The Bahamas Historical Society is a small but informative place for anyone interested in the island’s past. The exhibits are well-organized, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a great stop to gain insight into Bahamian history and culture in a relaxed, educational setting.

This museum was the highlight of our trip to Nassau. The amazing Tom provided us with the best history lesson. It was absolutely fascinating and so well told. The artifacts in the museum were varied and interesting. I bought 2 great books. Plus, air conditioning and $1 water bottles. We could have stayed all day! An easy walk from the cruise ships. This place is not to be missed. Thank you so much, Tom! Jenifer and Gabrielle

The Bahamas Historical Society is a fascinating museum suitable for all ages. If you want to learn about the true history of the Bahamas from a local perspective, you must stop here. The museum is essentially one large room but you can easily spend an hour plus looking at the collections, including a few astonishingly rare items that you would never be able to approach in a large museum. If you happen to stop while Tom Wardle is volunteering, so much the better—he is a fount of information. But either way way, skip the canned cruise ship tour and take the short stroll over. The admission price is nominal and anyone interested in history won’t be disappointed.

This was a fascinating place. What made it most fascinating was the gentleman there that gave us a tour. His memory and Family ties to the area was a wealth of information. This is right near the queen staircase and I’m glad we walked in.

Highly recommended, no other place tells the modern history of the Bahamas like this. Local knowledge. Our guide Thomas was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the history of the Bahamas. Very affordable and worth it.

A hidden gem in the centre of Nassau. A volunteer from the historical society gave a tour (included in the 5usd donation) which was very interesting and informative. There were plenty of opportunities to interact and understand the history and culture. The exhibition is rather small but rich enough and worth a visit.

Wonderful place with an amazing man that runs the building. Excellent place to start your trip in Nassau to understand the history of the island. Also gave great recommendations on things to see with the time we had. 10/10
