We did the loop and hiked signal mountain to manville and back on castle wren. I would say moderate to easy hike if you are a hiker. Highly recommend doing the full loop. The Saguaros are amazing! Massive ones along the trail with unique views of the entire park through the trail. The visitor center was quite packed when we arrived.

Great thing to do if is too hot outside because you get to stay in the AC of your car but still get a feel of what Saguaro National Park West (Tucson Mountain District) has to offer! It is a dirt road but is well maintained and I feel almost all, if not all, vehicles can make it. Definitely more Saguaro Cactus on this side versus the East (Rincon Mountain District).

Phenomenal way to get a taste of Saguaro National Park without needing to step foot outside your vehicle!

Beautiful loop drive on dirt road. The drive to here is beautiful already. Never seen so many cactus. Visit the visitors center, very nice views and small nature garden to enjoy the cactus.

Very nice drive and places to get out, stretch, hike or whatever. about half way along the one way are a desert-green Mercedes SUV with PA license plates was riding our bumper then made a bad pass, narrowly missing our car. White older lady, blonde had, German Shepherd in the back. Whacko. Unusual.

This road is gravel/ dirt but is passable by any vehicle and is well maintained by the parks service. We found the saguaro on this side of the park to be more densely packed and the crowds less than the east side. Maybe the dirt road scares some visitors off, but don't let it dissuade you!

This park is not too far out of Tucson, but it does not feel like you are near the city. It's not only the saguaro cactus, but the mountains in the background that make the park beautiful. Most of the sights can be seen from the road, so you can still see a lot even if you don't have much time and/or don't want to hike.

Nice one way loop. It is not paved but any car should be fine in the current road condition. Go slow, stop to stretch the legs and enjoy the views. This is in the NP fee area.
