Bad Hombres Good Mexican Food

We ordered the surf and turf burrito 2 red tacos and 1 Elote . This was our first time here so we wanted to try a couple of things. Let me just say we were NOT disappointed. The food is amazing the meat for the burrito was nice and juicy the shrimp was cooked great. The surf and turf burrito is a must try if you like shrimp burritos. We just asked for no cilantro. The red tacos were also great. The Elote corn on the cob. Was really good also. I also had a horchata. I really recommend this place. It's great food. If I could I'd give it 10 stars. The staff was all really friendly and the atmosphere was great.

takeout order! we had the quesabirria with the consomé and pumpkin horchata n they were all very delicious :) honestly, the best quesabirria so far around here. it was an easy process to just call n pick up aswell.

I had their burritos 3 days in row and each one was delicious. Bad hombres burritos is a great classic go-to. Amazing portion of steak with beans and a hint of cilantro and onions. Bacon and egg breakfast burrito pair really well with the sauces. California burrito was also delicious, but felt the meat to fry ration was bit off- it could have used more crispy fries. Chicken tacos come with SO much meat!! Adobada has so much flavor! Super Cali was also bursting with flavor and was a solid choice. If you enjoy sweet cold brews, you’re going to love The Sweetie! Can’t wait to go back and try more items.

Their “big breakfast burrito” is a work of art. Got one today after work for the first time and I am going to have a hard time finding a breakfast burrito that beats it. Also got a cold brew horchata that was yummy too! Not too sweet, just right (:

No request is too big here! We have used their catering for 40 people and the food was delicious, plentiful, and hot! It came expertly packaged and they were accommodating to our needs. All of our guests left full and asking where the food came from. I was proud to tell them Bad Hombres! Likewise, tonight I came in to get burritos to take cross country on my flight to my pregnant sister. The manager made them himself, making sure to carefully package them for my journey tomorrow. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! The food is great and the employees genuinely care about their customers.

Bad Hombres makes some Damn Tasty and Creative good food. I don’t think there’s anywhere else in East County where you can get a burrito THIS big blanketed in a quesadilla. Is it good FOR you? Can’t say. But is it bad food? not in the SLIGHTEST.

Good quality quick Mexican food always reliable. My wife loves the rolled tacos they use shredded beef I usually get carne asada fries or a super California burrito. They have a drive thru witch is awsome. The employees always give good service. And it always seems really clean This is my go to Mexican food spot in santee.

just posting here again to share my love for bad hombres. I always order thru the "toast" app. i counted roughly how many times my husband and i have been here..and its A LOT. At least 30 times in the last 3 years. Over the years we have tried their California burrito, super cali burrito, red taco, fish taco (battered fish), rolled tacos (beef), bacon + egg breakfast burrito, and chorizo breakfast burrito. If you come here, definitely try the California burrito and rolled crispy tacos - their green sauce is the best!! Bad hombres always has friendly and fast customer service. Their quality and flavor had always been consistently delicious.

Great taste and options - best in Santee! Our favorites: red taco, bad hombres taco, quesadilla, fish taco, chips.

ordered a quesadilla- came out soaked in grease and burnt- guacamole is not real its more like a paste. Service was very nice

Good Mexican food, pretty consistent. Service is average and ambiance is decent as well. Can sometimes get a bit messy during/after a rush, but overall a clean environment.

Finally, a taco shop that gives a good size burrito in the area . The burritos are large enough to split and they are fresh. The customer service is above average. I just wish they had better salsa.

Love the food here!! Staff is super friendly, clean inside, and the food is quality!! My go to is the carnitas burrito. It's not full of fat, or weird meat pieces ‍ but good crisp, so flavorful chunks of carnitas. It's a must try!! *my only downfall, I'm not a fan of their red salsa.. so I stick with the green.

I've always seen this place while in Santee. Today was the day we couldn't decide what to eat and remembered to try this place. We saw the drive thru line was long as we parked to go inside. The place inside had quite a few people sitting down eating and a couple at the register ordering. Then it was our turn to order. The staff just seemed overwhelmed, even with there being about 10 or so employees that we could see. The person that took our order seemed exhausted and over the day. So we made the order "surf and turf fries" and a "bad hombres taco", a "carnitas taco", a "chipotle shrimp taco", and a "queso birra taco" with a fountain drink. We paid and went to go find a seat. The inside looks recently remodeled or so, but everything looks like it needed a wipe down. From the tables to the soda machine, doors and counter. They soon called our order not to long after. The food looked delicious and well presented. All tacos were amazing. My top favorites were the chipotle shrimp and the carnitas. The surf and turf fries were good too, crispy fries, but it just seemed like it was missing something maybe some more chipotle sauce or something. Couldn't really put my finger on it. I wouldn't say they were the best I had but really good. As we left there was a line still at the register with more people walking in and a long line still at the drive thru. Overall we liked the food quite a bit, but next time will be opting to do drive thru.

