I went here for a high-tea yesterday. We had plates with pieces of pies, some scones (hardest scones I've ever seen but were delicious), fresh delicious juice, and soup. In the end you could choose a drink like beer or wine.
I thought it was he weirdest thing to have soup during high-tea AND beer/wine. Other tables did have the three level serving thingy that normally comes during high-tea, with plates with finger sandwiches, finger food, and sweets. But what we had wasn't very "traditional".
The pies were very good, they all tasted good. I tried the cheesecake and it was just like a cheesecake is supposed to be, a bit moist, you could taste the lemon slightly, and it was a bit fluffy.
They also served fresh jams and whipped cream. The soup was a bean soup with bell peppers, and tasted delicious, although it felt weird to have it together with all the sweets.
Although the whole combination seemed quite weird to me (not what I'm used to having during high-tea) it was all delicious and spiced things up! I highly recommend their teas (they use tea from mr. Jones and I really like it) but don't expect loose tea or anything though.
The decor is very rustic + Victorian. I don't know how they did it but it worked out great! They have a second floor so there is plenty of space for big groups.
They have a great location in the west, and there is parking nearby. (Remember you cannot park across the bridge next to it) I had a great experience, service was great! Great ambiance music (classical and other mixes) too.
I have to give it four stars because of the scones and some other details, but hey, I'm very committed to the traditional way of "high-teaing" haha
They have high quality sweets, tea, and food! Try their location in the center and the pickup location they have.
