I had a beautiful relaxing time at the Bahia Grand Samana. The service was 10/10, the private beach and scenery is absolutely beautiful. I would not recommend this hotel if you love night clubs and poolside entertainment (drinking contests etc the kind of thing you see in big hotels in Punta Cana ) but if you’re looking for a quiet, lowkey, beautiful spot to unwind and relax this is the place. The food was great, would have loved to have tried the Italian restaurant but it was closed while we were there. Excusions were nice and Samuel at the Amstar desk made it very easy and pleasant. We opted for the Limon falls and a visit to the Bahia village. I would do Cayo levantado if we had a few more days. The hotel room was spacious and comfortable, hotel was clean, food was good, beach and surroundings were absolutely beautiful.

I am not sure if I just went at a bad time, but I feel highly mislead by the reviews and website. The service and people are amazing, this speaks nothing on them! The hotel was old and dingy, there were NO restaurants open until Tuesday (we got there on Sunday). the buffet had hot dogs, chicken fingers, and hamburgers. some other inedible items not resort like. There was no beach access, all covered in seaweed. The room sent was so strong I had to ask front desk about it, like they are covering up something. The bed felt as if I were sleeping on a wooden plank. The bathroom had a "jacuzzi tub", i turned on and all the jets flew off with dirt. The paint in the bathroom was chipped all on back of door. TV did not work at all, which we needed because no food and no activities, the pool was crowded and small already. Drinks were watered down, even the wine. The front door had cracks and no inside bolt so anyone with a key could walk in. there was an inside safety door, which also didnt close. We asked to transfer to the other Bahia resrot the same day, but the department needed to authorize that was closed, so we were forced to stay at the hotel.. finally around noon the next day we got approval and had to pay $100 to take us to the other resort- which is a very high fee if you know the country. Overall extremely unpleased. The front desk staff were absolutely amazing. wasted a whole day miserable and no concessions offered. also all these awards are from 2016. they are not luxury or 5 star anymore . they have signs posted as if they are still qualifying, which could be fraud.

A super secluded resort tucked into a pocket of natural greenery with a private beach. Food was varied and fresh and the drinks strong and flavorful. Our only complaint was maybe having cold treats available like ice cream or popsicles. Staff was nice and extremely helpful.

I had a truly pleasant and relaxing stay. From the very beginning, the customer service was excellent—always friendly, smiling, and willing to help. One of my favorite things was seeing how well the staff interacts with each other. There’s a clear sense of good communication and a positive work environment throughout. I especially want to highlight Ana Ortega, the director, whose leadership style is truly admirable. Her respectful, approachable, and collaborative way of managing her team makes a real difference. Also, a special mention to Chef Jerson, who is incredibly kind, and whose food brings out the authentic flavors of Dominican cuisine in every dish. The views are breathtaking and the hotel’s cleanliness is impeccable. Without a doubt, a place I’d return to and highly recommend.

This was my first stay at Bahia Principe Grand Samaná, and I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. From the moment we walked in, the resort felt deserted. The walls were still lined with old “Luxury” certificates, but what we experienced was far from it — none of that standard exists anymore, and the downgrade isn’t mentioned anywhere. On our second night, a singer performed to an empty room. It was uncomfortable to watch — there were more staff than guests, and I felt genuinely uneasy being there. Walking through the hotel at night felt eerie, not relaxing. Food was terrible, only one restaurant open, watered-down wine, and room service unavailable until late. We had to leave the hotel to eat, despite paying for an all-inclusive package. Just two weeks earlier, we stayed at another resort in the same price range — full of life, great service, and actual value. This felt like a bad joke in comparison. I hope the refund process goes smoothly, because after all of this, it’s the least we deserve.

Traveling solo to this resort in Samaná was one of the best decisions I’ve made. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel safe, seen, and entirely at ease. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality created a welcoming environment that instantly felt like home.||My room was a peaceful haven, but the *view* — absolutely breathtaking. From my private balcony, I had an unobstructed view of the ocean, and every morning began with the gentle sound of waves and soft Caribbean breezes. I spent hours sitting there, watching the water and listening to the tide roll in — it was healing in every sense.|| Dining solo never felt awkward here; the staff made sure I was always comfortable, and the serene setting made every meal feel special. There was a calm rhythm to everything that allowed me to savor the moment truly.||I treated myself to a massage and pedicure at the spa. The space was serene, and I left the spa feeling both pampered and rebalanced.||What I loved most about this place was the atmosphere — tranquil, intimate, and homelike. It was the perfect place to disconnect from the noise of daily life and reconnect with myself. Whether I was journaling by the ocean, reading on my balcony, or swimming in the ocean, everything about this trip nourished my spirit.||If you're a solo traveler looking for peace, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality, this resort is a slice of heaven. I came here alone, but I left feeling deeply cared for — and completely renewed. I am grateful to have had this experience and appreciate every one of the staff. ||I am already planning my return.

In general i only post good review but i had to. I recently stayed at Bahia Principe Samana and while the location is undeniably beautiful, I left feeling disappointed. The beach is stunning, and the hotel's exterior and building design are impressive — it definitely has a lot of potential. However, the major issue was the food. Not only was the quality poor, but the buffet area was extremely hot with no air conditioning, which made it hard for the food to stay fresh. Even worse, there were flies all over the food — it was genuinely disgusting and unhygienic. I even took videos to document it and plan to share them publicly. Many other guests were complaining about the same thing, so this clearly isn't a one-time issue. What’s most frustrating is that the staff seemed fully aware but made no effort to solve it. If management takes food safety seriously, this place could be incredible. But until then, I can’t recommend it. We tried to stay possitive samana is so beautiful but the experience was really bad.

We are Bahia Principe Privilege Club members, and this is the first time visiting the Bahia Principe Grand Samana. Some aspects from other reviews of this resort are pretty accurate (limited nightlife, small resort, etc.), but if you are looking for the most beautiful and relaxing setting, this is the place for you.||The resort is small (only one pool and two bars - lobby and pool, limited restaurants), but it is the most beautiful Bahia resort we have stayed at (we have visited Punta Cana and La Romana in the DR, Runaway Bay in Jamaica, and Tulum in Mexico). The views from our room and anywhere in the resort are incredible. The beach is small, but there were plenty of cabanas available throughout the day.||There is limited a la carte dining available (only a few nights per week), but the buffet had plenty of variety, and all of the food was really good. Service throughout the resort was top notch - we saw the same staff throughout the week.||Nightlife was limited to singers in the lobby every night, and the show ended at 10 pm. Again, if you are seeking a boisterous nightlife, this is not the resort. The singers and bands were all excellent.||It is a 2.5 hour ride from the Santo Domingo airport to the resort on 2-way roads. You get a good feel for the variety of landscape on the island, but it makes for a long travel day.||If you are looking for a RELAXING getaway in a BEAUTIFUL resort, visit the Bahia Principe Grand Samana.
