Omelet was yummmo! Definitely found my go to for breakfast in New Bern. Bakery upstairs. I wasn't sure where to go for a good bacon ham sausage Omelet in town but yes I sure found it. Would be 5 stars but they aren't servicing FRESH juice which for me is a staple to an amazing breakfast 🙂

What a great place very at home feeling I had yummy meatloaf with smashed potatoes and stewed corn. Wife enjoyed chicken with green beans and homemade chips. Both meals only $12 each. Waiter Eric nice young guy with great service.

Baker’s Kitchen was recommended to me by a technician from New Bern who came to my home to provide an estimate, and I am so glad I took his advice! I visited on Saturday, not realizing it was Valentine’s Day—or that I would also be treated to an unexpected bonus: the Mardi Gras parade! While waiting for our table, we had front-row access to the festivities, music, and celebration. I even caught some beads, which made the experience that much more fun. Our wait wasn’t bad at all, especially considering the holiday and the parade. It was clear this is a go-to breakfast spot for many people. I was encouraged to try the Dutch potatoes. I’ll admit, I was hesitant because I had never had them before, but when I asked our waitress about them, she absolutely gushed about how phenomenal they were—and she was right! I ordered the Hungry Farmer, which was also recommended, and it did not disappoint. The French toast was made from fresh bread baked that morning, and it was incredible. I also tried their new apple butter syrup, which was absolutely delicious and such a unique touch. The food was excellent, and the service was superb. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they serve. And let’s talk about the baked goods! Since it was Valentine’s Day, they had heart-shaped treats, and of course I had to get some of everything. The cookies were fantastic. I didn’t try the cinnamon roll this time (I had already gone a little overboard with goodies), but I will absolutely be back for it. They had started transitioning to lunch while we were there, and if lunch is anything like breakfast, I know it will be just as amazing. This will definitely be one of my go-to spots, and I’m already looking forward to bringing my family here. Highly recommend!

Great experience at Bakers Kitchen. We were driving through New Bern from the beach when my spouse suggested we eat here. I pulled up the website and was able to add my name to the waitlist. I then received updates for when our table was ready. We easily found a parking spot near the restaurant and checked in at the front desk. My spouse purchased a Nutella cinnamon roll (not photoed) from the front. The staff member was kind and told him how to heat it up at home. It was delicious. Our waitress was super friendly. She came to our clean table quickly and we had a nice conversation. My husband wasn't sure what kind of potatoes he wanted so she told him if he didn't like his choice she'd bring him something else. Husband ordered the hunger farmer. He loved everything except the Dutch potatoes. They were lacking in flavor. My child ordered an egg, bacon, and toast. She ate it all. Our waitress made sure she had plenty of butter and jam. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a Belgian waffle (which my child ate all of. Everything was super good. My picky child asked to go back again soon so I say it's a win!

I got avocado toast with grits. GRITS WERE GREAT, creamy delicious. Toast was good egg whites were COLD. Hubby got suburban. He enjoyed it, great biscuit. Problem was the honey butter they are known for. It was so watered down its not worth getting. Sad cuz that's why we went to BAKER'S KITCHEN. 😔

Had the best hamburger steak I’ve probably ever had today! It was seasoned perfectly and the onions, mushrooms and brown gravy were delicious! The sweet potato casserole was good as well. The Mac and cheese was fine, but I prefer mine baked. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal.

We had a wonderful experience at Baker’s Kitchen. The service was friendly and attentive, and the menu offered plenty of delicious options to choose from. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. The highlight was definitely the fluffy French toast with butter syrup: absolutely amazing and worth the visit on its own! A great spot for breakfast or brunch in New Bern. Highly recommend!

Don't expect quiet, the place is always packed & for good reason. Friendly staff, super home style cooking, and coffee to die for. We had the most amazing breakfast this morning (see pics). Be sure to order the Dutch potatoes, they're a fabulous Julianne potato casserole!

