Wonderful, intimate resort in the hills overlooking Arezzo. Spent three nights here while sightseeing and every day we found ourselves rushing back early to get more time by the Badia’s pool with a drink. The place is obviously the product of years of planning. It comes through in details like the playful illustrations on the “do not disturb” signs and the exquisite ceramic mugs and plates that anchor the breakfast service. The place wasn’t busy during our stay, so it felt a little like our own private villa with a staff of fifteen to tend the gardens and keep us fed. Service was reliably excellent, especially at dinner, where the servers treated us warmly and the thoughtful sommelier paired our dishes with surprising (and delicious) selections from the cellar.
Other than the Bvlgari bath products, the place isn’t flashy, so don’t arrive expecting a Four Seasons-style mega-resort. In my view, it’s better. Simple, quiet luxury and a destination in itself. And LGBTQ friendly, if that matters to you.
If we’re lucky, we’ll be back.
