This restaurant is AMAZING! We were in a time crunch to make it to a show after dinner, so we let our waitress know ahead of time. She explained the menu and took our order very quickly and efficiently. We were so surprised by how quickly all of our food came out. Not only was it fast, all of the food was absolutely heavenly, some of the best I’ve had in Paris. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is very chic - cool music, lighting, and staff.

Me and my wife went to Paris on our honeymoon. We ended up having dinner here and it was absolutely amazing. It was a blast. The setting of the this restaurant was so much fun. We had a great night. Literally all the food on the menu was amazing. Unfortunately, it seems they have closed which is a real shame because they were amazing.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants in Paris by far! Food is to die for, service is exceptional and the atmosphere is amazing. We sat on the balcony in front of the kitchen, best place if you are a couple! We started with a fish tartar, white truffle polenta and beef tataki which were absolutely amazing. We had bread and a good white wine. After that we got the lamb chops, I was shocked with the flavors, you must try them! All of the food is absolutely heavenly, we will come back for sure!!

Google
Israel’s atmosphere in Paris! Top quality food, great service, high level wines and cocktails. Thank you Balagan for the experience: from the starters until the dessert, every dish was a mix of tasty flavors. We will come back!

Google
This place is sooo delicious!! Seriously everything from the breads, the dips, eggplants & salads!! (Vegetarian here) I can’t believe how delicious it was. Also the wait staff was incredibly friendly! In the back of the restaurant there was a bar playing lively music and had a fun crowd. After we ate we grabbed a drink at the bar. I enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend this bar!

Google
One of my absolute favourite restaurants in Paris by far, this Israeli inspired restaurant is absolutely delicious. I would recommend every single dish on the menu as well as sitting at the bar! It's Dinner and a show with the best service!

Google
We went there for our honeymoon and had the most amazing night in Paris!! The bar was extremely fun with great bartenders and the food was also tasty. I will definitely go back to Balagan in my next trip.

Google
It’s probable one of the best restaurants in paris. The energy is contagious and food is simply excellent. I sat on the balcony, in front of the kitchen. Best place. You can watch and participate in the process of your satisfaction. I’m in love with Kimberley

Yelp
If you're ever making a trip to Paris, my wife (Sonia) and I highly suggest you go to this restaurant!!! They deserve all the accolades they can get, please don't ever change! My wife and I took a trip to Barcelona and Paris on a Thanksgiving holiday over eight days and our last night's dinner was at Bagalan. There was truly nothing that could have been improved upon! Our only wish is that this review could post on all review platforms simultaneously:-) The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic and the clientele was obviously full discerning diners with a casual but upscale bent. Dianne was our combination sous chef and server at the bar/counter (this is the way to go)! She was talented, both in her obvious skills as a chef, but also with her attentiveness as a server. She was an excellent multitasker, young, attractive, fun and asked us just enough questions to ascertain exactly what we would enjoy from their diverse and sophisticated Mediterranean menu. She was an impressive representative amongst a group of obviously well-curated staff. The food was fantastic and represented well the ambitious chef de cuisine, whom we also met and found to be quite enthralling. Finally, the sommelier picked the perfect wine pairings to go with the meal. He was a true professional and described in detail the attributes of several options we might enjoy with our meal. We selected a bottle of amazing Burgundy at his prompting once he learned of our order that went ideally with the early courses, followed by a selection of fantastic wines that paired perfectly with our main course! If you find yourself in Paris (district 1), love great food and are open to a well-rounded dining experience, let the team at Bagalan lead you to an evening you'll not soon forget!

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. I stayed in the Renaissance hotel for a week and would walk by Balagan all the time- every single night it was packed and lively. It's a small restaurant but filled with character and a younger crowd. Come here for drinks and a late dinner with loud music but stay for the incredible Mediterranean fusion food. Start off with their bread, Kubane or Frevanon (brioche). The sea bass and polenta are must tries!

Yelp
All of my friends were praising this Israeli restaurant. But it is almost impossible to make a reservation. So we had to eat at the bar. Food is very good. Can't complain. My lamb chops were absolutely amazing. Downside - music is so loud so it makes any conversations impossible.

