Backåkra Hostel

Stayed in this place for a week with my family. Absolutely great for the kids to run around. The kitchen facilities are great and the outdoor garden is really fantastic. Wifi is weak and not suitable for most things. (Not necessarily a bad thing if you want to be more connected to the moment). Rooms are adequate but would recommend thicker curtains for the summer months. All in all a great place to spend time with the family.

We only stayed here one night during our road trip trough Sweden, yet the impression was overall good. The structure has the simplicity that you would expect from a hostel, with basic facilities. The atmosphere is really quiet, the rooms clean and big enough, the common hall quiet and large. We had a nice walk in the surroundings (beautiful Osterlen hills) and could enjoy the evening in the yard. We found the staff very kind, and they were ready to welcome us even if we arrived a little over time. You of curse have not to expect too much, I repeat - this is a hostel! I would recommend it.

If you are in for something different, then skip the hotels in this region and go for Backåkra. This B&B is situated in and old school on the southern coast just a few miles from the wonderful town of Ystad on Österlen. The B&B is thus in the countryside, but what countryside it is! When you're there, walk across the street and take the narrow path up the hill to say hello to the cows. Continue on the slope down towards the coastline. At the camping place take right and get back to the main street, eventually. ||||The rooms are very basic, some large, some really small. No toilets in the rooms, they are all in the corridors. But who cares? This is like living in a commune in the '70s. Just fantastic!

Only reason this place is still around imho is because of the location.. they NEED MORE BATHROOMS.. and A REAL WIFI NETWORK that actually works.. rooms are clean and tidy but overall things are pricey and not sure what the money is used for...I would recommend avoiding this place if you can.

Nice location. Quite worn down but cosy breakfast area and good breakfast. Very simple cottage. No amenities. Not great service.

Läget ok, sängarna bra. Vid bokningen berömde, värden Per deras frukost vilket innebar att vi beställde den. Tyvärr var detta ett misstag. |När Per vid vår avfärd frågade om allt varit bra, upplyste jag om att frukosten inte motsvarade det han sagt, på många ställen har jag bott men aldrig sett så tunna skivor av melon, äggen skalade, upplagda och delade i sex delar, detta gav ett mycket snålt intryck, visserligen hembakade frukostbröd men det var enda av värde med denna frukost. Likaså var det smutsiga trädgårdsmöbler. Per upplyste om att jag kunde ju letat upp dynor, fanns ingen upplysning om var dessa fanns. |Det hela slutade med att Per talade om att vi inte var välkomna att bo där fler gånger, vilket vi naturligtvis aldrig mer kommer att göra. |Kommer naturligtvis ej rekommendera detta ställe till någon. För våga aldrig kommentera något på vandrarhemmet för då är du inte önskvärd här!

Mycket fint vandrarhem med vacker innergård. Mycket trevligt bemötande av värden. Gott om plats, rena utrymmen så som kök och toaletter/duschar. Bra med handfat på rummen. Rekommenderas varmt.

This was a very nice hostel for our family of four. It is very clean, lots of light, and a fantastic large kitchen to use. (The garden area also looked lovely, but it was rainy when we were there.) Staff is available during limited hours, but they were helpful with us coming in late and giving a code to get the key. This is in a very remote, but gorgeous area. The nearest grocery store is 8 kilometers away. Ale's Stones are an incredible sight, as is the nearby Glimmingehus.
