Yelp
I love sitting on the deck, enjoying the view with lunch and a cocktail. The food is decent and they do have good choices.

Yelp
I could walk to this place, and although I do not play golf , I have dined in on many occasions. My mother goes here monthly with friends. Diverse menu which I think anyone can find something appealing--even vegans. I have never had their pizza but enjoyed the meatloaf dinner and other menu items. Relaxed atmosphere, usually super busy, particularly the bar.

Yelp
Back nine is my go to for Buffalo chicken pizza & espresso martinis. The bartenders are welcoming and provide quick/efficient service.

Yelp
Always a great time at BackNine Ashley and Joanie are alway a pleasure. Great you with smiles and are fun to be with. Highly recommend hanging here!

Yelp
Great environment outside to sit, enjoy your company and take in the views of the golf course. Service this time was great, our waitress Chelsea did a great job with us and dishes were cleared consistently by the workers there. Can I say how much I thoroughly enjoyed their unsweetened iced tea!?!?!? Not sure what was in it, but the taste was great! My husband and I shared some coal fired Asian Cowboy wings, a wedge salad, and the Coppo pizza. Only issue was we asked for the salad to come out first, but it came out the same time as the wings, then our pizza showed up shortly thereafter. Place was busy outside and inside when they left. And I enjoy all the palm trees and cabana looking umbrellas outside. We will be stopping here during the summer time!
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
Great chopped salad and nachos! Highly recommend especially in the summer to check this place out. They also have really good pizza!

Yelp
I had been told by a few friends to try the Back Nine and I was in the area not long ago and decided to stop by for dinner. It was fantastic! Sitting outside watching the sunset was great! The food was great, the staff was very friendly and the drinks were fantastic! Definitely will be going back! I wish we had a place like this in my town.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good. However, all bartenders and service people where doing shots with customers, multiple times. Along with verbal diarrhea with certain customers they were not attending to all customers.
google avatar

Yelp
Great outdoor environment. I enjoyed the palm trees and cabana style umbrellas on the tables. My husband and I ordered the burgers which were delicious! Plenty of parking and nice selection on the menu. There were a lot of great gluten-free options.

Yelp
I was reading some of the highly negative reviews, and can honestly say we experienced none of the poor service or food referenced in those reviews. Four of us had cocktails and appys here tonight and we had a very nice time. I'm on the executive board of an industry organization, and we met for a preliminary planning meeting for the 2015-16 year. We set up shop on the outdoor back patio overlooking the very nice scenery at the Southington Country Club. Our food was an order of eggplant fries ($8), Parmesan Quesadilla ($9), Cup of chili ($5), Asian Dumplings ($9), a side of meatballs ($12) and a Caesar with Chicken ($14). Photos of everything are attached. I didn't think the fries were that great, they were on the flaccid mushy side. But the quesadilla was terrific-- thick with cheese and massively portioned- it was a pretty good $9 value. The cup of chili was very good too- nicely spiced and served hot with a side of tortilla chips. The meatballs might appear pricey at 2 for $12, but wait till you see how big they are - the dish turned out to be a pretty good value. Beers ran $4.50, wines were $5, a Tito's vodka ran $6.25, and a Jamo on the rocks ran $8.50. Our bill for four ran $134, and we had plenty to eat and drink in a beautiful setting. No complaints with the service either, our servers were pleasant and cheerful. We had a very pleasant evening and may book an event here in the Fall.

Yelp
My family and I love to find new places to try all the time. Every Friday, which is probably the worst night of the week to go out, we try to find a new restaurant to go to. A few weeks ago my husband picked Back 9 Tavern because he had heard about their fantastic burgers. I was skeptical of course because of the restaurant being part of a golf course. Well, let me just begin by saying we have fantastic service and there was not a wait on a busy Friday night. My husband and I both got the Jack Daniels burger which was amazing. My mom had the pulled pork sandwich. I am not a French fry enthusiast like many of my friends and family. So, I opted for their green bean fries. We also started with their poutine special- while I can't do fries, throw some cheese and gravy on that bad boy and I'm in heaven. My only disappointment with the poutine was that there was not a lot of cheese- but they used mozzarella so I can understand that. We have loved Back 9 so much that we asked for their private events menu and have booked the room for our daughter's baptism. Pete has been so great to work with. I am so excited. Hats off to you Back 9!

