I’m giving this five size because it’s what you get for the price. I like the location still. I didn’t like that the kitchen closes too early in the night and then you left hungry. I don’t even see what’s the point that’s why they closed it. Some people do eat at night you know. Other than that, I would call a hostel not a hotel.

Great central location. The reception staff were kind enough, but beware reception hours are short if you are needing to speak with a staff member. Also take note the accomodation is on floors 1 - 3 with another business on the ground floor, and there is no lift. Luckily this is not an issue for me, but I did not see this advertised and it could be an issue if you have access needs or a lot of luggage. The bed in the room I stayed in was okay, but the window sill was filthy. There are three floors of rooms, the showers on floor 1 and 3 were a little unclean but okay, however they did not have hot water. The showers on floor 2 had hot water but were old and dirty. I know it wasn’t just the times I used the showers as I asked around and other people confirmed there was an ongoing issue with hot water! I don’t have an issue with the backpackers being old and basic as you get what you pay for, but I think all accomodation should be clean and have hot showers regardless of the price!

My room doesn't lock. The locking mechanism on the door is like a toilet cubicle lock, and it doesn't work. I just rang the call out line, the man who answered was rude, argued with me, I told him it's not acceptable to put a guest in a room that's unlockable, he said "you told me you've been here before". A whole wall is a glass partition facing into the reception hallway, covered by a heavy curtain held up by thin bamboo sticks. There is a fusebox on the wall. It feels like they have made an extra room out of spare office space and charge people for it. Then do nothing when you can't even lock the door. Will be reporting the hotel, I doubt this is up to code

Rooms and building were a bit sketch but fine. Bathrooms were clean. The service was very good and accommodating! We checked in a night and the process was really easy and simple. Just a heads up: some people live in the hostel full time so it's less of a backpackers hostel. We were happy to only be there for one night.

This was truly the worst accommodation experience of my life! The backpacker was filthy, the facilities were outdated, and the common areas looked like they were still under construction, yet the accommodation wasn’t even particularly cheap! The backpacker had around 20–30 rooms per floor, with each room accommodating up to 6 people, but there were only 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets on each floor. Isn’t that far too few?! On the day of my stay, when I returned to my room at night, I found someone else sleeping in the bed I had checked into! When I reported this to the staff, their solution was simply to give me a new set of sheets. They still charged me the full price! This wasn’t my mistake, so why should I have to bear the consequences? The backpacker manager’s attitude was also terrible. My three friends and I had booked the room together, and while I was actively trying to assert my rights, the manager hysterically told me to get out of the backpacker. He said he would refund my booking fee the next day but refused to refund the fees for my other three friends. It was all part of the same booking, so I can’t understand this absurd way of handling the situation! Let me state this clearly once again: this was the WORST accommodation experience of my life!

It's okay for the price. However, if you are a light-sleeper or value your sleep, I wouldn't recommend this place. At about 9pm-10pm, a rattling started in the room above me. It continued through the night, and to add to that, a group of people started playing music and talking loudly (10 pm). The room was clean and tidy, with no complaints on the condition of the room, for the price. I would say that if you're looking for a place to stay for one night, this is sufficient. It's close to a SkyBus stop. Therefore, you can easily reach the airport.

Good hotel. First, the good points of this hotel: the location is excellent, the beds are comfortable (in private rooms) and the kitchen is spacious (though it becomes a nightmare around January). The building has historical charm (you might need a bodybuilder to open the windows) Additionally, there is the occasional surprise of a fire alarm going off once or twice a month at night, offering the thrilling experience of watching the fire department in action. As for the drawbacks, if you're in a third-floor room, you might wake up to pigeons watching you sleep. If you want to have an interesting experience in Hobart, I recommend this hotel.
