Is it a distillery or is it a bar? We're all in luck because it's BOTH!! The distilled spirits are all very tasty, with some being extremely unique and shall I say bizarre!! The drinks they concoct with those spirits are phenomenal and not like anything you'll get anywhere else! First, we tasted and sampled to find our favorites! We definitely weren't prepared to love them all!! Next came choosing the cocktails, that was the hardest part! Of the few we were able to drink, we were blown away by the craftsmanship. The flavors were all mixed perfectly with every single ingredient shining through, including the spirits. Service was super friendly and all of them definitely knew their stuff! From the decor, atmosphere, service and spirits, Backwards Distilling is anything but backwards! It is hands down in front of and leading the pack!

So good. My favorite place to visit when in Casper. Such incredible cocktails and a great vibe. The attention to detail and precision that goes into each cocktail is extraordinary. The presentation is outstanding. A one of a kind experience.

This place is crazy interesting! I love the vibe and atmosphere! The staff is super friendly and the facility is very clean. So far, everything I tried is fantastic! I like burbon and the frankenburbon is great! Hope I can find some in ND. Make it a point to stop here! Tip for people buying bottles....chill the absinthe before consuming! Had some at my hotel and at 130 proof, room temp about killed me 🤣 my wife even got a pic of me starting my coughing fit. Yeah not going to post that one 🤭

This is one of Casper's hidden gems. It's tucked away a little outside of town but well worth the trip! Great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and has amazing drinks! It's a great place to bring visiting friends and family from out of town and show them what Casper has to offer. 2024 update - We had Elek as our server at the downtown tasting room and were blown away by his service. He was so incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and great at answering questions and going into depth about the various drinks. Honestly hands down some of the best service I’ve seen anywhere for any business in a long, long time. I just wanted to update to include this as he is an amazing asset to the already stellar Backwards crew. We appreciate you, Elek!

Best craft cocktails in the state and you will not find better service or a cooler story behind a business. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic option too!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and loved the drinks! Franken bourbon is well marketed but rough on the palate;( I really enjoyed the gin. We bought a large bag full home.

I liked Backwards Distilling a lot and I made a stop by here on my last trip through Casper. This distillery adds some elegance and fanciness to downtown which I really liked a lot! The themes and atmosphere here kind of remind me of a subtle blending of a circus mixed with Steampunk which I can really appreciate as it adds to the uniqueness to the place! I got one cocktail here. It was called the Feats of Strength which had Strongman Gin, pineapple juice, Lime Juice and Simple Syrup. It was very refreshing and highly enjoyable! Service was very good and the cocktail menu has a nice variety of drinks! You can purchase their liquor in bottles and they have other merchandise available as well. Looking forward to returning!

Before I get started bragging about the decor, the freshness of the ingredients, & the amazing drinks I want to tell you what I learned about this family owned and operated business. This is one of the most amazing concepts. We learned that drinks are seasonal and that the staff get to put in ideas for new drinks and they vote on the best! I love this, all of it! We walked in and were greeted and we decided to sit at the bar to watch the bartender make the drinks. The place itself has a variety of creative seating for any and every comfort level. There is a lot of eye candy decor to keep your interest. They boost a cute carnival theme with a page for their signature local favs, classics, boozier drinks, and even a non alcoholic page. All the names are fabulous and fun along with their house produced gins, vodkas, rum, absinthe, and moonshine. Our bartender was fabulous and super personable. We really enjoyed talking to him and learning more about the place. We leaned they have theme nights and there was a group playing a game of sorts upstairs. Just an overall great vibe and fun place with top notch drinks and super fresh, clean ingredients. Color me amazed, impressed, and just down right jealous that this place isn't in my neighborhood of Vegas. Even if you don't drink, the nonalcoholic drinks are phenomenal. We started with a fun spirited drink and finished with a non alcoholic drink. I highly recommend coming here. You will be hooked with so much WOW factor!

Very unique spot! The ambiance reminds me of the circus with lots of quirky decorations. The drinks are fun, interesting, and delicious. They take time to make sure each cocktail has a nice presentation! Prices are a little high but it's worth it for the time and effort they put into making a good drink.

