Relais Santa Croce

"Set the scene for us. What's this place all about?Relais Santa Croce Florence is Florentine luxury at its very best—and barely two blocks from the Santa Croce church itself. The historic Renaissance-era palazzo is impeccably restored, with resplendent marbles and frescoes, and positioned comfortably away from the city's touristy chaos. Nice. Who are we likely to see here? This is a super-elite crowd that prefers quiet anonymity—no one is here to brag or show off. You'll see lots of well-to-do honeymooners, too. How's check-in and service overall?White-glove all the way. If we really want to maximize our visit, is there a specific room we should try to book? The De Pepi Presidential Suite is truly over the top, with a vaulted ceiling with gorgeous frescoes. The overall decor is luxurious and chic; think sumptuous wallpaper, period furniture, and high-end Pratesi sheets. Sounds blissful. Any little amenities we'll find that make the stay all the more comfortable?Rooms have well-stocked minibars, daily (and complimentary) confections by the in-house chef, Ortigia bath products, and excellent hair dryers. Several bathrooms also have steam saunas. If we want a little more than minibar and daily confections, what are our options?Rooms also have coffee and tea; but the breakfast room is lovely and the buffet is wonderful. There are two onsite restaurants: Guelfi e Ghibellini (classic Tuscan cuisine) and Enoteca Pinchiorri (with three Michelin stars). The Sala di Musica (the communal lounge) is a gorgeous backdrop for late-afternoon aperitivi. Anything else we should know about staying here?Relais Santa Croce has a great selection of experiences that grant insider access to local artisans, galleries, and events. So why would you recommend the Relais Santa Croce?Come to experience Florence at its most luxurious." - Erica Firpo

Where to Stay in Florence: The Best Neighborhoods For Your Visit

"I enjoyed the historic elegance of Relais Santa Croce, set in an 18th-century building that retains frescoed ceilings and hardwood floors; the spacious guestrooms each showcase different historic elements (from four-poster beds to exposed beams), and all have a desk, flatscreen TV, minibar and large bathrooms with a bidet, bathrobes and complimentary bath products, plus a varied free breakfast each morning." - Matthew Kepnes

We stayed at Palazzo Firenze with my family of 5 including 3 adult kids. This property is a hidden gem - it’s only 24 rooms and it feels like a private residence with the grand common spaces, beautiful fresco art and decor, and personalized service. We booked a double and triple room and were very impressed with how large and comfortable the rooms were - and they have Acqua di Parma bath products very nice! The common spaces are lovely and very historic, breakfast was well done with both self serve items and cooked to order eggs, waffles, crepes, etc. There is a restaurant and bar on the lobby level, and a Michelin 3 star restaurant on the entry level that is one of the best restaurants in Florence. We lived there location of the property on a quiet side street but only steps to the Piazza Santa Croce and a 5-10 min walk to all the top sights in Florence. Best part of the stay for us was the friendly staff and personalized service - they knew us and welcomed us home with friendly faces every day of our stay. Highly recommend this luxe property.

First class experience from start to finish. Beautiful palace and museum. The view from our room is incredible! The staff are professional, courteous and attentive. I love this place!

Loved Palazzo Firenze, with its intimate accommodations, quiet footpath to the hotel, great common areas and simple but filling breakfasts. Would recommend as centrally located to everything, but not in the heart of the action... hence, great night sleeps and personalized attention.

This was a very pleasant hotel found through Costco Travel. The room was large and pillows soft, the bed was a bit too firm for our taste, and it was frustrating that removing the room key turned off the power (turning off everything e.g chargers and AC whenever we left, not the best setup during heatwave but similar to other hotel setups). Every staff member we interacted with was cordial and helpful often speaking better English than myself and they did not grimace too obviously at my butchered Italian. Jokes aside they provided helpful recommendations for the area and made for an enjoyable stay. The location was just over a kilometer from the train station (an easy 25 minute walk), and otherwise located in the heart of all the tourist-centric attractions.

We had an amazing experience at this lovely boutique hotel in Florence. Filippo and Larissa were gracious to our entire family throughout our stay. Breakfast was superb, and I'll be dreaming of their chocolate cake. Stayed in a junior suite with our college aged son, and we had plenty of room to spread out.

Google
the hotel is very close to the good area, however the street itself that it is on, can be at night a tad uncomfortable for a lone traveler. the hotel front doors get locked at midnight. that being said the service is very friendly. the rooms are very nice. there is a bar in the hotel however no shops or real lobby. it serves the purpose well for a nice place to sleep but not much of a vibe.

Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni is a fantastic hotel in a great location in Florence. The staff is wonderful and helpful. The service level and food is great. We would stay again and I highly recommend this property.