I had an appalling experience at this restaurant and strongly advise others, particularly Black patrons, to think twice before dining here. The lack of professionalism and blatant disregard for equitable service was astonishing. My boyfriend and I watched as multiple parties, including a large family who arrived simultaneously, were served and completed their meals before we even received half of our order. Our server, BECCA, displayed clear negligence--failing to provide me with silverware after I returned from the restroom while ensuring my boyfriend had his, and making no effort to check on us throughout the meal. To add to the insult, both the server and manager stood at the kitchen entrance openly staring at our table, creating an atmosphere of discomfort and unwelcome scrutiny. When my food did arrive, it was incorrect--I was served one blueberry pancake and one plain when I had clearly ordered blueberry pancakes. By the time the correct item was brought--15 minutes later--I had already eaten half of the meal and had to request the replacement in a to-go container. Finally, paying the bill was another ordeal, as BECCA disappeared, leaving my boyfriend to approach the front just to settle the check. The only highlight of this experience was the cheesy grits, which were admittedly delicious, but not nearly enough to make up for the unprofessionalism, disregard, and overall negative treatment. We did not leave a tip, and we will absolutely never return. No one deserves to feel dismissed and disrespected while spending their hard-earned money on a meal. I REPEAT DO NOT DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!

I returned to Baker's Kitchen again for breakfast. I ordered the same thing again but with home fries this time. I ended up not being very hungry so asked for a to-go box. I don't like the butter syrup but someone at another table was offered regular syrup. This time I was seated in the middle of the restaurant so everyone walked past me to get to their table. The restaurant had plenty of open tables so I'm not sure why I got the bad location. My waitress had a large table so was mostly occupied with that table and disappeared for a long while when I was trying to pay. I even tried to pay at the register as I couldn't remember if you paid at the table or at the register. They wouldn't let me pay there. Better service would have improved the visit but I don't see myself returning.

I met my friend here for breakfast when there was some sort of event going on in downtown New Bern. It was busy all around and they had a short wait for our table. The plan was to "eat healthy" and that went sideways when my brain was overruled by "chicken fried steak and eggs." A nice large piece of flattened chicken breast with plenty of gravy served with two eggs and a piece of toast. Along the way, plenty of coffee. My friend and I spent more than two hours here chatting and drinking way too much coffee. Our waiter was cool about it - there wasn't anyone waiting for a table at this point. Ambiance great, service great I Used to love breakfast here. It was good, quality food. It would seem that food quality has been sacrificed to keep prices low. The effort is appreciated but a poor choice (if true). Sausage tasted more like black bean and sawdust, Dutch potatoes used a lousy canned cheese, bread was substandard on French toast. Serve smaller quantities or raise prices, or both. Never sacrifice quality

Beautiful inside and out such a cool building. The food is fabulous and the service was great!!

Oh my.....where is the 10 star option?? This place is the best breakfast on the east coast...strong statement but Im sticking to it. Everything was perfect with impecible service. The butter syrup has neither butter or syrup but will leave you with a dopamine rush that will last the entire day. Its that amazing so be sure to get a jar to go. The chicken and waffles were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Freshly breaded chicken with an incredibly delicious coating pared with a crisp, light, and fluffy waffel covered in butter syrup. It fed two people with left overs. 10/10 reccomend!! The potato casserol was bomb and that is another "dont miss." Finally, warm fresh cinnamon rolls as big as a toddlers head. Delicious and no picture as my crew made very very short work of it. This spot is a must when coming to New Bern.

the shrink economy is here, sausage and pancakes shrunk since our last visit. sausage was well, well done, almost microwaved. our very attentive servor made up for any negative items, and please reverse that egg surcharge, your prices and serving size are enuf

Bakers kitchen is just as amazing as I remember it. We were stationed at Cherry Point over 4 years ago and just got back and the first place we wanted to go for breakfast was here. It was delicious. The Dutch potatoes are to die for and the French toast was amazing. Our waitress took great care of us and even though the waitlist was long when we got there it moved quickly. Can't wait to go back.

