This is a beautiful beachfront villa but the staff were terrible. I have been travelling to Mozambique for several years to different locations across the country. This was my third trip up to Vilanculos. Prior to arriving at this beach house on this trip we stayed at Stay Easy - Maputo, Villa Zen - Praia do Tofo, Vilancool - Vilanculos, then here and after at San Marthino - Praia do Bilene. Every place that we visited was self catering except for Stay Easy. At every place that we stayed there was staff to assist with check in and unloading of luggage and carrying it into the house except for Bahia Mar Beach House. Upon arrival there was two males sitting outside the gate. They opened the gate for us to enter the property. We started offloading and they did not assist. There was one female who assisted. She is not able to assist with heavy luggage like cooler bags and camp fridges and heavy luggage bags. The two males just looked at us and then after seeing me getting annoyed with them just standing around they all of a sudden started pulling weeds from a small patch of grass. I contacted Bahia Mar to complain about the situation. If they are not there to help then I don't want them hanging around staring at us offloading. The female worker barely understood a word of English. She tried to be of assistance but was not very helpful. The next morning a plate of food was heated up for me. I was busy washing a grid and did not eat it immediately, the next moment I saw that she had taken away my plate which was untouched. This was shocking to receive this type of service from this establishment as this was also the most expensive place per night that we stayed at. It was explained to me that the two males was the gardener and security and that they do not assist guests as this is a self catering unit. This same self catering unit also does not even have an oven to cook meals, so semi-self catering in my opinion. This is not acceptable from an establishment of this sort. I use to own a holiday home in Mozambique a few years ago that was also self catering and we always had staff to assist guest with offloading and loading upon arrival and departure. Come on guys you can do better than this!
