How to Make the Most of Vermont’s Maple Syrup Season

"Bonnie, Robert, and their daughter Jenna are on hand to talk about the finer points of certified organic maple farming. They have maple syrup available for purchase in easy-to-transport plastic jugs and gift-worthy glass bottles, ranging in size from gallon growlers to tiny wedding favors."

We absolutely loved our experience at Baird Maple Farm! The maple tour was both educational and fun — we learned so much about the rich history of maple sugaring, the different types of maple, how to tap a tree, and even about the legendary “maple mafia.” Jacob and Jenna were so nice and awesome!! Our tour guide, Jacob, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. He somehow memorized everyone’s name in our large group and made sure each person felt included throughout the tour. What truly sets Baird apart is their attention to ensuring everyone has a great time and feels comfortable asking questions. They are family owned and operated and you can tell they genuinely care about sharing their craft and making the process understandable and enjoyable. Of course, the best part was sampling all the different syrups! We found a new flavor that we loved, and ended up buying enough to feed a small village; but everything was so reasonably priced it was hard not to! Even more than that, we came away with a whole new appreciation for the labor, science, and heart that go into making pure maple syrup. Baird was the first stop on our Vermont maple tour, and it was a great starting point! Highly recommend this tour — it’s a must-visit! 🍁

We had an amazing experience at Baird Farm! In mid-October we attended a tour and it was fantastic! There was so much to learn about the history and process of maple syrup production. We started off the tour with just the two of us, but when some of the others who signed up for the tour arrived late, our guide was so helpful in catching them up and answering their questions. All that is not even to mention how absolutely DELICIOUS the syrup itself was. Tasting all the varieties (dependent on when in the season they were collected) and then also trying their infusion blends (which are made with local ingredients from their land) was a phenomenal experience. We bought some maple sugar, syrup, and an infused syrup, and they even shipped it back to our house so we did not have to worry about traveling with it. We are excited to try the recipes sent with them and what a nice little reminder of our time in the mail when we got back home! Overall, I would highly recommend this place both for a fun and educational tour AND for trying their delicious syrup and products!

There is a reason this place has all 5 star reviews, the visit is totally worth it. Jacob is a wonderful tour guide. He makes a point to remember everyone’s name, and was open to any and all questions. Having gone through this tour once already, I wouldn’t hesitate to go on this tour again. Each tour is unique and guided by the questions and interests of the visitors in the group. Plus the syrup at the end of the tour that you get to taste is amazing. The syrup makes for great gifts and I can’t wait to try the recipes from the recipe cards we got at the shop. I can’t wait to come back and visit again!

My boyfriend and I came for the once-a-year Woods Walk Tour yesterday, which was one of the main reasons we drove up to Vermont this year. It was such a special and educational experience — we learned so many fun facts and stories about the Baird family and Baird Farm. Huge thanks to Bob, Jenna, and Jacob for making it such a fun and memorable day! At the end, we got to taste 8 different kinds of delicious maple syrup — let’s just say, they fed us maple syrup (and we weren’t mad about it 😋). Absolutely loved it! What a gem in Vermont!

Everything from Baird Farm is amazing!! The maple is delicious and all their packaging and products are also gorgeous. I loved their syrups, infused syrups, and maple sugar so much when I was there last that I convinced all my friends to place a group order.

A 5+ star maple syrup farm visit! Visited October 2025. Jacob works the farm & gave us a highly informational tour. There is a small shop & you can choose their product items. You do not have to take a tour to stop in & shop. Taste tests given of syrup varieties so you know which syrup your palate likes! Jenna was super kind & accommodating with our shipping request. Small parking area, portable potty, & picnic table outside their shop. Thank you, Jacob & Jenna, for being so very gracious to tourists, and still working the farm & syrup product orders. Your hard work is evident!

Absolutely loved the free tour. We learned a lot from our guide, Jacob, who is enthusiastic and excited to teach about sugaring. Our group was really interested in the science behind sugaring and then we got to try the syrup. I obviously bought a whole bunch afterward for christmas gifts as well as for me and my husband. We enjoyed walking the grounds of some of the farm.

This was a perfect Vermont experience.. we learned do much. Jacob and Jenna were the perfect hosts and the tour took us from the trees and farm to their own production. Jacob was informative, he really knows his maple syrup and he was entertaining as well! The tour is free!! ( well maybe not: we bought a lot of syrup for gifts and their infused syrup is amazing! Thank you Jenna and Jacob for welcoming us Washingtonians:-) and our order was waiting for us when we arrived home two days ago!
