Why You Should Go to This African Country for Your Next Safari—According to a Top Travel Advisor
"An iconic cluster of ancient baobab trees set amid the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, typically reached by quad bike across the stark, otherworldly white pans. The site pairs dramatic daytime vistas with exceptional nighttime skies—popular sleep-out experiences—and sits within the landscape where the annual zebra and wildebeest migration can be witnessed, offering both photographic drama and a sense of vast, open wilderness." - Marni Granston
Amazingly giant trees at the edge of the salt flat in Nxai Pan. The drive is more than one hour on sand tracks from the entrance. The ranger advised us to make sure there were no lions hidden among the trees before getting out of the car, but there were almost no animal sightings along the entire drive.

There are not many places in Botswana where I have seen a cluster of boababs together. Add the history of these trees and remoteness of the area and it is worth a visit (if you are prepared to brave about 40km (×2) of a bad sand road).

It is an amazing place with a magical feeling.
One of the best experience we had in Botswana. Very far away from everything and you are out in the wild. You have to like it but definitely worth to have a night there.
The way to go there is quite sandy but part of the experience. We stayed at Nxai south camp afterwards so a good combo for two or more nights. Book in advance if you would like to stay there and ask about the way at the gate.
Otherwise just enjoy this amazing and beautiful place.

Lovely boabab forest on the edge of a salt pan, with nearby camp sites. Need a 4x4 to get there.
