A very disappointing Customer Service experience for a long time supporter of Bakening.
First, Bakening could not deliver on the date and time I had booked. They WhatsApp-ed me only on the day before to ask if they could deliver on an alternative date because “(they are) sorry for the sudden notice as (they) won’t have any drivers tomorrow.” Yet between 12.06pm to 4.14pm, they could not give me a definitive response whether they could deliver on the proposed alternative date or to the direct home location where my friend’s party will be. I had to send a reminder to check if the delivery was still happening because if it was not, I need to make alternative arrangements to order other food for my friend’s party. At 4.49pm, they finally responded with “Hi, we're still checking this.
But if I may ask, would it be okay if we do express delivery for you tomorrow or on Saturday morning. There will be $15 fee since we will be getting a dedicated driver from a different courier.” I questioned why I should be paying extra for delivery when this need for a delivery change was initiated and caused by their own limited logistical organization. I said I would rather have a full refund than pay extra for a delivery that I did not ask for. No confirmation of my order or whether they will be charging me for delivery until 9.37pm that evening.
Next, delayed delivery. They were supposed to deliver the muffins this morning at 9am as they had promised but the delivery only arrived at 9.48am.
The muffins arrived in a terrible looking state. All 12 muffins were overturned and smashed up against each other in the box. Which was a real embarrassment for my friend to receive this as a gift at her party.
Finally, the taste - the standards seem to have dropped too. The muffins were wet and soggy.
Sent Bakening a message with a picture of the delivery and expressed my disappointment. No compensation for all the inconvenience and unhappiness. No response either.
