I had a wonderful stay at Bahay Kubo and felt at home as soon as I stepped into the place. I arrived very early in the morning after a night flight and was able to shower, get ready and was even given a freshly made coffee for free by Raymond, the owner. What a welcome! He is such an open-minded, motivating, enthusiastic and friendly person! He wants every guest to have the best time in the Philippines and is willing to take the time and help you plan your route with extra local tips and advices. The place itself is very clean, quiet and safe. So cozy and beautifully decorated as well! I highly recommend! :)

The best place to start your trip in Manila and Philippines. The location is near so many important places, parks, museums, ferry port, train, busses. The layout of the hostel brings everyone together and I met so many nice travelers. The owner Li and all who work here treat you like family and make sure you have all the info you need to visit the best places in Philippines. Local foods, mall and convenient shops are all a minute away. Start here, and you'll be all set !

This was the perfect hostel to start my trip in. Li and Mike were super welcoming and helpful. I felt so safe and comfortable in the hostel. Li is all knowing, he will give incredible travel suggestions out of the kindness of his heart. He is invested in your travels and gives you so much of his attention. He is a gem and I feel so lucky to have met both him and Mike. Hopefully I get to come and stay again :)))

I wish I could give more stars because there service is worth a 100 stars, Li and mike are the most helpful people I’ve ever met. The vibe of the hostel is one I’ve never experienced before. Short stay/long stay, it take’s only moments before this place will feel like a home, a safe place to relax, meet new people and create the most beautiful memories. I almost never write reviews, but these guys deserve every kind word and every star given!

We had two nights here in Manila. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful with our ongoing trip. They also spent time with us teaching us a regional card game (tong it's). It was fun! We did not like the city Manila itself as it's very crowded and polluted but we loved staying at the hostel. Good value for money, clean rooms, friendly staff and travellers. So what do you need more? Absolutely recommendable!

We stayed at Bahay Kubo hostel with the lovely Lee and pup Storm for two nights and it was the best stay we've ever had in a hostel. The hostel is beautiful with boho chic decor as you can see in the pictures. The owner Lee is really friendly and helpful and will let you know all about the area from restaurants to things to do and see. Not to mention the great location safe in the middle of town walking distance to everything you need. All the other staff members are very friendly and the rooms and common areas are comfortable and clean. We spent our first day exploring the city and that evening hung out with the other guests in the upstairs common area which is the perfect place for chilling out and even has a guitar you can play. The hostel was such a nice place to be that we could have spent our whole time inside!! To top it all off on the last night Lee treated all of his guests to a beautiful home cooked meal where we got to try traditional Filipino dishes and swap travel stories with all of the other guests from around the world. Stay here when you visit Manila and you won't be disappointed!!

This is a great little hostel in Manila. It's in a good location in that its walking distance to Intramuros (the walled city) while also giving an idea of normal life in Manila. There are some little local restaurants easy walking distance and a huge mall but a three minute walk from the hostel with loads of international food options. This area (as most of Manila) can be dangerous so be careful with your belongings and dont stay out at night. Girls I've never been catcalled more in my life than in manila so be warned. However once you step inside the hostel there is a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff are great. Really nice common areas with decent wifi. Hostel was clean but it is budget so the mattresses were extremely thin and not particularly comfortable. Overall I would recommend for those on a budget (who can cope with cold showers!)

Very well priced and clean with lovely helpful staff. The communal areas of the hostel are spacious and comfortable with fans, day beds for lounging, lush décor, good wifi and lots of charging points. The kitchen area and refrigerator are also super handy if you don't fancy trying to find breakfast first thing or if you have an early/late flight. Having stayed here twice - the Aircon room is much more comfortable than the fan room (quieter and cooler) so spend the extra if you can, its not much more.