My first breakfast in New Bern is a memorable one. From the country fried chicken to the eggs with cheese, to the biscuit, and to the grits, everything was exceptional. The service was incredibly friendly and we felt at home. I could get used to this.

Great good, ambiance and service as always! I had the Farmers breakfast. French toast was good but way too much whipped cream. Butter syrup is good and the restaurant itself is historic. It's a wait but you can get in line on line.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at for breakfast but I don't understand why the waitlist has to be closed down when people drive 20-30 minutes to get there

Always a beloved breakfast stop when we are in New Bern. We've never made a trip and not visited the Baker's kitchen. I love the atmosphere, the food and they have extremely fast service. You can join the waitlist on yelp to get in line. I highly recommend doing this on weekends. The Dutch potato's are a must! You won't regret ordering them!

I stopped here for lunch after flying into New Bern on a Thursday afternoon. There was about a 5 minute wait for a table for one and based on what I've read, waiting here is not unusual. I was seated and quickly greeted by a friendly waitress who took my order. I opted for the meatlovers omelet with wheat toast and because I was eyeing up the food of the customer next to me, a side of sweet potato fries. The omelet was delicious! Very thin egg layers which was actually nice and super heavy on the meat which was OK by me! The fries were so so good, especially with the butter syrup to dip them in. My only slight complaint was the toast was under toasted and needed more butter. But that wasn't enough to dock a star from this meal. The prices were reasonable, the service was spot on, the place was clean, and everyone was friendly. If you are looking for a local family friendly location to eat between 7-2, this is it!

Food is always amazing!! Great Service is a pleasant surprise considering how busy they are. Staff goes above and beyond to keep their customers happy. I will always eat at Baker's kitchen when I'm in New Bern!!

Great little shot for bfast and lunch. Breakfast is served all day. They do close at 2pm and are closed on Tuesdays. They do not show substitutions on the menu and don't allow you to mix breakfast and lunch (I tried getting a lunch entree with breakfast sides)

Best home cooked meals. The breakfast menu is famous. Very reasonable pricing. Good place to take a large family.

Service and staff was super friendly but the food was just average. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the baked chicken dish with fried okra(hard to mess those up) and squash casserole. Didn't give much gravy with the CFS so we asked for more. Got charged $3. That's fine for extra, but there was almost none on the steak.

On a wonderful trip to New Bern the most disappointing thing was Sunday breakfast at Baker's Kitchen. My wife and I waited 35 minutes to be seated at a small bright table. Very clean. Our server came over quickly and brought us coffee which was good. Downhill from here. Our breakfast was delivered cold, both orders! I hate cold food. 2nd time up it was much warmer but not hot. OK we ate. The food was bland. The Dutch Potatoes were nothing more than cheesy hash browns, the butter syrup is butter with sugar. Too sweet. The sausage patties made me quite sick having to make it back to our air b&b double time. I'm so sorry we ever ate there and will never, ever do so again.

Good food and great service. I had taken a client there who was new to Bakers and he enjoyed himself as well.

We went here for brunch with our family from out of town. Our waiter, Tim, was amazing and hilarious. Definitely keep him around. The food was spectacular and the restaurant itself is adorable. We will be back!

Baker's Kitchen is very overrated in my opinion. This is the normal bacon and eggs diner, no longer the earlier Baker's that was owned by Minnonites, featuring wonderful homemade breads and pastries.

This is the absolute perfect place to dine for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a way early dinner! The staff is awesome & the food is fantastic! The atmosphere is definitely cozy & family friendly! The wait can sometimes be a bit, but it is so worth it!

Food was awesome!! Our server was kind, funny & super helpful! I got the chicken and waffles and my husband got The Suburban. Yummy You gotta stop and check them out. Such a sweet town. The scenery is gorgeous

This is a wonderful, cute little bakery/kitchen for brunch. My wife and I went when we were in town for the holidays. Their muffin variety is large and delicious. They also have fruit cups and gluten-free options as well. The service is also fast, but if you don't RSVP, you may not get a seat. Overall, I recommend.