Yelp
This lively place near the Tuileries is a favorite spot of ours. You know you've found a good spot from the moment you step inside. The staff is immediately greeting you and making you feel comfortable. Once seated, the menu is presented and the fun begins. The only difficulty is making a decision, but your friendly server is there to help with that. We have enjoyed every meal at Balagan and look forward to returning on our next visit to Paris.

Yelp
Staff were enthusiastic. Restaurant was busy so we ate in the bar area. My husband enjoyed his meal. My dinner never showed up until he was all finished eating. We wanted a nice dinner experience for our first dinner in Paris. Others around got the same meal I did while I remained waiting - how odd. I didn't enjoy my meal as much. Not sure if it was the food or because I wasn't as happy as when I arrived. with all the places to choose to eat in Paris, I couldn't recommend here.

Yelp
I never go to Paris without going to Balagan at least once. The servers are friendly, accommodating around dietary restrictions and always super attentive (not an easy find in the EU). This Israeli inspired restaurant is on an unassuming quiet corner of Rue d'Alger & Rue de Mont-Thabor. Such a fun vibe with the most delicious dishes. Check out the back room for great music and a nightcap!

Yelp
Best meal in Paris! From start to finish, Balagan delivered. We had an amazing meal and experienced the utmost hospitality. Our server sat down to explain each and every dish at length. She took her time to get to know our tastes and made recommendations. We ended up selecting the set menu 24€/pp. Starter, bruschetta roast beef (4/5) thinly rare sliced roast beef on bread, bone marrow, and an amazing pickled vegetable (fennel?) Tahini bread (5/5) the bread was thin, crunchy and perfect for dipping into the creamy tahini sauce Main course, sea bass shashouka (5/5) spicy red pepper and onion sauce with perfectly cooked sea bass and boiled egg. Served in a pot and piping hot, this spicy dish was my favorite! Main course, Festif spring chicken (4/5) carrot purée, couscous, and smoky roasted chicken (perfectly cooked and juicy) with a grilled lime. I was expecting something slightly spicier but this was still a solid dish Dessert, tahini ice cream (4/5) this was more of a cold tahini butter rather than an ice cream. The sesame brittle, candied pine nuts, and kataifi added the necessary crunch to a very rich and thick dessert (that by the way, does not melt) Dessert, cheesecake (comped) (5/5) not like the traditional cheesecake. More of a thick creamy pudding with fruit purée and crumble at the bottom. Whatever it was, my husband inhaled it! Lunchtime at Balagan is leisurely and easy going. Dinner, I hear, has a larger menu and is more like a club. An amazing restaurant with super reasonable prices! We will be back!

Yelp
I really enjoyed Balagan! The food was great and the service was pretty good as well! My friend and I tried to make reservations three days in advance and they were already totally booked and were only able to get us in at 10:30pm. Definitely a popular spot. Would recommend if you're in the mood to drink and party! The music is insanely loud and everyone was singing and dancing along. Fun vibes but definitely not for people wanting a casual dinner!

Yelp
I was here with a friend for my birthday dinner. Our hotel concierge helped us get reservations the day off at the bar. However, once we reached the restaurant they were super accommodating and gave us the table. I cannot say enough about how good the service was - right from the checking in, wait staff and the wine sommelier, everyone was excellent. We got the bread and dip (delicious), sea bass for the main course and finally the surprise dessert which was the Jerusalem cheesecake (I would never have chosen this dessert off the menu, but it was beyond delicious.) I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Excellent! Loved all of the fresh food! of one the most tasty and unique meals we had in Paris.

Yelp
I loved this place!! It's an Israeli restaurant with amazing food, cocktails, and vibe. They play loud Israeli music and it's really fun. Must: tuna tartar, polenta, sirloin. We thought the eggplant, fattoush, and Iraqi tataki were good as well. I got the Le Persifleur cocktail and loved it. We ended up sitting in front of the chef and he sent us some complimentary food and shots. You must have a reservation here. If you want a lively fun place you have to come here plus the food is amazing!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Folks.. I'm telling you.. if you go in early before it turns into a mini discotheque you will have a great time. I've been too several restaurants in the area and if you want different you will get it here - the drinks, food and attitude is fun and well done.
google avatar

Liora S.