Gail P.

Yelp
We stopped at the back nine yesterday. I just thought it would be a quiet little spot. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the bartender she was totally overwhelmed. There was may be nine people sitting at the bar I ordered a drink. She totally forgot about me, left the bar unattended and was helping with some delivery. It was terrible service food was just (OK ) chop salad and chicken fingers. We (did ) leave a tip, which is the right thing to do but the service was horrible. I don't think I'll be going back soon.

Yelp
What happened? :( We had lunch here about a year ago and the service/food was great. As was the great view on the outside patio overlooking the golf course. SO great that we invited friends to meet us there for lunch last Saturday. Night and difference as far as service and food. I'm usually forgiving, but our food just wasn't good at all. My wife and I had a grilled turkey sandwich and neither of us liked it. The bread was wet from the sauce and the bacon was very undercooked and chewy. I had to pull it from my sandwich. My onion rings were overcooked and soaked with oil. About 1/3 of the rings were so burned I couldn't eat them. We also had eggplant fries which were overcooked as well. The French fries, though, were very good. As was the salad our friend had. This visit was so disappointing compared to our last one. Hopefully our experience was an exception, but we sadly won't be returning.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite spots! We started with beers and wings - the hot wings aren't really spicy to us although the flavor is good. We are also big fans of the Shrimp Scampi pizza! Their crust is thin and delicious!! It's always consistently good!! The service is also very good! At one point, a group had gathered at the bar whose conversation seemed to overpower our table conversation but we will return again!!

Yelp
There's something about this place that I love. The food is really good and the atmosphere is lively. I tried the pizza, wings, and sandwiches. Everything was tasty and well prepared. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the golf course. Live DJ on Sundays. Definitely check it out.

Yelp
Delicious. The coal fired wings are amazing as are the pizzas. One of my favorite spots for a takeout dinner.

Yelp
Always good for watching sporting events.$10 pasta specials every Monday night. Quality of food very good. First time I ever had a turkey burger that actually tasted like turkey.

Yelp
Can't wait for Patio to open. Pizza is super. Love Jacky And Kate. I've been under the weather a little lately they treat me like one of there best customers. Great family place

Yelp
This place isn't just for golfers, I've come here a handful of time and sat both inside and out. The outside is preferred as there are some high top tables as well as tables with electric fire places in the middle. My favorite is the Fresh sushi-grade tuna, tossed in a garlic sesame soy sauce served in a cucumber cup, topped with cucumber wasabi aioli, ($12), it's a little pricey for an app but worth it, I order it every time. I also had the wings and quesadilla which were also both good. Overall, it's a nice place to hang when it's warm out with the golf course scenery and nice back patio.

Yelp
The back nine is a very good restaurant in Southington I enjoy the bar I think you will too.

Yelp
Food is mediocre at best ! Don't go out of your way to go here if you're not playing golf. The deck is nice with a great view. The service was good but the food wasn't great the onion rings were greasy and overcooked. Not a bad spot for drinks eat somewhere else.

Yelp
Today we attended a private event at the resultant in their private room just off of the main restaurant. The room was large and did a nice job of accommodating the 60ish people there. They did a brunch buffet - eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, breakfast potatoes, waffles, salad, pasta with vodka sauce and chicken Marsala. I stuck with the more breakfast items and they were all great. The eggs weren't cooked to the point of being dried out, which is what I usually expect in a buffet. They were moist, warm, and delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned, and the waffles were just a tad crunchy, which is how I like them. The cheddar biscuits were delicious - although I wish they had been warmer. There was wait staff right there when a plate needed to be cleared and they were super attentive when there were questions. My partner enjoyed the pasta with vodka sauce as well as the chicken. It was a great experience.