The drive thru usually takes a while. Not someplace to go if you are on a time limit, but it'd totally worth the wait. Very good!

Came here for dinner with my partner and was a fan of the Mario mural outside. The inside had a nice vibe, too. We ordered the carne asada fries and three rolled tacos. I always judge a Mexican spot by their rolled tacos since it's such a simple dish, and Bad Hombre's passed the test. The fries were decent, though we relied heavily on the salsa for flavor. I preferred the red over the green, but both were solid. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Had seen a few people talking about this place so my partner and I decided to try it out Saturday night for dinner The drive thru was busy as we pulled in which was a good sign, the inside was super clean and notably recently remodeled with plenty of table and a clean open space We shared some carne asada fries and an order of rolled tacos. The rolled tacos were very good and I would get them again. The carne asada fries were a good size but the flavor of the meat was not my favorite, all the other toppings were good and I really enjoyed their red salsa! Might stop by again if in the area but there are better taco shops in other neighborhoods I'd prefer

Reallllly solid place for rolled tacos + carne asada fries. The ladies working in the front were kind and approachable. The food tasted really clean - like the oil was new and not old. Idk if y'all know what I mean but it really felt like this place cared about wtf they're serving. We dined indoors and space was plentiful. Lots of people coming in and out picking up their orders, eating and then leaving. Had a sip of my friend's Jamaica and it was really good. I got the horchata and it was creamy and delicious. I'll be back Bad Hombres.

Very nice young people working here, the food is delicious! They kept the place really clean and neat. 9/10 only wish the guacamole taste a little fresher.

:( come on you guys. You got my order wrong again :( I got shrimp taco without bacon and it had a lot of bacon. The food is amazing but keep messing up on the orders :( they already replaced my meals like 5 times lol I'm embarrassed to call again. Bummer :(

Wow! The Birria red tacos are amazing! I stumbled upon this taco spot while scrolling through photos online and thought, "This looks pretty fire!" I decided to give it a try, went through the drive-thru, and ordered 3 Birria red tacos, 2 Bad Hombres tacos, an elote, a Surf and Turf burrito, and a medium horchata. Everything was great! The crispy Birria tacos with melty cheese were perfect...messy, juicy, and packed with flavor! The horchata was a good too, it tasted homemade, not like the ones from those soda machines. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this drive-thru taco shop. This place is definitely worth checking out! Not bad at all!

Bad hombres is our go to four truly good Mexican food. They have lots of options and everything is good. I often get the surf and turf taco and make it a combo. With that you get a drink and two sides. The cheesy rice is delicious and different. The surf and turf taco always has plenty of shrimp and beef. When we went the other day, we both got burritos. Because we are trying to limit carbs. We didn't get the carbs in the burritos so one of us got the steak and egg burrito with no potato and the other got burrito with no rice. Their burritos are very generous in size. We opened ours up and ate mainly the inside and a little bit of their delicious tortilla, but not the whole tortilla. The servers are always very friendly. The place is clean. We can always find a place to sit. It's a great spot.

Tried this place out last night and was pleasantly surprised. Located in Santee you'll find Bad Hombres. Upon walking in I took note that the place was very well kept and clean. Tables cleaned and I was greeted by staff right as I walked through the door. The staff were very helpful and were ready to make recommendations to anyone whose first time it was there. Prices for the food were on point. Not overly priced as you get with some mexican food shops. I orders the carne asada fries and a breakfast burrito. Portion size on the fries was on the medium size which was not what I expected based off the advertisements of their food on yelp. So that was a downer, but the food tasted great. I requested my breakfast burrito to go, but it never came out as I was eating the carne asada fries. I walked up to the register and informed them that my burrito never came out and they asked my a solid three to four times "are you sure you didn't get it?" "Are you 100% positive". I thought that odd, but I'm assuming they have people try to scam them often if those are the questions they hit me with. After ensuring them I had yet to receive the burrito, they were happy to oblige and had one made which i received not long after. I would come back and try one of their other burritos as those looked great. Breakfast burrito get two thumbs up. I would pass on the fries however. Come check out Ban Hombres mexican food if you're in the area.