Great food, friendly service, and butter syrup! That's what this place serves up! Go here even if you have to wait it was worth it to us. You had me at butter syrup. I have never had it before today, but I'll be going back for more! We were lucky enough to sit on the second floor, and we do admire old buildings. Well, this one did not disappoint. The roof and the flooring with the exposed walls are very, very nice!

My wife and I came here for breakfast while in town for a wedding. We used the yelp waitlist app to get checked in. In total, the wait was about 20 minutes and during that time we walked around town. For food I ordered the chicken and waffles. It came with their signature maple butter syrup. The food was very good! Why this is a 5 star for me is that the meal was very tasty, the chicken to waffle ratio was perfect, the uniqueness of the syrup was new and worked really well, and the quantity was very filling for the price. Would highly recommend this place. It was very busy inside but the staff was extremely effecient.

Definitely a good place to head for breakfast or brunch. Not the best breakfast, seems sort of average, but it's still very good and I like the atmosphere. Hung around for a bit after finishing our food and the waitress seemed to be a little annoyed (understandable but yet again not). It's a solid 7.8/10 and I would recommend the chicken and waffles. Their butter-syrup-sauce is addictive.

If you love fried food, then this is your place. The food is decent, but most of it does come out of a fryer. Next time, I'll wait until 11:00am when there's more restaurants open.

We tried Baker's Kitchen on a Friday morning in October. My meal was a resounding..."OK" at best. I tried the biscuits and gravy and was rewarded with 2 biscuits that were dry, tough, and chewy; it would not be surprisingly to learn they were the previous day's leftovers. The gravy was just OK too and really lacked much flavor. I've had better versions of this dish at Bojangles. I ordered a side of the dutch potatoes and found them fantastic. They were the highlight of my meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Our server seemed to handle the entire second floor of the restaurant by herself. That was impressive. Speaking of the second floor, it was so cold it was difficult to concentrate on anything else. I'm not sure if the air conditioner was turned down too low or it was very cold from the age of the structure.

Was in New Bern recently and looked up breakfast places on Yelp, yes I use Yelp when visiting new places, and came across Baker's Kitchen. It is located in the historic area a couple blocks up from the waterfront. We were able to park a couple of stores down on the street for free and I went in to get some baked goods for the ride home. It was just past 2:00 and they close at 2, but were happy to let me get some to go things. Now it is not often that I see something new at a bakery and yet it happened here, a cornbread cookie. Never seen one never heard of one before so I had to get one and both the Mrs. and myself were happy I did. Delicious as well as the other things we bought. Great baked goods seem harder and harder to find as time goes on but not here. Enjoy

Brunch date wait list time made worthwhile by exceptional meal with accommodating customer service. No pics of food but our cinnamon rolls to go were delish once we got home. Upstairs has the best vibe and that day the best waitress Amy. We'll be back.

Visited on a Saturday morning and after a quick wait, we had the most delicious breakfast. I can vouch for the pecan pancakes with butter syrup. We made sure to visit again the next day before we left town. My order was slightly wrong but our waitress was quick to get it taken care of. I highly recommend giving this place a try when you're in New Bern. * I would recommend moving the host stand closer to the front door. Wait staff and customers gathering around the stairs is an accident waiting to happen.

A great spot in New Bern for breakfast or lunch! I arrived very close to closing time at 2pm, they were no longer taking any table parties. I ordered to go, then I mentioned I was an hour from where I'd end up eating. They quickly offered a table and I was able to eat my fresh delicious meal. I had the southern hamburger plate. Great flavor and perfectly prepared. Also had a side of okra. Piping hot and delicious. The server was attentive and kind. Very clean and neatly kept dining area. Will return with friends! Cant wait to try the breakfast. I grabbed a red velvet Oreo pastry to go. Again delicious!