My wife and I were in Casper and visited Backwards two times with a local friend. The first visit was completely great. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the cocktails and the various whiskeys. We enjoyed our first experience so much that we went back for a second visit. The second visit our server was very rude to a non-drinking member of our group (she pointed out that he put drinks down without pointing out which one the nonalcoholic drink, his reply was "whatever") He also roughly sat our drinks on the table. It was bad enough that we even asked him if we had offended him somehow and maybe we were oblivious (he said no). Total opposite of our first server experience on our first visit. Overall, Backwards is totally worth going to. I really think this was a one-off thing and maybe the guy was just having a bad day. Besides that everything else was amazing. Absolutely worth a trip.

This is a awesome place to go to. They have the most fabulous different types of drinks that they come up with. That is amazing. The flavors. of the different alcohol they make is top-notch. It's a must to come to this place. Don't pass it up. The staff is awesome. their knowledge and distilling alcohol is at the top. You can buy bottles of whiskey, vodka, Gin and mixed drinks in a can that is fabulous.

This is Casper's best place for cocktails. It is so unique and has a huge variety of drinks to try with their own alcohols! It would be a great place to take a group of friends or go on a quick date for a drink. Although they don't stay open late, they are definitely great! 100 Horses - strong vinegar taste but still smooth. It's definitely a sipping drink. One of my favorites if you are into something different! Mr. Grimaldi - pumpkin drink is sweet and balanced. Yum! Dragon Chariot - rum, muddled lines, bitters. If you like bitters you will like this drink Golden Gong - actually tastes like tiramisu! This is the one place in town I will miss when we leave. So many unique cocktails, great ambiance, friendly amazing staff, and they are a distillery so it adds the extra coolness in that they make everything themselves. Love this place!

Backwards is the cocktail bar in Casper and also the only Speakeasy-ish place that Casper has to offer. I visited this place after being in the Casper for more than a year and was impressed by the mixology that this place has to offer. Every drink has a lot of thought out into it. The couple of cocktails that we tried were definitely full of flavor and just rightly done. The staff is amazing and very attentive. I would definitely recommend to check this place out if in Casper !

Very quaint, personal!! Great Brewery of Vodka, Gin and Rum! Their new location downtown is beautiful!! And their mixes of unique drinks makes this a fun place! Highly recommend.

Uh, amazing. Best whiskey I've had outside of Jameson in IRE! Gin also very drinkable, smooth and I DON'T like gin. Never drink it! Great vibe inside. Excellent customer service. Come check it out, and you'll love it too!

So just had a chance to check out the new location and it's fabulous! The place was slammed and staff was still killin it with great original drinks and service. These are some of the best mixed drinks we've ever had and the prices were totally fair compared to a big city. So impressive for a small town like Casper, we loved it and will be back.

I highly recommend Backwards Distillery. It's a very friendly, warm place with unique, fun cocktails. We came for the cinnamon moonshine spiked hot cocoa, Mr. North. The cocoa was a hit for all six of us. The Hot Toddy had plenty of fans within the group. I really enjoyed the Wizard Prince of Arabia (rum, brown sugar syrup, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon juice, lime juice, coconut milk, allspice dram). We also had an interesting tour and tasting.

Such a nice option in Casper.... Old school speakeasy meets progressive chic, with a splash of carnival atmosphere. Unique, creative cocktails and a friendly staff. They'll let you try their ginger beer and it's really tasty. There's some intriguing alcohol-free options too. It's a find!

Amazing find! If you are visiting Casper area this is a must stop. The cocktails are incredible and so is the service. Enjoyed a couple drinks after running the Casper Half marathon. I will be ordering online the liquor since I'm flying back to California.

The staff is wonderful. We visited from Las Vegas Nevada and we really enjoyed the quietness and the coziness of this bar. They had amazing cocktails and we purchased several of their rums, gin and moonshine.

