My partner and I had an incredible stay in one of the charming small vintage cabins at Backeddy Resort! 😊 The cabin was perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway and we loved using the fireplace. The views were gorgeous to wake up to, and we were lucky enough to spot seals swimming in the water and eagles flying above us. The pub became our favourite evening hangout spot - the atmosphere was so welcoming and the live music made for such memorable nights. Foods and drinks were delicious :)) We also booked the night time bioluminescence kayak tour through Metta Eco Experiences on the premise which was absolutely magical and definitely worth every penny! 🙏 This place offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. The drive up the Sunshine Coast was scenic, and Backeddy Resort made for an unforgettable escape from the city.

We moored here two nights. Engaged friendly service, pub with great food, Luc was very helpful on the gas dock, and their partner tour operator, Sunshine Coast tours, did a great one day trip from marina to Princess Louisa sound. It’s a great stop if you’re in the area.

Google
Incredibly friendly staff both at the reception and at the pub, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome throughout our stay! The cabins (The wooden ones) aren’t that well insulated so lots of heat escapes, but the fireplace absolutely makes up for it! You are provided everything you need to cook as well, frying pan and spatula etc. Awesome stay! We will be back 😊

We had a lovely long weekend stay here. The cabins are cozy (I love the fireplace so much). The staff were AMAZING!! I’m glad there was a kitchenette so we could cook something simple. The bed was good; I slept so well.

We stayed at the marina. It took 3 calls on the radio before we got a response. No one came to help us with lines, or to direct exactly where we were supposed to tie up. No attendant at the gas bar, and no one in the reception/office/store. Just a sign to say they were out on the property and will return. Not a well run marina in my opinion.

Great night in one of the front cabins. View was great, bed comfy and dog friendly. Had dinner at the Pub and campfire after.

Stayed in one of the vintage cabins in January 2025 for our annual corporate retreat. They are definitely vintage!! Which we found very charming and with the wood stove, extremely cozy. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!

It's an amazing place! They cook everything fresh and always provide a lot of new dishes 😋 the best food on a coast!

Yelp
Even though I live in the area, I had never been to the Back Eddy. That was a mistake on my part for sure. Just returned from a fabulous lunch there. The menu is mall but diverse - something for everyone. I had the steelhead burger . Not sure what was better - the burger with the perfectly grilled bun or the perfectly spiced fries. Delicious My friend had the meat burger and also loved it. Next time I might have to try the fish tacos. And of course the view is pretty amazing!! Will definitely be back in the near future!

Yelp
The food is fantastic. Really didn't know what to expect given how far off the beaten path this place is but it really wow'd us. The fish and chips were extraordinary. Light batter and fish that melted in your mouth like butter. The tartar sauce was excellent.

Yelp
Great food in such an unexpected location. Lovely to sit on the back patio with excellent water views. Service was polite and prompt.

Yelp
Nice spot for lunch after visiting the Skookumchuck Narrows. We had pints of beer (a handful of local BC choices on tap) and shared fish and chips. The chips are hand cut daily and super tasty, and it came with one huge fried fish filet. Batter was crispy and light. Patio had a nice view over the water and the service was friendly.

Yelp
I stayed here for a couple of nights and came to eat at the pub for dinner. Couldn't pick between the fish tacos and pork belly tacos so got both and tried a bite of their fish and chips. The fish was really fresh and the batter was light. It wasn't greasy. Came with some fries and a tasty coleslaw with apple bits and pumpkin seeds. The tacos were really small for the price. They were delicious! The pork belly pieces were thick and it was too rich/meaty for me. Limited choice for beers. Would've been nice to see more beers. Overall quite pricey. Service was good. Sit out in the patio. The view's unreal!

Yelp
Stayed at the resort for a couple nights with two other friends. It's a great spot for a little downtime and creative space. The cabins are super cozy with a fireplace and sufficiently furnished with all the necessary basics for making nice light meals. Taking in the stars at night on the cabin patios is unbeatable. There's great bioluminescence up that side, but didn't walk down to the marina to check it out. The pub has great food, brews and views! My friends had the egmoster burger and I had the steak & fries which were both pretty great. The steak is served on a slice of bread covered in caramelized onions which was a first, but is nice in the end to wipe the plate clean ;) Did some kayaking during slack tide, which gives you a good hour or few to take in the inlet. The resident seals are pretty curious, but cagey. The skookumchuck narrows are near as well at the end of a light trail which is good for walking or a quick, but fun run! Make sure to check the resort manual in your cabin for tidal charts so you can time the best flood or ebb tide for the standing waves or whirlpools respectively! Will go back!!

Yelp
Terrible service. Horrible stuff. Stale food. Heavy waitress is rude. Salad is stale. U tell them they say it's the dressing vinegratte. Geez I can tell the difference between stale food and a dressing w vinegar. Don't ask too many questions. They have no time for you. Don't bother w the food either. Food comes in huge portions, if that's what you are after.