Yelp
Back Nine is a great place for food and drink. Rick the chef, is outstanding and has an great feel for his clients and their tastes. Don't hesitate to stop by.....from burgers to main dish you won't go wrong.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Probably the finest quality "Tavern" food in Connecticut. Run by the Calvanese (Aqua Turf, New Mill). New York style wood fired pizza, Seafood, Steaks, Burgers and specialty sandwiches. Plus, Chef Rick is always coming up with interesting specials for the week. Bar and wait staff are all top shelf.

Yelp
Just visited the back nine for the first time after golfing 18 holes. We had Gina as a server!! She was excellent and I loved her personality. She was professional but also had a great sense of humor. I will definitely be back here again and hopefully I have Gina again as my server. While golfing we had a cart girl named Chelsea who was also very professional and had a phenomenal sense of humor. I would completely recommend golfing and eating here!!!!!

Yelp
Went here with another couple and 8 kids this weekend. Service was outstanding. Waitress was very patient with our crew and the owner stopped to pick up a sippy cup our youngest dropped. We had pizza which was excellent. Eggplant pizza was a hit, even with the little ones. Cheese and pepperoni were all gone too.

Kara B.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. It's one of the closest restaurants to our house so we have been here enough in the last 4 years that the lunch waitstaff know us. I'm very partial to their buffalo wings. So good without being too greasy or saucy, and blue cheese dressing has big lumps of cheese. Both the chopped salad and the wedge salad are enormous and always fresh. The pizza is reliably good. My husband really likes their steak sandwich. And when they have them, absolutely stellar hot lobster rolls. Only a couple of drawbacks. First, parking is good in the winter but in the summer it's awful, even on rainy days. If you go at 6pm on a nice day, be prepared to walk from Mary Our Queen across the street. Second, if you pick up, which we often do, there's no easy way to collect your order because it's seat yourself; you have to pay at the bar and hope they're not too busy to flag down a server to get it for you. Frequently on take out if you order wings the celery is limp and old. Luckily I opt for a salad with it so I don't care as much and just toss the celery. Overall, it's decent and I go back at least once a month!
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good, service is extremely slow and it wasn't busy when we arrived. The paint nite sessions are way to crowded no room to properly lay out supplies. The drinks were good.
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to enjoy an afternoon outside, sip on a drink, and grab a bite to eat. Such a peaceful atmosphere overlooking the golf course. Attentive service. I love the buffalo chicken wrap and the meatball app is SO good (that sauce and ricotta tho ). Also of note; their banquet area is great...we held a birthday gathering there. The food was exceptional and staff was very kind and helpful during the planning and set up process. I will continue to be a frequent customer and highly recommend others to give the back 9 in Southington a visit!
google avatar

Brion B.

Yelp
Awesome pizza, wood fired "naked" chicken wings and lots of TVs. Great local sports bar. Best golf course in the area too, had a tournament here once and they have both an indoor and outdoor banquet facility. Food is on point and lots of draft beers.
google avatar

Gretchen Y.

Yelp
We love going here for drinks and food! Best espresso martini! They even brew the espresso fresh! My husband loved the $20 deal for five domestic bottles and either 20 wings or 4 (big) sliders that is offered during college or NFL football games. He went for the Yuengling domestic bottles. Our favorite foods include the indulgent blue cheese garlic bread, Jack Daniels wings, chopped salad, eggplant pizza, and any of their burgers! I don't eat red meat, but I always have a hard time choosing between the tuna, salmon or turkey burger. Enjoy the patio in warmer weather!
google avatar

Meghan R.

Yelp
I love going here in the summer, they have a very nice patio area where you can drink cocktails and watch the sun set! So far all the food I have tried has been delicious!

