Backcountry Safaris was the company that the hotel we were staying at in Jackson uses for it's tours of both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone.
I take picking out tours very seriously, because I hate taking them. I'm one of those people who likes to do things themselves, make my own itinerary, and being on a tour means other people dictate what I want to see. I did a lot of research and found a company I liked. However, the price was a bit outrageous and when I saw my hotel offering the same tour, with pick up from the hotel, not the middle of town, I took a chance.
Well, that chance paid off really well because we had a fantastic time. Backcountry Safaris will sometimes use other companies because of demand and we actually were paired with Gus from Teton Wilderness Tours. If this happens to you, don't fret. It was amazing and I will cherish the memories we made with this day for years to come.
We did the half day, sunrise Grand Teton Tour. We were the only ones on the tour that day so it felt very exclusive and it was like we paid for a private tour. Gus did everything he could to get us to see wildlife. We got some great shots of moose and we even saw 3, yes 3(!), bald eagles. We also learned a lot about the area and it's history.
Highly recommend!