Yelp
I specifically downloaded Yelp again... to give Backeddy Pub a higher rating. The tacos were delicious, we had both the pork belly and the steelhead trout. Paired perfectly with a cold beer and THIS VIEW. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fast, even though they were hosting a small wedding. I thought it was going to take much longer but it was speedy. Their COVID procedures were well thought out and I felt very safe ordering from there. Thank you!

Yelp
On a weekday night, our big group filled up their whole pub. Every single seat was taken, except for a couple of tables on the patio. Right by the water, this place has great views of the entrance to the Skookumchuck Rapids. So, summary of the night. We preordered our items ahead of time in hopes that the night would flow smoothly. Instead, I think it made everything more confusing, as the servers had no idea where each person was sitting. Their martini list is unique. I got one with a organic apple cider, and Goldschläger (my first time trying it, it's a Swiss cinnamon schnapps liqueur). Essentially tasted like a apple cinnamon cocktail-pretty delicious! Appies. Wings were sold out, but they didn't let anyone know and then brought our calamari instead. Orders were missed, and food took a long time. The calamari was just alright, it came with this chipotle sauce but didn't really go well. Main: they have the famous Skookum burger, along with a 10 oz beef patty, bacon, egg (if you wish), and veggies. I got a salmon lasagna. It was probably the worst tasting pasta I've ever had. Really. Actually ther was no taste, there were just chunks of salmon within the dish. Again, people's orders were missed and mixed up. They were also running of plates, glasses.... The whole dinner took around 2 and a half hours. It was long, and some people were still hungry. I understand that we were a large group but we did preorder to make it easier for them. Hmmm, this place might be better on another day, when we don't fill up the pub...

Yelp
We were with a group of 10 for lunch. Service was very good. We chose a variety of entrees and we all agreed that the food was excellent! Even the fries were notably good. Nice selection of craft beer and the waiter recommended a really tasty IPA. We had a chance to chat with the manager later on the dock, since we were staying in the marina. He was quite friendly and was very interested in our opinions. We would certainly return if we cruise this way again.

Yelp
This place has a reputation for terrific food...not today. Chicken wings were super greasy to the point of slimy. Service was friendly but slow and neglectful, as in can we have side plates; cutlery, napkins etc. The place was 1/3 full and they were overwhelmed. Long way to drive for a lousy lunch.

Gerald G.

Yelp
Here for a late lunch. Excellent Covid-19 precautions. Great coffee and an excellent Artisan Salad with grilled chicken. I especially like the service changes to protect staff and clients--clean tables and pick up your own drinks and salads.

Yelp
We visited here on our way back from Skookumchuck Narrows, we had the burger and chips. Good size portions with tasty fries, the vegetarian burger wasn't anything special but I was told the beef burgers were tasty. Over priced for what you get with the food in a relaxed setting bar come restaurant.

Max M.

Yelp
They don't allow minors, which is ridiculous for the only restaurant in a resort that allows children. And they were quite unfriendly about it too: "The locals prefer it like that". OK, then. (To be fair they allow kids in a crappy "family in the back") I'm trying to remember the food, might have been ok, but the anti-family policy is what sticks out.

Eilidh M.

Yelp
NEVER stay here!!! I cancelled my booking at the lodging by phone, but they still went ahead and charged me nearly $200 for a deposit fee & refuse to reimburse the erroneous charge. These people are crooks.

Yelp
Their goat cheese with baked fruit and roast garlic is fantastic. The skookum burger is enormous. Good pricing. Good service. Good food. Amazing view.

Yelp
Lunch at the pub. Fish and Chips, (ling cod) were very crispy and tasty. Salmon Tacos, (Sockeye) were very good and well presented. Service was excellent.

