There are pros and cons to this place. I shall start with the pros ( because they outweigh the cons) Pros: - good and clean bedrooms. Provided with all the bed necessities. - constant wifi -Good spread for breakfast - Close to hbf and not far from various locations of the city. If not walkable, there's bus and tram stations close by that can take you where you want. - good restaurants close by - not very expensive ( compared to other places in Düsseldorf) Cons: - common bathrooms. While on its own it's not an issue, it tends to get dirty and it isn't very well lit up. But that may have been a one odd experience. - most rooms require you to climb a flight of stairs and this may prove to be an issue if you have certain health conditions preventing you from doing so or if you have heavy bags ( say if you're staying the night before a flight). Personally this wasn't an issue but it could be. - there is a baggage storage place but it is very small and at max can fit 6 bags which isn't enough considering the number of people who stay there. Stating all this, I do recommend this place. I personally have booked it three times.

Perfect for my needs. Price is fair, facilities (kitchen, shower, lockers) are good. You can enter 24/7. The neighbourhood is nothing to fear and it is right next to an U-bahn station (as well as close to trams). When i was here (november) it was quiet.

The rudest guy I have ever encountered and the worst hostel I have ever solo travelled in. Recommend you to - STAY AWAY AND NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE. On first impression, there’s no staff on the premises and there’s no culture of bonhomie among guests. But that is fine and does not by itself warrant a bad review. The guy who works here/owns this place is truly one of the most unhelpful/unempathetic people I have seen in a hostel. Here’s why. 1. He decided to take my linen away even before I checkout for the day, and decides to ‘check me out’ just because I have my stuff packed almost an entire hour before checkout. Again, I am willing to live with this, but here comes the clincher. 2. I tell him I am sick and might need to extend my stay for a bit. I ask him rather politely if I can just stay in the premises till 5 pm (checkout is at 11 am and he has no system in place for PAID late checkout but somehow is willing to have my stay extend by a day and pay the whole fare lol), and his instance response was accusatory. In his own words, ‘I know this game’. When you accuse your guests of overstaying almost without any evidence, that’s seriously disrespectful. He goes on to talk about how he has cameras everywhere, which really does not mean anything anyway! 3. He has not the first inkling of how to be hospitable and does not take even a second to answer questions for a visibly sick traveler, while dismissing them. It’s surprising how that’s almost a basic acceptable human quality, let alone hospitality training 101. 4. He gave me a long winded answer to how it’s difficult ‘organizationally’ to have late checkout but for some reason, does not really care about what the customer (I) think about/want from this hostel experience. 5. There are no luggage storage areas for anybody with slightly larger luggages. And the 8 spaces that are there get filled super quick (just 8 for like 50 odd visitors). How are hostels even built without thinking of this almost basic customer problem.

I give it two and a half stars only for hygienic reasons. It was a quiet and friendly place, with a kitchen and a decent breakfast, very good location. The thing that really ruined the experience was how dirty the toilets were when the staff was not there. I saw them cleaning during their shift but after 11 am -when there's no staff at the hostel until the next morning- the guests were responsible for the hygiene. I've noticed that guests did not leave the restroom in a position that could be used after them. One night I took cleaning products and cleaned the toilet seat so I could use it, because it was left in a really disgusting state. *Edited* The problem was that the hostel was left unattended after 11 am. No staff around to maintain a reasonable hygiene (nothing extreme).

Lockers are very large and specious. Breakfast is good. The staff opened windows and doors and there was a bit cold during breakfast. Leaving baggage after check in is very valuable. TV in common area did not work or I was not able to use it. One of two sinks in 2 floor clogged and I had to go downstairs. Two story bed is with bad geometry. There is very small space (65 cm) for 1st story person. I am 1,85m tall and it was a bit hard to sit and climb in and out. Maybe it is for kids or very small people. The lamp by the bed was making noise and it was hearable in night. I did not receive an email in day of arrival. Probably that was not fault of hostel, because in my booking.com acount there was a message, but I was not the only one with this problem. There was an older gentelmen who was very stressed about situation and could not find information in his account. He tried calling and sending messages but with no success. I let him in my 8 person room where were 2 free beds available. Otherwise he would be sitting in common area all night because hostel staff was not answering. While everything works fine, self check in is good, but when you have problems, then there should be someone who can help. That was not provided in this property. Someone drank my jougurt which was in fridge. Thanks owner for answering to some of issues. 1.You are right. There were only 6 beds. My mistake. 2.Maybe gentelmen had information on spam folder. I did not check his whole phone. Thing is he did not get assistance when he was strugling to access that information. There could be situation that someones phone broke down or something and there should be assistance from staff if there would be this kind of problem. 3.Bed length and width were standart. Non standart was distance from my matress to 2nd floor bed. That was small space. 4.None of food was labeled with name. I don't think that it would change anything. 5.I wrote that there was a bit cold during breakfest. I doubt that I deserve to be compared to someone with aspergers symptom for my statement.

It is more better than most hostel, it has a nice kitchen and large sitting area, it is clean well located for me, if you are a solo traveler you can chose this place, they have also free small breakfast and coffee in the morning it is very nice.

As for me : this is a very good self check in backpacker! Cozy and quiet, but you can get great conversations during the free continental breakfast. Beds are okay, clean (bit old bedsheets though) clean and tidy place. Good for money. Supermarket nearby. River and historic center within 20 mins. In comparison to other places in EU this is among the good one. Absolutely recommended in Düsseldorf und Germany.

Yelp
A REALLY cute hostel no doubt about that! However when me and my group were there, there was a bad crowd of people that were there as well that the hostel staff had no control over. It made half of my group extremely uncomfortable that they had to move to a different hostel and it was a bummer to split us up. However the other half of the group was fine. Huge plus to this place was the communal kitchen that anyone could use! I love cooking my own meals while traveling cause I do get tired of eating out all the time. The staff was super sweet and extremely nice to us our entire stay. They did their best to accommodate for us in any way they could possible.

Yelp
A great place for travelers wanting to explore Düsseldorf and its interesting surroundings. A great place to stay. Decent accomodation with dorms of either 4, or 6 beds. The modern showers are situated on the same floors and you have free access to a large kitchen area and a spacious lounge as well as the internet via DSL (free!) Highly recommended!