Oh my gosh!!! Such an incredible experience!! My mom and I did the "Backstage Tour" of the Distillery and a tasting. The tour was absolutely AMAZING, showing us how everything is made and the amazing love and passion and WORK that go into every sip! The distillery equipment and bar are absolutely beautiful. It was just such an incredible, unique experience to see an expert explain their craft and their passion. Then we went to the adorable downtown location for the tasting and it was perfect. The style and theme are so, so, so well done, with a gorgeous blend of fun, elegance, and vintage mystery I just loved it. Our waitress was phenomenal, explaining tasting notes to us as we sampled through the spirits we had just learned about on the tour. Every spirit was amazing... unique and flavorful and smooth and just a really beautiful flavor experience. The menu was so full of amazing, interesting drinks I don't know how I could pick just one. Great bartenders who are given the license to explore their creativity in the drinks is such a fun experience, and every single person we interacted with was a pleasure. It's people and places like this, unique venues run by individuals who are clearly living their passion, that make Casper such a fun place to live. Great job, Backwards Distillery. I can't wait to come back!!

Came here on a cross country with some friends and loved what we got! This place not only has a cool look and feel but the owner is also cool and very knowledgeable about what drink you'd likely prefer. This is a must if you're ever in Casper Wyoming.

Let's get one thing perfectly clear: I have lived in Vegas where trick cocktails are cliche, I've lived in Brooklyn where speakeasies with passwords are still a thing, and I've travelled the world and have sampled many many cocktails that claimed to cater to an individual palette. None have come close in comparison to this PEARL that sits just outside of the rapidly growing culinary and Cocktail Oyster that is Casper, Wyoming. Amber, Mallory and family have set up a masterwork of a building as well. From the moment you walk into the charming entry way and enter the French-Parlor style tasting room, you feel warm, intrigued, and welcomed into the amber-lit space that boasts chic decor and well placed lighting and wall accents. The bar is open and inviting and you can clearly see all of the amazing tinctures and bitters created by the artists behind the bar. On this particular visit, we sat at the bar and immediately began conversation with a gentleman already seated at the bar; a regular named Ryan. He was very sweet and knew SO much about the menu! Instant bar friend, check! After a few moments of chatter, we were greeted by warm hugs from Amber and then from Mallory and the drink- building magic commenced. I prefer to tell someone who boasts their knowledge of libations to craft me a personalized beverage after I give them a small list of flavors I like in my drinks... Amber accommodated and happily listened, and immediately began on a cocktail called The Two Horned Rhino- a smoked rum beverage that absolutely blew my mind and expectations right out of the water! The profiles were spot on, and exceeded my expectations. The beverage had a perfect strength and it also managed to grab both the sweet/sour AND the Smoky notes all in one drink without tasting like an ash tray... It was so good that I ordered 2 and was quite tipsy afterward so do be careful... I knew I had ordered the right cocktail when I began pairing specific meals in my recipe memory book with it. Truly wonderful, as were ALL of their winter beverages that we tried. My partner tried the Vesper which was, in a word, incendiary. The gin that this place distilled is complex, aromatic, layered and fragrantly intoxicating. I could smell it bruising in the shaker as she made it. Subtle. Mellow. Tart. Only hints of juniper which kissed the notes at the end. Bravo. After an hour of conversation, and tasting of several other amazing drinks, including an Anise Star topped martini that is not in the menu, I had easily deduced that Amber is truly a master Mixologist. This wasn't difficult to gather, what with the 20 medals modestly hanging off the bottles on the shelvesas solid proof behind our gracious host to help boast my assumptions. Long story short: GO HERE! If you are a local: cherish this spot. If you are traveling through: Stop here and say hi! Also: THEY GIVE TOURS OF THE DISTILLERY AND ITS AMAZING! It's also uber LGBT friendly and should be praised for its all-inclusive vibe and welcoming atmosphere. We will be back... many times. 5 Stars! Bravo!

What a really fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It's really cool to see a small business take off with a great vision and really cool theme to boot!! Chad has a real knack and passion for this business and knows a lot about distilling spirits and produces some very unique spirits. The tasting was equally as fun. They moved the tasting room to a really cool location downtown Casper. It's nicely decorated and fits with the circus theme. Amber was fun and could explain each spirit and what to expect as we tasted each one. Overall a really great experience and I highly recommend it! Thanks again!

You walk through the door, and you're greeted by prohibitionesque decor and smiling faces. The owners of the distillery are behind the bar, mixing up curious elixirs. You sit in the room of mirrors, amidst the coolest chandeliers you have ever seen, sipping a cold concoction that reminds you of walking among flowers in springtime. In all seriousness, this place is a shining gem in an otherwise bleak town. Try the Charly Mule, with flavor a of blueberry and thyme and their own ginger beer, it's my favorite.

