This was my first stay at Bahia Principe Grand Samaná, and I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. From the moment we walked in, the resort felt deserted. The walls were still lined with old “Luxury” certificates, but what we experienced was far from it — none of that standard exists anymore, and the downgrade isn’t mentioned anywhere.
On our second night, a singer performed to an empty room. It was uncomfortable to watch — there were more staff than guests, and I felt genuinely uneasy being there. Walking through the hotel at night felt eerie, not relaxing.
Food was terrible, only one restaurant open, watered-down wine, and room service unavailable until late. We had to leave the hotel to eat, despite paying for an all-inclusive package.
Just two weeks earlier, we stayed at another resort in the same price range — full of life, great service, and actual value. This felt like a bad joke in comparison.
I hope the refund process goes smoothly, because after all of this, it’s the least we deserve.