Yelp
We were a big group that jumped in on this location and so to be fair. I'm sure that they would be really good for burgers and a beer. If that were the case, it'd be a 4 star pub with Pool table and a great patio!!! However, it wasn't the case for my groupies. We had to order in advance to make sure that such a large group could be accomadated and thinking this was a good thing to do, we did order in advance. When we got there, the waitresses tried their best to help us out with our orders but for some reason, even the items that were ordered in advance were not available. Chicken wings sold out, try the calamari instead. Hmmmm ok. How bout changing the beef strew? it seems that it was a winter menu item and was specially made for the groupies. One groupie ws asked to keep his pre-order because it did take a long time to prepare and was specially made for this occasion. When it came out, it didn't look very good. Groupie 1 wouldn't even touch it and instead gorged on the fries (which were crisp and tasty BTW). I dared to try the grey colourless stew and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Was it frozen and then preheated? It seemed that way. Want a Martini? with Ice? Hmmmmm.....cool idea though. (but I doubt martini's are common here.) Dishes were mixed from one table to another and, well, I'd better stop here. Why? Despite all the challenges this place in getting the food out, I had a great experience and this review should really be based on my personal dining experience here. Not based on others. I ordered the salad - very nice Then my main course was a specially ordered dish of tofu, boiled fish and peas and greens with no salt and oil. PERFECT!!!! for me. I did sample some of the other dishes so I can also write about them too. Had a bit of their giant burger which was good, but a bit too salty. My other groupie buddy who had ordered it, did enjoy his meal. but there was concern that a man of his stature could even finish one! It wasn't that big........but if you do get it, come on an empty stomach. The meat pie was good basic pub food. the Fish n Chips were good, but the serving seemed pretty small. The calamari seemed small as well. It was like they had to portion out the dishes smaller because they didn't have enough food to spread around. Maybe the supplier didn't get their order right and they didn't have enough, or maybe the stove broke down or they didn't have enough glasses or plates to keep the food rotating fast enough. One comment from another groupie was "they serve an amazingly mean Corona beer! Awesome!" But all Jesting aside and the fact that there were some negatives. I really do think that on a normal day without those darned city dwellers to muck things up. The food and drinks here are bar none the best in town! So don't let this review get you down. If you are nearby, drop on in and I'm sure you'll have a great meal! If you have too many beers? Play some soccer in the bathroom. You'll know what I'm talking about! Cheers All! (my thumbs are sore from typing this on the i-phone!!)

Yelp
My husband and I were at Egmont and decided to have dinner at the Backeddy Pub. Service was prompt and the care was there. Our meals were the "Baby Skookum" Burger (pure beef burger with aioli, bacon, sautéed onions & mushrooms, and cheddar cheese) and the 1 piece beer-battered fish and chips. We regularly go to Romers Burger Bar in Vancouver, and they could take a lesson on delicious food from Backeddy Pub; the "Baby Skookum" burger was huge and perfectly cooked, messy and delicious; the thin-cut fries were crisp and satisfying; the coleslaw was the best my husband has ever tasted, anywhere. The prices were comparable to gourmet burger bars in Vancouver and the quality and quantity of the food easily merited the prices, plus there is a fantastic view of Sechelt Inlet! We were very pleased and would be happy to visit there again.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Great deck with a view of the start of Sechelt Inlet. Good selection of food and craft beers. Great service. A great place to spend a summer afternoon after visiting the rapids at Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park.

Yelp
Over rated. Cheap boring bread for sandwiches. My salmon sandwich was more like canned salmon in a simple lunch my hurried mom might have packed for my school lunch. My wife's poutine was made with bland shredded cheese rather than cheese curds. The sauce tasted very packaged and too thick. It wasn't really poutine. Unfortunately the building also missed the mark. It could be so much more. Instead it is a very nondescript.building with no character. It's only endearing feature was the fire place and view of the boats. The whole experience was a let down after the hour and half drive from Gibsons.

Yelp
My wife and i were attending a wedding at the wilderness lodge next door to the back eddy resort. All the rooms where booked for the wedding party so we called in advance to book a campsite for two nights. When we arrived we saw some tents set up next to a gravel drive way on a small grass area. Amidst the tents was a broken down early 80s Volvo that had weeds growing in it and possibly a raccoon living in it.so we jokingly renamed the resort the junk yard.it was nearly impossible to set up the tents in our 10 by 10 campsite due to gravel being under the water logged swampy grass.we managed to get the tent setup after some creative use of some chunks of cement and wood from the junk pile near the Volvo.first night a squatter set up a tent near mine late at night and left early in the morning to avoid payment. There was an unleashed large husky running around all day and night all seemed to be trained to defecate out side people's tent. Have you ever woken up at 6 am and step in a warm pile of dog shit outside your tent? It was enchanting.there was a tap to get water from but the tap was wrapped in duct tape and could not turn off fully. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was fresh water and not salt water directly fed from the ocean. It smelled like urinal cakes most of the time since the campsite if very close to there washrooms which i may add were absolutely disgusting and one stall had feces lovingly smeared in the shape of a heart on the back of the door. We only stayed one night and decided to sleep in our van to get away from this run down trash heap of resort. The staff were inept and confused at the pub and they forgot my fries which they over charged me for.All in all this was a pretty great place and would recommend it to any looking to find accommodations while in egmont

Katy W.

Yelp
Great little pub to visit after a trip to the Skook on a sunny afternoon! We stopped in on Saturday afternoon and had some poutine and beers out on the patio. The local beer selection was definitely appreciated! Keep an eye out for wildlife on the shore. In under two hours we spotted a heron, a few bald eagles, seals and sea lions! Definitely would recommend this spot for visitors passing by and looks like a beautiful, peaceful place to spend a few nights.

John K.

Yelp
We were in Egmont to enjoy the views and just chill. Backeddy has some very nice cabins. If you want all the amenities of a fine hotel look elswhere. If you want fine dining look elsewhere. If you want to sit on their balcony, with a fantastic vista, sipping on a cold Kokanee and/or a bloody Caeser, with a decent hamburger, then this is THE place.