Must try the Merle (mint) drink. One of the best cocktails EVER. Nice place. No food yet but soon. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is cool.

Wasn't sure what to expect and from the outside, looked more like a distribution center than a tasting room. Once inside, you are transported and it is the coolest bar I've seen. The drinks are just as good- creative and tasty. The staff was very helpful and even had suggestions on local attractions. I loved everything about this place.

I am not kidding when I say i just had the best alcoholic beverage of my LIFE at Backwards. Amazing staff, incredible drinks, my favorite place to grab a drink!

With a group of people from Phoenix, Dallas, Casper and even Riverton Wy. Can safely say there is nothing that we have experienced in the BIG cities comparable to Backwards Distillery. The service fantastic! The atmosphere is warm, comfortable inviting and NO TV's. You can actually hold a conversation! The preparation of drinks/quality to detail phenomenal! Drinks... Taste- quality- composition out of this world fantastic!! We (party of 5), passed around each and every cocktail and each one fantastic. Almost had each one One the list! Hoping Backwards distillery flourishes and continued success!!

Best bar/distillery in Wyoming! Amazing cocktails with FRESH local ingredients. Everything is house made and delicious! Not to mention friendly and up-beat staff I will definitely recommend to friends and come back for a visit whenever in the area.

This place is simply incredible. The atmosphere is on point, and the drinks are some of the best Casper has to offer. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and extremely kind. They do tours of the back rooms and are very open to answer any questions. If you want something a bit different and off the wall that makes your taste buds do kart-wheels and jumping jacks, this place is somewhere you HAVE to stop!

Do not miss this place when you are in Casper! Such a little gem! It's a family-owned and operated business off the beaten track adjacent to Casper in Mills. It has an old-time circus motif, super friendly staff, and awesome, unique drinks. They have a vodka and a gin and are working on some other spirits for future distribution. No food, but an extensive menu of drinks and bowls of nut mix. They provide tours of their gorgeous distillery - really impressive. You will definitely have fun if you pop in here!

This is our new favorite hang out spot!! We are so excited to finally have a craft cocktail place in Casper. So far the vodka and gin drinks have not disappointed. Love, Love, Love Backwards!! Great drinks which are made of fresh ingredients and are nothing like the other bars in Casper. They make drinks for people who enjoy the taste and want something to savor-- not just guzzle to be drunk. Their drinks highlight their vodka, gin, and rum. They change their menu seasonally so you can have some different items each time you go. Love yoga days! Nice, quiet place to talk with friends and have a before dinner drink. Keep an open mind and palette--- you won't be disappointed!

We took the tour and it was excellent! We enjoyed hearing about their start and the process of creating these wonderful spirits. After the tour we tried some of their signature drinks in the lounge area. We purchased nine bottles of rum, vodka, and gin and have really enjoyed them. This is a must see stop when you visit Casper.

Amazing! Great drinks, great service, stellar atmosphere. I tried the Blow Down (a twist on the classic gin fizz) and the Golden Gong, which is essentially tiramisu in a glass. Plus, they make their own gin, rum, vodka, and moonshine. This is a have-to-do!!

Great drinks, nice folks, and a broad, eclectic live music scene. Only complaint is that there is not more live music offered.

This is one of mine and my wife's favorite quiet spots to enjoy a cocktail with friends. They have a great atmosphere and very creative mixology!

This is a nice relaxing place to hang out. The cocktails are unique and there are a few non-alcoholic drinks that are yummy. We had an event and the owners and staff were sensational. No food is sold at the venue but we brought in cake to celebrate and they provided an area that we could get together and visit. I would go back for the tour and try some new concoctions that they have dreamed up. Very nice place.

Great little place to hangout in and try some really unique drinks. The interior felt like one should be wearing either flapper clothes or a Victorian dress depending on the room you sat in. We got to try all the spirits before ordering, which was fantastic and helped us choose something we might have otherwise missed out on. Our server was really well informed about the drinks, history of the place, distilling process, and was cheerful and enthusiastic about everything. Loved the ambiance, background music of modern hits redone jazzy style, and view of the distilling room. Basically this place was great, and if you like vodka, gin, or moonshine you should check it out.
