Stayed in a 4-bed dormitry for 7 nights in June. Enjoyed my stay there. :) Everything is cleaner than expected and cute decor as well. Didn't expect to have breakfast (e.g. bread, cereal, coffee, apples etc) at that price. Made some new friends in the breakfast hall too. U-Bahn station is just a block away and Bilk train station within a few minutes of walk. Convenient to navigate around Düsseldorf.

I wanted to check in early, so I sent an email a week ago, but I didn't get a reply. I arrived at 8 am, but I couldn't get in because they didn't tell me the password. I wandered around and the back door was open, so I was able to get in. The staff told me that I could check in at 2 pm, so I waited, and when I went to the reception at 2 pm, there was no staff. I found out that they sent the email an hour after I arrived. They said they talked to me in the middle, but they said something vague, and when I didn't understand and asked them to repeat it, they left right away. I told the staff about this, but they blamed me and I felt bad. When I told the staff, he said, Am I responsible for your feelings now? Welcome to Germany I've never seen such a rude staff member before, and it was the worst. + Of course I couldn't check in early. Since you didn't reply to my email, I'm sorry you don't know the difference between being direct and being rude. And you say I made a furious accusation? I guess you're more sensitive.

stayed two nights, had no issues. i really appreciate being placed in a female only room (not something i specifically asked for, and afaik wasn't an option on booking.com - i just chose a normal room). afaik the rooms themselves aren't gender separated, just how the staff or their program places who is in which room after booking. showers, toilets, kitchen, room (quiet as well) etc all clean. spacious storage (though i only had carry on sized luggage). very central and good location. one minor thing was that of the 3 bunk beds in the room, only two had direct outlets (all have small lamp and usb port though). despite one bunk bed with the outlets being completely free my entire stay, i and another person were placed in the one without. so to charge my phone etc i would have to sit by the other bed which was a bit inconvenient. perhaps this could have been changed by request but since i arrived in the afternoon after the reception is closed and was only staying two nights it wasn't a big enough deal to mention. don't expect a 5 star hotel - obviously to keep the prices so low things such as only reception open in the morning are a part of that. while some reviews experiences sounded situational (issues w emails, other guests etc), it is still a hostel and for the price it was very good in my eyes. vielleicht sind auch manche beschwerden aufgrund unterschiedlichen kulturellen hintergründe oder Sprachbarrieren zurückzuführen, ich fande denn Mitarbeiter höflich und hatte keine Probleme. Nur weil deutsche nicht so enthusiastisch sind wie zB amis im Servicebereich heißt es nicht immer dass Sie nicht nett sind. :-)

There are pros and cons to this place. I shall start with the pros ( because they outweigh the cons) Pros: - good and clean bedrooms. Provided with all the bed necessities. - constant wifi -Good spread for breakfast - Close to hbf and not far from various locations of the city. If not walkable, there's bus and tram stations close by that can take you where you want. - good restaurants close by - not very expensive ( compared to other places in Düsseldorf) Cons: - common bathrooms. While on its own it's not an issue, it tends to get dirty and it isn't very well lit up. But that may have been a one odd experience. - most rooms require you to climb a flight of stairs and this may prove to be an issue if you have certain health conditions preventing you from doing so or if you have heavy bags ( say if you're staying the night before a flight). Personally this wasn't an issue but it could be. - there is a baggage storage place but it is very small and at max can fit 6 bags which isn't enough considering the number of people who stay there. Stating all this, I do recommend this place. I personally have booked it three times.

Perfect for my needs. Price is fair, facilities (kitchen, shower, lockers) are good. You can enter 24/7. The neighbourhood is nothing to fear and it is right next to an U-bahn station (as well as close to trams). When i was here (november) it was quiet.

Avoid if you care about your sleep. We got a private room thinking we could get some quiet, but the room is right at street level with huge windows, so you get people smoking and drinking and being loud at 3AM just a few meters from your bed. There is a sign that asks to be quiet, but of course nobody follows it and with the reception being open from 8.00 to 12.00 only, there is no staff whatsoever to enforce the rules. Cleaners come in in the morning without knocking even if you're not in a dorm, and the only time we saw anyone of the staff was when they entered in our room to ask us to pay because the charge online didn't go through. The breakfast was very scarce, but at least it is included for free with every stay.

The rudest guy I have ever encountered and the worst hostel I have ever solo travelled in. Recommend you to - STAY AWAY AND NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE. On first impression, there’s no staff on the premises and there’s no culture of bonhomie among guests. But that is fine and does not by itself warrant a bad review. The guy who works here/owns this place is truly one of the most unhelpful/unempathetic people I have seen in a hostel. Here’s why. 1. He decided to take my linen away even before I checkout for the day, and decides to ‘check me out’ just because I have my stuff packed almost an entire hour before checkout. Again, I am willing to live with this, but here comes the clincher. 2. I tell him I am sick and might need to extend my stay for a bit. I ask him rather politely if I can just stay in the premises till 5 pm (checkout is at 11 am and he has no system in place for PAID late checkout but somehow is willing to have my stay extend by a day and pay the whole fare lol), and his instance response was accusatory. In his own words, ‘I know this game’. When you accuse your guests of overstaying almost without any evidence, that’s seriously disrespectful. He goes on to talk about how he has cameras everywhere, which really does not mean anything anyway! 3. He has not the first inkling of how to be hospitable and does not take even a second to answer questions for a visibly sick traveler, while dismissing them. It’s surprising how that’s almost a basic acceptable human quality, let alone hospitality training 101. 4. He gave me a long winded answer to how it’s difficult ‘organizationally’ to have late checkout but for some reason, does not really care about what the customer (I) think about/want from this hostel experience. 5. There are no luggage storage areas for anybody with slightly larger luggages. And the 8 spaces that are there get filled super quick (just 8 for like 50 odd visitors). How are hostels even built without thinking of this almost basic customer problem.

Yelp
A REALLY cute hostel no doubt about that! However when me and my group were there, there was a bad crowd of people that were there as well that the hostel staff had no control over. It made half of my group extremely uncomfortable that they had to move to a different hostel and it was a bummer to split us up. However the other half of the group was fine. Huge plus to this place was the communal kitchen that anyone could use! I love cooking my own meals while traveling cause I do get tired of eating out all the time. The staff was super sweet and extremely nice to us our entire stay. They did their best to accommodate for us in any way they could possible.

Yelp
A great place for travelers wanting to explore Düsseldorf and its interesting surroundings. A great place to stay. Decent accomodation with dorms of either 4, or 6 beds. The modern showers are situated on the same floors and you have free access to a large kitchen area and a spacious lounge as well as the internet via DSL (free!) Highly recommended!
