Our stay has been perfect. The staff of the hostel are welcoming and have helped us with everything we needed. Also, the location couldn't be better, very central to visit mumbai.

Had an incredible stay in Mumbai! The location is perfect—just a few minutes away from the Gateway of India, yet in a peaceful and pleasant neighborhood. The dorms and bathrooms are spacious and kept clean. The place is fully air-conditioned and offers basic kitchen facilities, along with drinking water, complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks. The common areas are great, and the reception is open 24/7. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful!

I had a very disappointing experience at Backpackers Cowies. I had booked a superior room but was allotted a completely different room, which was not as promised. The room seepage and fungus on the walls, making it extremely uncomfortable and unhealthy to stay in. To make matters worse, there was a leaking washroom pipe in the balcony, which was continuously dripping and created a terrible stench throughout the area. The overall condition of the room did not meet even basic hygiene standards. For the price charged, this kind of maintenance is completely unacceptable. I had expected much better service and basic upkeep, but unfortunately, the stay was quite unpleasant. Definitely not recommended unless they seriously improve their maintenance and customer service.

I stayed here in the last week of April for an exam. The important feature of this hostel is its location.It is located in the heart of Colaba. It is easily accessible from CSMT via local transport or cabs. Also it is at a walkable distance from Gateway of India and many other tourist spots. The hostel is best for the amount they charge. Rooms were pretty much cleaned and maintained well(some walls may need repair). The bathroom was neat and clean. The kitchen facility is really helpful and have morning tea and biscuit (self service). The workers are also really helpful. The receptionist was very welcoming and explained everything. He suggested the best restaurant options based on my needs. They charge a security deposit of 200 at checkin for keycard which is returned during checkout. Also they have an AC policy of turning it off between 12pm to 5pm. Overall it was a good experience staying here and I will suggest anyone going mumbai to here only.

Amazing place to stay in Mumbai! The location is unbeatable, few minutes from India Gateway and in a quite and nice neighborhood! The dorms and toilets are spacious and clean! Fully AC and with basic kitchen facilities, drinking water and complimentary tea, coffee and snacks! The shared areas are cool, the reception is open 24/7 and the staff is so kind!

Used to stay here almost every weekend till one of their “long term” guests physically accosted and aggressively pursued a female guest. There’s a certain long term guest - Anupam - who makes the place unsafe for women. Word of warning for anyone considering to stay there It’s a good location, great staff, but they should be careful about who they allow to stay long term at the property.

The owner of the property is very helpful, down to earth and caring. The location is awesome. The property is very secure and gives you a hint of old heritage. The beds are cozy and comfortable. Only two things where I noticed opportunities for improvement: 1) The rooms are not properly painted and dull sections are visible 2) The receptionist lady did not seem very positive and welcoming

We had a good experience at Cowies hostel, 24/7 reception and nice private room in a really good location. Sadly there were no pre offered tours during off season but they offered to organise a guide for us if we wanted. Softdrinks available, common area to chill with books and games. The surroundings also feel safe!
