Great place for a very reasonable price in Luzern. It’s a 10 min walk to the nearest bus stop but then you have 4 frequent buses going to the main centre and main station. The bus ride is about 8-10 mins approx. The hostel itself is really nice, has two kitchens and alot of space for board games, carrom and other relaxing couches.

Great location by the lakeside, rooms and toilets are clean, fully equiped kitchens and wonderful hosts. We spent wonderful moments cooking and socialing during our stay.

Clean room and nice kitchen area. About 10 mins walk to bus station or 20 mins to the Bahnhof. Shared washroom and shower are pretty clean. Might be short of hot water at the peak hours. The drainage of the shower is not very good. Quite environment.

Self service kitchen Room is awesome (We stayed in bunk bed type mixed doremetary) Toilet & bathroom are clean and nice Location: walking distance from lucerne train station (20 min.) or take bus 6,7,8 towards weyee and 300 m from there. Completely safe & budget friendly for middle class people. I have stayed for 2 nights with my wife.

A really wonderful stay and experience. We had a private room which has shared showers/bathrooms and common areas. Room was great. Using bathrooms/shower was never an issue. Everything is clean and organized. Check in was easy and they have lockers to leave stuff if you arrive before check in. 15 minutes or so from the station and city center but they provide you with a city pass for your stay which includes bus use. There’s lake access right in front of the hostel. All great things here.

Considering the chages of the dorms, I had some expectations about the property since I lived in good hostels before at lower prices. I won't recommend this hostel for stay. Pros: 1. Washrooms are clean. 2. USB Micro Fans (10 cm dia) provided for each beds. Cons: 1. Location is far away. If you have luggage with you then it will be difficult to arrive here even by bus. There are no sign boards put at the roads so it will be confusing to locate the hostel. 2. They will give you bedsheets and pillow cover. You have to make bed by yourselves. I mean then what's the need of hostel? 3. Kitchen is very small. No restaurants or market nearby. This is in residential area. 4. Rooms are very small. The bunk bed is 6.4ft only so if you are tall, it will definitely trouble you once you place pillow. 7. Rooms have no ventilation so it becomes heating oven at night. You won't be able to sleep due to poor design of rooms and beds. 8. Their 2pm to 5pm off reception is unique policy and checking allowed only after 5pm. At other times also, it's difficult to find anyone at reception. 9. Seems like they are just running the show without much improvements. It has age-old furnitures. I would recommend you to stay at Interlaken which is much better place than Lucerne. In Interlaken, you try to get accommodation at Backpackers Villa Sohenhof. This was the best hostel till date for me.

The location of this hostel is very nice however I would never recommend this place to anyone. The water in the shower clogs, soap and towels are not included, you have to put your own sheets on, there is only one light in the room we booked (2 bunk beds), the table was dirty, there is barely no light, it looks eerie during the day and at night sometimes too. While I was trying to go to sleep I saw a bug on the wall. It seemed like a spider. The reception was closed from 2-5 pm which is quite annoying because we couldn’t check in until 5 so we had to wait while we felt disgusted and icky from traveling so much. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing is that it’s close to Lake Lucerne.

We traveled to Lucerne for the weekend as study abroad students that had never stayed in a hostel before. It’s safe to say that Backpackers Lucerne left a fabulous first impression on the Hostel world, and my standards are now very high. The owners were extremely welcoming, showing us nothing but kindness throughout the entire booking process and while there. They responded to emails promptly and with helpful information.||The travel from the train station was seamless. The location is great because of the very short bus stop near the hostel, and if you’ve never traveled in Lucerne before, the public transit is very easy to get the hang of. We asked Marina numerous questions each morning about what to do in Lucerne and we received lots of advice, as well as the countless recommendations from previous guests at Backpackers. ||The rooms were very clean, and the sheets they gave us made it easy to make the beds and to pack it up during check out. The lockers in the room were very nice and we stored out backpacks in them. There were no locks for the lockers in the room; however, we stayed in a 4-person private room, so there might be locks for the public ones. I suggest bringing a small lock if that’s something that concerns you. The back patio door was difficult to open for our room, so be aware if you stay here and pay special attention to the directions of how to close it.||The first floor common area at Backpackers was a delight, and we had such a fun time intermingling with the other guests and the hosts, all of whom were very friendly. The vibe was so unique, great for young people traveling, but also for larger groups or families. The lobby had a bar with snacks and we bought a bottle of wine one night— it’s comforting when traveling to know you have an awesome place to go back to for the night. Marina was more than accommodating for our needs, adjusting to bad weather and delayed check-ins, and gave us the benefit of the doubt when we made an error with our check-out time. ||I would highly recommend this place to first time and experienced hostel bookers. This truly made our experience in Lucerne worthwhile and it has been my favorite city I’ve ever traveled to. If I ever make my way back to the city, I’ll be booking here again!
