Badia di Pomaio (Arezzo, Tuscany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There may be no historical building form better suited to a bout of luxe escapism than the monastery — and a Tuscan one offers additional charms that are specific to the region. Badia di Pomaio, in its original form, dates back to 1645, but it was only in 2019 that it underwent its transformation, becoming a stylish and tastefully luxurious boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

What a beautiful boutique, historic property nestled in the hills of Tuscany. Everywhere you look is another stunning view. The hotel itself is gorgeous and thoughtfully appointed. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who carefully balance friendliness and professionalism expected of a 5 star hotel. Finally, the restaurant was EXCEPTIONAL - we had meals that exceeded our Michelin star meals that we had on our trip — we decided to arrange dinner again the second night given how outstanding the first dinner was. Thank you so much to the entire team!

Fantastic experience at Badia di Pomaio. We truly enjoyed the small luxury boutique hotel, with all of the services and professionalism of a much bigger resort. Rooms were stunning, pool views was gorgeous, gardens were sumptuous... and it felt almost like a private retreat. We have traveled across the world, always looking for the best among small luxury hotels/resorts (under 20 rooms). This rivals some of our faves, with a staff that couldn't do enough for you, discrete housekeeping and excellent food. Would highly recommend.

Badia di Pomaio is a truly luxurious gem in the Tuscan hills. Everything there from the architecture and design to the warm, attentive service feels effortless and refined. Their own garden full of vegetables, the food, and the atmosphere make it one of those places that instantly leave a lasting impression. We had the pleasure of photographing a wedding there, and every moment felt like a scene from a dream.

We enjoyed a wonderful short break at Badia di Pomaio. The location is perfect, nestled in a beautiful setting in the hills above Arezzo. All aspects of the property and gardens have been thoughtfully designed to ensure comfort, while not compromising its Tuscan heritage. Breakfast and dinner were both fabulous. However, by far the standout aspect of our stay was the superlative service. Everyone was exceptional, but individual shout outs to Giulia, who kindly shared her knowledge of Italian wines, through an impromptu tour of the wine cellar, and Davide, who shared detailed parking, restaurant and historic sight recommendations for both Arezzo and Cortona. Thank you for a restful and thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Spent 3nights before going to a wedding in Sienna. It is a magical place on all fronts. To start with location, it is private with views and approximate to Arezzo. Hotel, gardens, swimming pool and the farm.. are all super clean, well designed and immersed within surroundings. Food is fresh from the garden and wine selection was super. We loved the wine cellar selection of wine! Staying at night under the starry nights was really beautiful. The staff were professionals and so kind. Hard to name all but from start to end they were all fabulous! Big thank you Badia di Pomaio for such a wonderful stay and we will definitely come back again 👍🏻

It is difficult to describe this wonderful place. It is a very small boutique hotel with a very large presence. The grounds are stunning and the hotel used a designer to create an atmosphere that is relaxing and beautiful. Some of the furnishings are made by local artisans and clearly has focused on every little detail from the lighting to the furniture to the fabrics. There is even a really cute cat house on the property. The servers Sylvia and Erlinda were great making sure we had whatever we needed. We enjoyed the breakfasts with lots of delicious choices however we felt the dinner options were not what we normally enjoy eating. The presentations were very artistic but we felt it was more sophisticated than what we like. It was more like what a Michelin star restaurant would offer. We highly recommend this place.

DAVIDE and MARTINA greeted us upon arrival at this mystical magical transformed abbey in Arezzo. |the first thing you notice is how amazingly quiet it is. this boutique hotel/resort is situated atop a peak that overlooks this beautiful valley and we were completely surprised that we had not heard of this special place before.|the staff was the sweetest kindest and most attentive we had experienced in all of italy, so far, on our 40th wedding anniversary vacation. |we checked into our room and the amenities, layout and modern style of our suite was beyond what we expected so we immediately kicked back and toasted ourselves with a glass of complimentary prosecco that was provided with the room.|||we had been traveling that day, up from rome, with a stop in orvieto. i had not made plans for dinner so i called down to the front desk to ask for a dinner reservation. no problem "7:30?" "yes, that will be perfect". |||is this a five star MICHELIN restaurant? you could have fooled us. the chefs that i saw working in this spectacular kitchen were whipping up one of the most sumptuous meals we had had on this two week trip through italy. and the wine list and knowledgeable servers were beyond out of this world! |we were completely pampered by everyone at this valhalla......even the groundskeepers who vacated their duties, when i came out the next day to swim in the infinity pool, took a break so i could enjoy the view and solitude of the moment.|||a vacation in itself. |we could have easily stayed here for another week.|we will be back.|||the norton's|los angeles|may 2025

Wonderful, intimate resort in the hills overlooking Arezzo. Spent three nights here while sightseeing and every day we found ourselves rushing back early to get more time by the Badia’s pool with a drink. The place is obviously the product of years of planning. It comes through in details like the playful illustrations on the “do not disturb” signs and the exquisite ceramic mugs and plates that anchor the breakfast service. The place wasn’t busy during our stay, so it felt a little like our own private villa with a staff of fifteen to tend the gardens and keep us fed. Service was reliably excellent, especially at dinner, where the servers treated us warmly and the thoughtful sommelier paired our dishes with surprising (and delicious) selections from the cellar. Other than the Bvlgari bath products, the place isn’t flashy, so don’t arrive expecting a Four Seasons-style mega-resort. In my view, it’s better. Simple, quiet luxury and a destination in itself. And LGBTQ friendly, if that matters to you. If we’re lucky, we’ll be back.
