Backpackers in Yeosu felt more like a hotel for the price of a hotel. We booked a private room for 2 people with a private bathroom. It was clean, spacious, and had a lovely view.
The people running the hostel are incredibly friendly and helpful, and although I speak Korean like a 5 year old we were able to have some lovely interactions with the older lady who seems to run it.
The cafe / pub across the street feels like a natural extension and living room with a great atmosphere and great barman. While I thought the food and drinks were slightly on the expensive side from my experience in other parts of Korea, they seem pretty similar to prices around Yeosu.
