Pretty bummed out about our last order. It was my birthday Oct 1st and I wasn't sure what kind of cake/dessert I wanted, so my husband went to Bakers Pride to get an assortment of things - cupcakes, cookies, cannoli's, cheesecake, and a few other things. I was so excited to taste a little bit of everything since we normally just get donuts.
I took my first bite into a cupcake and an unusual soapy taste hit my tongue. I thought I was losing it and maybe had to recalibrate my taste buds or something, so I tried one of the cheesecake bites. It also had an almost windex-y, soapy taste. I then ask my husband if he was also picking up any weird flavors and he agreed. The bright side is that the donuts, which are my absolute favorite, were still phenomenal and didn't have any weird flavor, thank god!!
He pieced together that most of the things he ordered were from the top shelf of the case, so maybe someone had just cleaned and some of the mist from the cleaner spray got on the food, because it was several different items that had that taste. We tried to salvage what we could by scraping off the top until hopefully the taste was gone, so basically only eating half of the items. Normally, we quickly devour any yummy treat that comes into our house, so this is the longest we've had desserts around - once you get that soap taste in your mouth, it ruins the flavor of everything for a while.
I don't think I'll be going back for another treat anytime soon.