Visited 12/6/2024 I was told this place had some tasty tacos so I had to check it off my Got To Try list. I ordered one each, A Birria Red Taco, A Fish Taco, a Surf & Turf Taco and a Bad Hombres Taco. The menu is simple but has a good selection to choose from. All four of the tacos I ordered were very tasty and the House Made Corn Tortillas were to die for. Made By Hand Fresh Every Day. Very special seeing they are in the same parking lot as another well known Excellent Taco establishment. This place does a lot of takeout and one of the few in SD that has a Drive through. Definitely one of two best Taco Places In Santee. Highly Worth Visit.

Great burritos and great service for pretty good prices. I always get the cali surfing burrito because shrimp and fries and beef are always amazing. I also LOVE the horchata. My coworkers swears by the horchata cold brew, but I prefer just the horchata. Getting a massive burrito via drive-though is also always fun. The place itself feels like a typical pick-up and go kind of vibe. There are tables, but I never really eat-in (especially when there's a park nearby). Their kids menu is also perfect for a girl who doesn't always know what she wants to eat (me). The names always make me giggle.

The food here was really good and everything came out fast. The inside was also very clean. The birria ramen was hands down the best thing we had - so flavorful and worth getting again. I'm not from Santee, but whenever we're in the area this is definitely getting added to our list of stops!

Have been coming here for years. Recommended this place to everyone. Extremely disappointed in carne asada fries. I understand food cost is up but maybe try to hid the fact you skimping out on food with a smaller container. Should I be able to see the bottom of the container after paying $13.14? Tip for staff when I call to ask don't tell me nothing has changed and maybe it was the kitchen and I am sorry. Sorry lost my business. Won't be going back.

This has been my go-to place since its opening, but lately, the person making the food seems to be rushing and not reading the order carefully. I understand the need to quickly prepare orders to keep the line moving, but it's crucial to ensure accuracy. Please take the time to read the entire order on the ticket. This is the second time this has happened to me. When I returned, they remade my order, which I appreciate.

This place is good! Children approved on bean and cheese burritos! I have tried the chicken nachos and the breakfast burrito ( potato, egg, bacon, cheese) & they are consistently good and healthy sizes that you have 2 meals in one. You usually see a line on any given night but they are worth the wait because you get good Mexican. I pass out gift cards to spread the love . I like how they have super Mario spray painted opposite of the drive- thru.Staff usually very nice. Go check it out!

I think I've found my new favorite Mexican spot in San Diego! This place is truly amazing, and I can't recommend it enough. The Surf and Turf Fries are a must-try. The shrimp was cooked to perfection while the meat had some really good char/flavor. They drizzle on a generous amount of sauces and cheese, which adds to the indulgence, but I'd suggest adding some extra hot sauce if you like spice. Another huge bonus is the drive-thru, which is a lifesaver on those hot summer days when you want something delicious without the hassle. Service was top-notch--definitely a 10/10. You can tell they really care about their business and the experience they provide. Would I go again? Absolutely!

Hard to rate, if you order inside they rarely mess up. If you go through the drive thru they don't hear your order right or it gets messed up with another. I've noticed some days are better than others, not sure if the cooks are different on certain days. Most of the time they have the best Mexican food but sometimes it can be a miss (not often though). Love that they have orange salsa too. Worth a visit. Be aware of high school events as it gets overly packed after their games/events.

Great taco shop in Santee. Their Cali burritos remind me of the old school burritios. They come with quality asada, fries, cheese, and sour cream. I do think though I'll add pico to my burrito next for some acidity. Considering all in all fair pricing and good quick service

I'm so glad that i got to try @badhombresgoodmexicanfood , it will change your perspective positively about the authentic mexican food. The portion is huge which is perfect for foodie people I loved the surf and turf fries so much, i wished i don't get full so i can have it all You can tell the burrito and red taco is different story I recommend you to try their drinks bc the three choices that we got are so delicious and refreshing, perfect for this weather

We had the horchata, birria ramen and barb fries. This place was extremely good. We went through the drive thru and it was fast. We will go here again for sure. We ate here two days in a row!!

I ordered catering for 10 people, carne asada is good rice and beans are also great. Very good service.

This place is always good. Great carnitas and the chipotle sauces is the best! Their breakfast burritos are bomb as well.

