10 Places Where Italians Travel in Italy, According to a Local

"The five-mile stretch of coast to Miramare turns into a rocky beach, and beach clubs open in the city center (my favorite is La Lanterna, which is so old-school that there are still separate areas for men and women)." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We weren’t sure what to expect when visiting this beach, but we definitely didn’t expect this magnitude of excellence. We were immediately greeted by a lovely, energetic lady who separated us by gender, making sure to preserve the old traditions of this magnificent beach. Speaking of history, the whole place looked like Caesar and Fabio Fognini could swim here without the surroundings changing, Italians are definitely great at maintaining their heritage. Honestly, the best thing about this beach wasn’t the lovely man furiously masturbating in the sea, boosting our self-esteem, but the efficiency of guest management. If you swim near the borders, a large piece of turd will alert you to get back to shore, something I haven’t seen in other countries yet. Sometimes, a problem some facilities face is long wait lines for the toilets. Don’t worry, Italians thought of that too, adding electrical sparks to the flush systems to deter anyone from overspending time in the cabin. Honestly, we were amazed by this Italian engineering, and we might come back in a few years if this place changes. Love from 🇨🇿 5/5 Keep being great, Italia.

Unique pebble beach, separate between women and men. I felt very safe to take a nap on the beach after long walk.

Dogs aren’t allowed, which is a shame if you’re a solo traveler and this is the only beach nearby. I couldn’t go in, so I can’t give a full review.

Price 1,20 per person, divided into women’s and men’s areas. Women’s area is crowded. Children are screaming and women are topless. A little bit annoying.

The entrance fee was 1€ per person when we visited in the middle of August. The beach is not too large so it can get crowded. However, we had a very pleasant experience as there weren't too many people. The sea is beautiful and very clear. The whole area is clean and the life guards make you feel very safe when it comes to your belongings or well-being. There is a little snack store where you can buy beverages, hot and cold food and other snacks for reasonable prices. Note that there are separate areas for men and women (and all children < 12). In the sea you can swim together along the border but the beach areas are strictly divided. So maybe not the best place for a family visit. All together a pleasant experience.

in Trieste, not far from the centre, there is a municipal beach which is the only one to still retain habits from over a century ago: it is divided into two, one part for men and one (the largest and also the most beautiful ) for women. there is a long equipped porch where you can undress freely and leave your clothes and shoes, a kiosk, and many armchairs available. you feel free to be topless even at eighty years old and there is an atmosphere of discretion and sharing at the same time. in short, it feels really good, it would be nice if there wasn't any need, but it makes you wish you could find more like it.

Only 1€ for the entrance which makes this place the cheapest paid beach in Trieste. It’s devided. The women’s part is always overcrowded because kids usually go with mothers. To go to the sea with little kids this place is great because it’s closed, they can’t escape to the street. There is a bar and bathrooms, there shade areas and sunny.

A small beach a couple of minutes walk from the center. Paid entrance (€1.20) and the beach is divided by a wall into men/women sectors. It's possible to pay by card. The beach is quite small, you can't swim out on the open sea and the water is very shallow. Fine for a quick dip, not suitable for swimming.
