The hubby had meetings at the U.S. Embassy which is located across the street from the hotel so the children and I were "stuck" at this gorgeous hotel in Rome on the Via Venetto while he was busy working. Just trying to live La Dolce Vita!
When I have the opportunity to stay at a nice hotel I always recall the days when I use to work at the Phoenician Resort. I was there when they first opened their doors. The efforts they took to get Five Diamond ratings where simple refined details that would ensure your stay was going to be extra special.
Those details can be found here. Turn down service includes chocolates breakfast menu and slippers. Useful since our floors were chilly marble. But most rooms are carpeted.
Bathroom has an amenity kit and shower necessities, bidet, marble double sinks, comfy bathrobes, telephone, magnifying mirror, rain shower, scale (but I never used that!), and a heated towel rack.
We had two rooms adjoined by a private hallway (almost impossible to find a room with two double beds in Europe)
Our Master suite had a nice view of the Via Venetto and the Embassy. Windows opened up to feel the fresh chilly air and to hear the sounds of the city but ironically it was very quiet once the windows closed.
Comfy beds with lots of spot lighting for reading, color tv but limited local channels. Movies to purchase available including kid cartoons.
Our stay included free WIFI and a wonderful breakfast buffet that had eggs, bacon, sausage, grilled tomatoes and sauteed mushrooms, artisan breads, pastries, chocolate croissants, dry cereal, juices, fruits, cheese, deli meat, and cappucino which I enjoyed!
Since the first few days we suffered from jetlag, lack of sleep from 13 hour plane ride and a lingering nasty cough and cold I have to say I was eternally grateful for the comfortable beds! I did order room service once and was able to get some to-go items from a local restaurant.
The staff was so freindly and courteous. They asked how I was feeling and were always smiling. When we checked out I forgot a shopping bag in the lobby they called our cell and said they would mail it to us if we couldnt go back to get it.
What I love the most about the Regina Baglioni Hotel is that it has the ambiance, service and quality that you would expect from a hotel of this caliber and the hospitality that is genuine without ridiculous nightly rates.
Nice elegant cafe and restaurant with chandeliers, oil painitinigs and sculptures, heavy drapes, mantels, and fresh flowers.
Nice quaint elegant lobby, friendly doorman, outstanding concierge, and airport transfers arranged seemlessly.
If you are wondering where to stay in Rome think no more stay here. Convenient to walk to many restaurants including the Hard Rock Cafe.
Be sure and ask for a room with a view!