This spot is my new go to. Food never disappoints and is always fresh. Everything we've ordered has been amazing. They even have a drive thru. Staff have always been kind and courteous.

12/2/2024 - I went through the drive thru and ordered a breakfast burrito, carne asada burrito, and a carnitas burrito. Breakfast burrito was average and not flavorful. The other two were good. Took just 5 minutes from ordering to having the items. These 3 items to feed 6 people. Cars in front of me as well. Nice customer service. A total of 4 stars.

San Diego, I've missed you so much! I know Santee is further from where I'd normally get tacos, burritos, and carne asada fries, but that's where I was staying for this particular vacation. My friend and I came here for dinner and witnessed the obscene amount of food they give. I got the Surf and Turf Fries, which were pretty good. Definitely filling. Didn't love the sauce on top, but I did enjoy the horchata I got on the side. The horchata was mostly ice, but oh well. Decent amount of seating inside the restaurant, as well as parking. Not bad overall!

Don't bother ordering in advance or online. Because they don't make your food until you get there. I showed up 20 minutes after ordering which was a bit after the estimated time for my order to be ready. Then I arrived and waited another 10 minutes watching people go up to the counter order and get their food before I got mine. Pretty lame.

I've been hearing about this taco shop on social media but it's so out the way I never made time to come out this way. I'm glad I did though because it was worth it!! I only tried the carne asada fries so I might be a little biased but I'm willing to come back to try something else!

I've been here a couple of times and food is always good. Ive had their surf and turf fries (my favorite), birria tacos and ramen is loaded, elote is solid, and most of their tacos are really filling. So many choices on their menu, you'll definitely find something you like.

Yum! Rolled tacos AKA taquitos were delicious. We shared the order of 5 rolled tacos and also ordered a side of refried beans. Everything was delicious. The rolled tacos were crispy and filled with a good amount of shredded beef. They top them with guacamole, cheese, sour cream and lettuce. It is a meal in itself! The side order of beans was large and tasted great.

My partner and I loved everything we tried here! We ordered the surf and turf fries, potato taquitos, fish taco, horchata, and cold brew horchata, and.... WOW! The cooks put a lot of love and thought into these recipes, clearly. The portions were more than generous (except for the fish in the fish taco- it was very tiny) and the flavors were abundant. I am only giving four stars because they are really understaffed. They had one person taking care of the line of in person customer and drive thru orders. That one person was also in charge of making coffee drink orders and they were stretched so thin that they forgot my cold brew horchata altogether and I had to remind them to make my drink before we left.

Great spot for good Mexican food in east county . Here's my food review-- Campechana 1/2 fries 1/2 nachos -- the angus steak is charred beautifully and well seasoned . The adobada was succulent and savory ! Love that they offer half nacho and half fries because it's great having options . Also, the red hot sauce is AMAZING-- and I'm super picky with my hot sauces, but this was pretty fire; Perfect amount of spice for me . I wish it was fresh guac instead of like a guac crema-- but i still would ! Potato rolled tacos-- the potato filling is plentiful and creamy . The rolled tacos themselves are crisp and addicting to eat . The green salsa verde it comes with is a dream-- zesty and bright . I would order this with extra lettuce next time . Surf and turf burrito-- I'm usually not a fan of rice in my burritos, but wow-- I almost want to say it was the star of the show . The rice was sooo delicious . The angus steak is the same well-seasoned bite from my campechana fries . The shrimp were medium-sized and plump . The chipotle crema is the icing on the cake-- Totally would ask for extra chipotle crema on the side . Enjoy this with the red hot sauce-- super tasty and appetizing . Horchata and Jamaica are housemade, delicious, and super refreshing to pair with all the savory goods . The shop is located in a small shopping center with plenty of shared parking . Love the artwork on the outside and plenty of clean indoor seating . The employee that helped me out was nice-- I think his name was Beto . There's also a drive thru if you want to order to-go .

I love coming to this place for the birria tacos but this last visit will be just that, my last. Rude customer service. While the girl at the window was taking my order, she was laughing hysterically and not listening. So by the time I got to the window(after waiting in the drive through line for 20-25 minutes) my order was wrong at the window. The asked if I could basically make my own food and they put everything on the side. Not cool and no care to make any of it right. Lost one today.

Wow..just wow. I ordered a California burrito from here to pick up and go. It was like a tasty meat and French fry quesadilla. The cheese made it superior to other California burritos I have tried.

