My wife and I just returned from a trip to Nova Scotia where we spent 3 of our days at the Baker's Chest B&B in Truro, NS. This is a great B&B in a quiet area! Beautiful gardens add to the pleasant ambience. Very comfortable rooms, spotless, with all the amenities. Glenda is a great hostess and her breakfasts are excellent (ask for a Poffertjes [Dutch pancake])! It is close to a number of natural wonders and points of interest. When we get back to Nova Scotia, we will definitely stay at this B&B again. It was special!

I had the best breakfast of my entire life here! Yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and freshly baked blueberry banana bread to start, followed by the fluffiest and most spectacular eggs florentine on the planet. I would come back just for the breakfast - which was restaurant-quality! Our hosts were super friendly and flexible about our check-in time, though standard check-out is 10:30am at the latest. We had a beautiful and spacious room with lots of amenities and tasteful vintage and home decor. Also lots of plugs which were much appreciated for charging! The ceilings in our room were slanted over one edge so we did hit our heads a few times (our fault!). All of the windows had blinds or a combination of blinds and curtains which was nice for allowing some breeze overnight but still keeping our privacy.

Great place with comfy, clean rooms. Bed is super cozy and bathroom has everything we needed (& more). A quiet location with an amazing yard. The breakfast was a lovely start to the day with amazing breakfast treats quickly served so we could catch our plane. This was appreciated in a town that wasn't awake early on a Sunday and no options for breakfast other than Timmy's. Thank you to the helpful, friendly hosts for a lovely stay in Nova Scotia.

We were in town for the weekend at a Curling Bonspiel and spent 3 glorious nights here. Can't say enough good things. Our hosts were wonderful, beds were very comfy and our 3 breakfasts were different each day and delicious, we couldn't have been more satisfied! If you're looking to stay in this lovely corner of NS I recommend you check out Baker's Chest B&B. You won't be sorry.

A lovely B&B with very friendly and welcoming hosts. Our room was very spacious, included a seating area and a very comfotable bed. Breakfast was delicious too. A great place to stay when exploring the Truro area of Nova Scotia.

Stayed in the spacious Karn room which has a separate sitting area. Loved our very comfortable room and clean bathroom. The grounds were beautiful and I wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night to take advantage of the hot tub. Glenda and Dan are great hosts and provided an excellent breakfast and advice on where to eat dinner and what sights to see. Highly recommend!

Group of 4 of us stayed here in mid October and couldn't have been happier. Immaculate home, most hospitable hosts and a superb breakfast! What more to ask for? The bedrooms were lovingly and tastefully decorated I might add. Would not hesitate to recommend Baker's Chest.

Yelp
I have stayed at a lot of B&Bs over my life (I'm CEO of a travel company) and can absolutely endorse Baker's Chest as a first rate establishment. Maarten and Nelly are outstanding hosts and make every effort to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. For example, upon discovering that I am of Dutch heritage (like they are), they modified the breakfast menu to include some favorite dutch pancakes. I was delighted! The property is beautiful and extremely well maintained. I loved the fact it was slightly out of town and provided an idyllic country setting. Driving into town for dinner and sightseeing took less than five minutes, so we got the best of both worlds. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was exquisite and we slept very well.

Yelp
I liked this place for starters, its neat as a pin, the hosts are terrific and the breakfast they have for you is perhaps the best B & B breakfast I've ever had. Truro is at best a stop over place and this B & B as good as any to do that as I found Truro as a location to be not so interesting. The location for those passing thru may not matter but its location is on the edge of Bible Hill and is literally surrounded by a farm field. My advice for someone booking a room here is to be aware the four rooms they offer are all configured differently so that might make a difference to someone booking here. The tea room was closed during our visit.

Yelp
My first experience at a BnB was delightful. Our room was spotless with a spacious ensuite bathroom. The rooms were cleaned daily with daily towel changes and clean sheets every other day. I'm not even that tidy at home. One highlight of our stay was meeting and getting to know Nelly and Maarten. They are truly wonderful hosts. We regularly asked them for recommendations -both sights and restaurants. The other highlight was the really special breakfast each morning. Nelly cooks first class, made to order crepes, eggs, omlets with cheeses and fresh fruit. Maarten bakes the breads, and we each had a different favorite! With only four rooms you will have to call the owners early to reserve a room. Call direct and bypass Bookings!

Yelp
I'll admit, having never been to a Bed & Breakfast prior to this trip, I thought B&Bs were old, haunted houses where the ghosts of creepy children beckoned you from the basement (think: American Horror Story, Season 1). Baker's Chest more than quelled my fears. Baker's Chest is just lovely - my favourite stay during our recent trip to the Canadian Atlantic. I can't say enough good things about Maarten & Nelly. Just really friendly and nice hosts that make you feel truly welcome...even when we arrived at 11:30pm (things on the east coast are much further apart than we thought)! The home is very clean and tidy, without a speck of dust to be found in our room. The bathroom, an ensuite within the Mason & Hamlin room, was equally spotless. Nelly prepared a very thoughtful homemade breakfast. Starting with a warm apple crumble and followed by a fresh fruit crepe, along with a cheery explanation that many travellers grow tired of the typical bacon & eggs while travelling every day and lighter fare like crepes tend to be welcome. Though I'm still far from disliking bacon, the crepe really was delicious and well made. Both Maarten & Nelly were also very helpful with providing information and brochures for all their guests who were heading out nearby for the day. I'd have no hesitation to come again on our next visit to the Canadian Maritimes!