Yelp
Adele, Tim, and Sameer are legends. Yoav is ok too. The staff was amazing and took good care of us. Food also happens to be amazing but you go there for a one-of-a-kind, Paris-Israeli experience.

Diana P.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! If you enjoy middle eastern food this place is your Heaven! This restaurant is very trendy, the kind that French locals visit, very original, fun and quite delicious. Probably the best middle eastern food I have ever tried. The Fattoush salad was perfection- again the best restaurant salad I've ever had. Not to miss! The Seabass is phenomenal! Went for lunch and will be back for dinner and probably lunch again! It's that good! Chef David makes for a fun and spontaneous vibe if you are sitting at the bar. My favorite in Paris

Yelp
We wandered in and sat at the bar. Got incredible service. Loved the vibe. The food was incredible and reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant. In particular the bread and the polenta were super yummy. I'm only in Paris for a few days but may need to go back.

Yelp
Great choice for dinner in Paris if you want something different. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff who are very friendly and add to the experience! They offer many vegetarian/pescatarian dishes to choose from which was wonderful as there were a handful of restaurants who barely had anything without meat. The place is tight so be prepared to be seated closely. The bar is a great option too especially if they are busy or you don't have reservations.

Yelp
Wowzer. This place was awesome. We happened to get a couple of seats at the chef's bar and it was fantastic. The ambience is extremely lively and fun, and the food tasted fantastic. Everything we tried was excellent. The chef had great recommendations and we went with pretty much all of them. They have a lot of specials every night so be sure to inquire. I did not dislike any dish that we ordered. I would definitely return. What a find!!

Yelp
Awesome restaurant, total mix of cultures, very nice staff, great food and superb atmosphere I highly recommend the Octopus and the short ribs ( Princesse Jasmine ). The sneakers desert is totally decadent Keep up the great work !!

Yelp
Must visit while visiting Paris. Amazing food Great Breakfast, and Diner The octopos was Great and my wife had a steak which was amazing.
google avatar

Jules H.

Yelp
It is 30 euros for the breakfast buffet, if not already included in your stay at the Renaissance. You also have an option to do a la carte, if preferred. Overall, it was a disappointment and not worth the visit. It does not help that the employees do not know how to provide good service. Just go out and find another bakery - there are plenty of good options nearby.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with my partner and we had an incredible time, despite a few hiccups with the service. The evening started off on a weird note - it took quite a while for anyone to notice and seat us, despite having a reservation. It seemed the hosts were a bit disorganized and distracted when we arrived. We were finally seated at two seats at the bar, overlooking the open kitchen. We were welcomed by one of the chefs, and had some time to look over the menu and cocktail list. Again, it took us a while to flag down one of the waitstaff to take our cocktail orders, and it took quite a while for them to arrive. My drink was ok, while my partner really enjoyed his. As we were sitting by the kitchen, we asked the chef nearest us for his advice on what to order (I actually asked him to decide for me as I had no idea what to take). I'm a vegetarian who doesn't really like eggplant, but he convinced me to order the smoked eggplant starter followed by the gyoza in broth for my main course. My partner had fish. I was so happy that I took the chef's recommendation, because both starter and main were delicious. We also took a couple of their homemade breads and dips to start, which were amazing. Neither of us were hungry for dessert, but we took the crashed snickers, which is literally "crashed" tableside. It was too rich for me with the dark chocolate sauce, but I enjoyed the parts that weren't too chocolatey. While some of the service was weird, and I didn't love the cocktails, overall this dinner was amazing. The quality of the food, the helpfulness of the chef, and the ambiance of the restaurant (it's very loud and busy -true to its name) made for a really fun, memorable evening and more than made up for the frosty reception.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Awful restaurant and not great food. Surprised that it's a Michelin star restaurant. Spend your money on other great restaurants in Paris.