I just got my Steak and Egg breakfast burrito and am having it for dinner right now. Bad Hombres, good food!!

No pictures cuz who got time for that when you got one of these thick ass burritos in your face. I'm more of a Northern California burrito guy with "filler" ie; rice and beans.. so I got the surf and turf with beans , sour cream, guacamole and boy o boy.. finally a delicious burrito. Every component of the burrito tasted amazing. The cheese was melted, the rice and beans intertwined through the meat and shrimp and the sour cream and quacamole was a delicious cold contrast to the hot rice and beans. Ordered the food and they were quick and didn't hesitate to take my complicated order. It's a well oiled restaurant that is fine in and drive through. Everyone was nice and I can't wait to go back and in the meantime I'm having my leftovers for dinner! That burrito was hella big!

My wife and I finally dedicated ourselves to try this place that we drive past so often. It only seemed to get busier and busier over time, letting us know that it was finally worth stopping in. The drive through was packed and we were surprised when walking in that there were so many people sitting and eating-in. We didn't wait long to order at the front counter and the clerk was helpful and friendly with suggestions after asking us if this was our first visit. Our food came fast and was piping hot. Just the way I like it. The tortillas for the tacos were very fresh and so soft and delicious. So why only 4 stars? The guacamole. I ordered tacos and made it a combo adding chips and guacamole. The chips were delicious. The guacamole however tasted like store bought guacamole. It was highly pureed and not at all like the rest of the food in the restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice. The service team was polite and helpful. We found parking without any trouble. The food was prepared quickly. We will be back to this Bad Hombre.

Glad we tried this recommendation out. It's our new taco shop. The burritos are consistently delicious. Service is friendly be accommodating. We usually drive thru and there's almost always a little bit of a line which is a good testament to how solid this place is. Call out to the chipotle crème sauce.

Food here is always tasty and service always friendly! The drive thru line can sometimes be quite long but the food is worth wait. Oh and a plus for drive thru dervice...have never had errors in my orders!

Horrible Service, Rude Staff, Overpriced and Soggy Tacos This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The tacos are $6 each, with no sides--just plain tacos. When I asked about the pricing, Emily G got an attitude right away and was extremely rude. I decided to remove some tacos from my order because of how overpriced they were, and when she gave me the new total of $32.36, I said that was better. That's when she mocked me, saying, "Oh, she can only afford $30 haha." The manager, a Mexican woman, was no better. After I removed the extra tacos, she gave them to the employees, and I overheard them laughing and saying, "Oh, free tacos--that's what the girl wanted." It was incredibly disrespectful and uncalled for. On top of that, Emily lied and claimed I was causing a scene when I wasn't even raising my voice or being rude at all. She also claimed I didn't want to pay, which was completely false. To make things even worse, they made me sign a receipt with the total, assuming I'd dispute the purchase. They didn't give me a copy of it, only the receipt listing the items, with no price or total on it. It felt like they were trying to cover something up and assumed I'd cause trouble, which was totally unnecessary and rude. After the transaction, Emily mockingly said, "Have a great day" as if the issue was settled. I waited at the window to ask about my drinks, and when she finally opened the window, she snapped, "Is there a problem?" She kept slamming the window and was completely unprofessional. When they asked if I wanted sauce, I specifically said green only, and she gave me an attitude about it. There were also tomatoes on the taco when I didn't ask for them, and they added an insane amount of onions, which completely overwhelmed the tacos. The tortillas were soggy, and I didn't even get limes. This incident happened on January 25th at 9:32 PM. Save yourself the trouble and go to Sayulita's Mexican Food--it's a million times better than this place. Avoid Bad Hombres at all costs--it's not worth your money or time!

We grabbed some grub for takeout from Bad Hombres. I had a Red Taco and a Shrimp Taco. I added a side of Frijoles de la Olla. The Red Taco was easily one of the best tacos that I've ever had in my life...and I've had a lot of tacos. Slow cooked marinated shredded beef, grilled cheese, onion & cilantro. The beef was so tender and so juicy and so good! The shrimp taco was good, but honestly not my favorite. I thought that guac was an odd topping for a shrimp taco. The beans were to die for! Whole beans, bacon, house salsa & cotija cheese Becky had her go-to. Three Rolled Tacos fully loaded with a side of refried beans for dipping, of course! She loved them as per usual. Quick and friendly service. Ordered online for pick up. Bad Hombres Great Mexican food!
