We visited Bacon Street Diner at Countryside Mall with a party of six on a busy Saturday afternoon and were seated in about 15 minutes, which was impressive considering how busy it was. The service was friendly and the timing between plates was consistent, even with a full dining room.
What we ordered:
The special of the day was an open-faced turkey sandwich served with mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, carrots and green beans. It was a true comfort food plate. The turkey was tender, the gravy rich and everything tasted homemade. It felt like Thanksgiving dinner in the best way.
The 3-egg omelette with spinach, sausage and feta was fresh and flavorful and cooked well. The only thing to note is that add-ons are $1.50 each, so the price can add up quickly depending on what you choose.
The fish and chips with dill sauce were crispy and well seasoned. The portion was generous and the dill sauce paired perfectly.
The corned beef and hash skillet was hearty, savory and full of flavor. A great choice if you love diner style breakfast dishes.
We also ordered a classic cheeseburger and fries, which was simple, satisfying and cooked the way we asked. The kids chicken strips and fries were crispy and fresh, and a definite hit.
Before leaving, we walked by the dessert case and it absolutely stopped us in our tracks. Pies, cream puffs and house-made desserts that looked incredible. We were way too full to try one this time, but they will definitely be the reason we return.
Overall, great food, generous portions, friendly service and a dessert case that demands a second visit. We'll definitely be back, especially to finally try a slice of pie or a cream puff.
