We were recommended here by our tour guide during our first, but brief visit to Cascais. I was slightly hesitant because of the reviews, but also quite hungry and wanted seafood. It almost seemed questionable if we would get in, but the downstairs was empty, and the hostess asked for our phone number and sent us upstairs. We were seated, albeit like sardines between two other tables. I will say it did take about 15-20 minutes for a server to even come by, and we just ordered everything at once. We opted for a bottle of wine, the crab dip appetizer, and two plates. As we watched the tables on each side of us order plate after plate, each one getting progressively larger and more extravagant, we thought perhaps we under-ordered!
Our wine arrived, which was light, and complimented our food perfectly. The crab dip was served in a large hollowed out crab shell, and was delicious, probably the best I've ever had, as it actually tasted like crab, with big chunks! My husband ordered a fish dish, and I went for the octopus, as I hadn't yet had any in Portugal. They were absolutely delicious, and quite large! The octopus was especially wonderful, and blew away every other piece of octopus I've eaten in my whole life. My husband didn't believe me when I said it had the consistency more like chicken, and none of the typical chewiness that they usually have...until he tasted it and nearly fell out of his chair. It was perfect. I wish we had gotten the fish soup, but I don't think I could have made it through the octopus if I had. The fish dish was also cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and so fresh!
While it may be a bit cramped and crowded inside, the service could be a little friendlier, and it's a tad loud, the food far and above makes up for it all, which is what counts most!