Yelp
I've been to the back nine a couple of times. The service is generally good if you're a regular but if not, good luck having a friendly encounter with anybody that works there. Recently I went there but made a mistake on the tip. Before I could correct my mistake the "bartender" rudely asked "how was the service because you didn't tip enough." Instead of listening to a response she stormed off to pout without caring about my reasoning. I left her an extra tip on the bar to correct my mistake but I wish I hadn't due to the attitude she had. I have never experienced a bartender questioning the amount a costumer has tipped and I would have been receptive to her questioning my tip with it being a mistake if I wasn't approached in such a rude manner. Regardless I did the right thing and tipped her the proper amount even though the way I was treated was uncalled for. This has completely turned off to a facility in which I used to enjoy going to. Better have an in if you expect to be treated with respect.

Yelp
Just went for drinks with my girlfriends but had an excellent time and will definitely go back soon! Gina was our waitress and she was attentive, friendly and kind.

Anonymous S.

Yelp
This establishment looked inviting pulling up but then once me and my friends got inside it quickly went down hill. We went last night ( Halloween weekend) to enjoy a night out and since this is a bar you would think they would have someone checking I.Ds and making sure everyone was of age. Not one person including the "bartenders" asked for I.Ds Also because it's Halloween you would think they'd have a sign or someone checking for costumes that are appropriate. Getting a drink at this place was IMPOSSIBLE! 3 bartenders and over a 30 minute wait for 3 beers and a water that she didn't even give us.. UNACCEPTABLE! We clearly said we'd ordered a water and she turned her back to us. Everyone that works in this industry including myself would know bartenders divide the bar and go up and down the line. Being polite and saying "sorry for the wait I'll get you next" is part of the business. Rolling your eyes and feeling like your customers are bothering you is how you lose business. It was also clear who were the regulars and friends of these bartenders because they focused their attention to one side of the bar. Multiple people around us were getting annoyed because they weren't coming to one side of the bar. Management should really take control and train these bartenders how to hustle, make some money, and proper etiquette. What really took this over the edge was the TWO fights that we happened to see before we left! The first one was 2 guys that start to push and shove each other which eventually lead to their fists! WHERE ARE THE BOUNCERS!!!!!!!! For the amount of people in the bar they should've had 1 at the front and back door and 1 standing inside the bar. Luckily no one pulled a knife and their friends broke them apart. The next fight was from a girl who was with a group of her friends and was asking for their tab to be closed. Like I said previously these bartenders were rude. I was standing on the further end of the bar and this bartender was rolling her eyes and not closing their tab so they could leave. Why? Who knows..the bartender didn't seem busy and if so a simple I'm sorry I'll be with you in a second would do. None of that happened. This bartender started raising her voice and saying rude comments. HELLO WHERE'S THE MANAGER!! From there it escalated! The bartender called the girl a C*** B**** and some other random girl across the bar was saying to kick them out. The girl threw her drink at the bartender that called her names and left. Yes it was poorly handled but due to what was said and how they were treated as CUSTOMERS I don't blame her. The staff should always take the high road and handle it with class. As the girl was leaving, this random guy was about to grab her when I'm thinking her boyfriend stood in front to say they were leaving and it's not necessary when he was pushed and punched in the face! This caused multiple people to follow them including the bartender to go after them! What happened I'm not sure but Back Nine should be embarrassed of how this situation was handled. We left shortly after and saw it still escalating in the parking lot with a crowd threatening those 2 people and the group they were with...again WHERE ARE THE BOUNCERS?!!! Needless to say my friends and I will never go back to the Back Nine. The professionalism isn't there and is lacking leadership and safety for both their staff & customers.

Yelp
I give back nine 5 stars! Food is always on point. Pizza is delish and cooked in a coal oven. Wraps are great! They have a great room to rent for parties with a private bar . Patio is amazing during spring/summer.