Google
We had a delightful stay at the Palazzo during our days in Florence. Its location was ideal for trattorias, cafes and sightseeing, and just a few blocks from the river. The staff, including Filippo, Larissa and Chris, were friendly and helpful, and the room was quite pleasant. It’s a small boutique hotel and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. Taxis are available through AppTaxi and highly recommended as it can take some time to find a driver. Visit the south side through the Ponte Vecchio bridge; far less crowded and quite refreshing from the density of old Florence!

Yelp
Great location, Breakfast is very nice and housekeeping does a a great job, but a few strange things here. We booked under Relais Santa Croce and they changed the hotel name to Palazzo Firenze a few weeks later. The floor was concrete cement. They told us our room was "upgraded". Note- For anyone with mobility issues it is a long distance, and there are a lot of stairs and ramps just to get to the front door or main elevator. Talking to the concierge, trying to book the tour we wanted to take was 350 euro PP and we were to pay them in cash only, they wouldn't accept any cards for any tours. We didn't have this experience anywhere else while visiting all over Italy, over the last 12 days. I went on Google, found Eco Tours Florence and we paid $59 a person (on a card) for an excellent half day tour all over Florence with Giacomo. We wanted to get some change at the reception desk for either euros or dollars to give tips to housekeeping and the bellman, but they couldn't help us with that either. Thankfully the only American we met "Chris" helped us out with some change to save the day. After the weird cash only scenario, (the evening of our arrival) tried to leave the hotel and end our stay after one night, but they wanted to charge us $900 for the next night as well. Don't recommend, it's the only hotel throughout our entire stay that was disappointing.

Yelp
I'm very torn about this review. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are large and well appointed. The location is excellent and you can easily walk to many sights and great shopping and restaurants. However for the 2 nights we stayed here the air conditioning was out. However the staff provided fans and waived our bar bill and other items at check out. They were gracious , kind and apologetic for our experience. They went out of their way to make a bad situation bearable. I will give them another chance as the hotel offers a lot but the staff truly elevated our experience. They are A plus.

Yelp
They ripped us off on the billing. Offered us an upgrade for an accepted counter offer price then charged us the full rate at check out. They totally ripped us off. A bunch of dishonest thieves.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! But be warned there are A LOT of steps going to the reception area. The rooms are spacious and well appointed but the last time we were here the tubs were a bit too high...it was a bit awkward getting in and out of it. Your stay comes with complimentary breakfast and it is nothing like the continental cold cereal and pastry you would get in the states. Boards of select cheeses, cured meats, jams and spreads are all beautifully laid out for your consumption. Every tourist attraction is very close thus an easy walk from the hotel. So are restaurants and cafes. The one down side is that it is centrally located so you are smack dab in the heart of university land so if you are here in the fall you will feel like you are in NY's little Italy during the feast of San Genarro festival. There was even a beer pong tournament going at a local bar across the street so brought back my wild and out college days for a night. The staff was very nice and warm.

Yelp
Elegant and classy accommodations in the heart of Florence. The entire team at this hotel is top notch. The rooms are old school, but extremely clean and classy. Lots of character in this place. Marco the GM gave a special invitation for an opera concert which was happening in the music room of the hotel. What a spendid event and gorgeous setting. It was truly spectacular. Overall an absolute solid choice in the heart of Florence with exceptional character and service.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, Dorian greeted us warmly. We were given a tour of the property and had all our questions answered while enjoying a glass of Prosecco. We were provided with a map, given suggestions of different tourist attractions. She even offered to call ahead to reserve our museum tickets. The service provided was 5 star. The property is incredibly beautiful which is a historical site, a former theatre. It has a gorgeous musical room with amazing acoustics, there was a piano player when we arrived. Our stay was truly magical. We were very happy with our accommodations. Our room was spacious, comfortable with a view overlooking the Maria Santa Croce church. Our room was kept extremely clean and organized. We were also provided with complimentary snacks from the chef on a daily basis. Our experience was so lovely we considered extending our stay in Florence. We will absolutely be back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Yelp
First, this was the third week traveling in Europe, so this was our 8th hotel. The hotel is nice and rooms better than average. The restaurant food was below average and the risotto was not very good so left uneaten. Our waitress was awesome and was so kind to not charge for the dish.her service was impeccable. I would give her 5 stars. However, after a night in the hotel, my wife and I woke up with bug bites. I reported it to the front desk and their response was, did you leave the windows open because it's that time of year and Mosquitos are abundant. I told them I did not and just wanted to report so they could check the room. She didn't seem to care and just blew it off. Also , another frustrating item in this day, is to charge extra for wifi. Not only do they charge, but the connection speed is horrible. For these 2 items, I give the overall experience for this hotel 2 stars and would not recommend.
