"Bioluminescent Bay, Vieques This was the experience of a lifetime. We were fortunate to be there on the required dark night with no moon. We used see-through canoes to paddle to the middle of this inlet off the Caribbean at midnight. All wildlife in the very clear water was luminescent -- we could see fish jumping and swimming and plankton hanging around. This bay is one of very few in the world that lights up at night -- a true glow-in-the-dark experience brought to you by Mother Nature. By Julie Simon"

"At night, head to Mosquito Bay, the famous bay with the microorganisms that light up in the darkness. You take a little boat tour to see the Bioluminescent Bay. Take the latest tour out; the darker it is, the more beautiful the organisms are."

In the evenings, there are visits to the bioluminescent bay. It is best to time your visit to coincide with the new moon so you get the most out of the glowing bay experience.

Memorable experience. We booked for a bioluminescence tour at 7.30P-8.30PM. It was dark enough to observe the luminescent affect in the water, while we kayaked. We went as different groups and our friends in the other groups, who went later, said that the views were too good during later times in the night. You'd enjoy if you have prior kayaking experience. Otherwise, you would need to waste some time in learning kayaking, rather than, enjoying that luminescent views in the water. Though they offer tours for kids above 4, it is suggested that kids are at least 6-7 year old to not get scared in that ride. A must have experience.

Awesome experience. Pick a moonless night if you can. I only saw a couple mosquitoes but I’d image at times they could be bad here as other mentioned.

Not to miss this one. Its advisable to book a tour and kayak in this bio luminescent bay. You can experience stars floating in the ocean.

Wonderful experience, calm waters, we paddled in with the dinghy and enjoyed some bioluminescence. The way from sun bay can be a bit rough when it gets dark, and be aware there is a reef, so check out the area in the daytime before you attempt driving there at night on your own.

I went recently with a tour. 65 dollars for 1.5 hr but reallt about 30~40 mins on kayak and rest is really pick up and drop off. It was just a dim white light under water. Nothing spectacularly visible out there. If I had known, I'd skip. But overall, I am glad I at least saw something like this for the first time and kayaking under stars was not a bad experience.

Once in a lifetime experience not be missed. Very hard to get good photos, enjoy what I was able to take using long exposure cam.

It was magical! We would definitely come back next visit. This experience is more than just visiting a place. Is one of those things that you add to your bucket list to do in a lifetime ❤️ Be prepared that not all phones can capture the glowing water ✨️ . Ours didn't, but we have it in our memories. It was our first time using a kayak. Everybody else in our group had prior experience, but this was not a problem. We had a blast... we didn't want to leave. Also, for those not so prone to enjoy adventure, be prepared to be uncomfortable during the ride to the bahía. The path is treacherous but incredibly awesome. My cudous to the driver. It all makes part of the magical experience.