Yelp
Amazing food and more amazing service! Very creative Israeli and middle eastern food. Small charming space with great music. Must try

Yelp
What to eat: deconstructed kebab!!! But everything was sooo good. My favorite meal of a 2 week trip to Italy and Paris! This place is a loud, party atmosphere, so it is a super fun spot to grab dinner. Our reservation was at 10:30pm and it was not very crowded when we arrived, but it was poppin' when we left a little after midnight. We enjoyed sitting at the counter because the cook was very interactive and gave us extra treats Every dish we ordered was delicious and unique, from the chicken livers to the salads to the deconsteucted kebab. This place has an interesting take on this food genre. This place is a must if you are in Paris!

Yelp
I went to Paris with my husband for our anniversary. We chose to go to Balagan for a casual dinner, but now I wish this is where we celebrated our anniversary dinner! The decor was stunning, food was tasty, and sitting at the chef's counter was so much fun. The chef would sing as he cooked, feed us little experiments he was making in the kitchen and made a special dessert for us at the end. You must go here if you are in Paris.

Susie S.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant on Sunday night and it was full so reservations are essential.  It is an Israeli French menu. The wait staff was very friendly. Our party of 2 enjoyed the special bread with dips. The polenta starter was good and so was my fish entree but I wish the waiter would have told me that both were very rich and creamy. The scallops were very good but again quite rich. Unfortunately the menu did not provide descriptions that would indicate the richness of the sauces. We would recommend this restaurant as a fun place to visit for something different in Paris.
google avatar

Elina K.

Yelp
This place is amazing in every way. Service is phenomenal. Food is authentic and made from the highest quality ingredients. Drinks are natural and incredible. Amazing vibe (good upbeat music playing in the background), food, staff and drinks. It was definitely a highlight during the recent trip to Paris. Reservations must be made. This is also a great place for just a drink at the bar.

Yelp
AMAZING! Incredible food, cocktails, and music. Exceptional service!!!!! My husband and I sat at the bar "chef's table" and Samir and his team were absolutely amazing! One of he best restaurants we have ever been too! Unbelievable experience! Thank you Balagan team
google avatar

Rebecca Z.

Yelp
This place is amazing in every way. The food, the ambiance, the waiters, etc. The music is very fun and lively and even the chefs dance while making your food. The food is fresh and tasty. I highly recommend getting your reservation weeks in advance.
google avatar

Rinat L.

Yelp
An amazing and unforgettable experience!!! Superb atmosphere (the Happy Birthday celebration by the wait staff at a nearby table was by far the best I've seen). And each of the dishes we had was PERFECT both in taste and the presentation as Chef Dan attends to each plate... we had the pleasure of sitting by the bar where we saw first hand how the team operates seamlessly. Can NOT wait till next time... wish you opened one in New York...
google avatar

Yelp
This is a must visit! Make a reservation! We were there on a rainy Monday night and the place was packed! Amazing cocktails. Innovative dishes that and middle eastern inspired. Fantastic flavors! Great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service. Chef Dan is from Machnehuda in Jerusalem (which was one of our top meals ever) and this is right up there with it! A don't miss.
google avatar

Ross R.

Yelp
Amazing! Sit at the counter for the full culinary show. We had only seafood, but the steaks (750 - 950) looked awesome. Kitchen crew regularly keys off music.
google avatar

Amir R.

Yelp
Are you kidding me???? We were in Paris for four days after a 14 day tour of Normandy, Brittany, Bordeaux, St-Emilion, Biarritz, San Sebastián, Axe En Provence and Avignon and we had dinner here two consecutive nights. We found this gem attached to our Renaissance in Vendom. Food was great energy great staff great. Sit at the bar if you can and join the kitchen staff having fruity shots. You have to try it if you're in Paris.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Probably our best meal in Paris and we have been 5 times so far. Many great vegetarian options as well as meat/seafood. Make a reservation well in advance, seems to fill up quickly.

Karen P.

Yelp
Chef's table! The most delicious food! We had a chef's tasting dinner and it was delicious. Fresh and full of flavor. Awesome staff- Chef Sarah was incredible... Drinks and wine were a perfect compliment. I can't wait to get back!!
google avatar

Leona B.

Yelp
Who would've thought that Paris has one of the best Israeli style restaurants?! If you are looking for great food and drinks but also a fun ambience, you must come to Balagan! Make sure to make reservations ahead of time as it books up quickly. We literally tried most of the menu and were delighted with all the choices (check out the pictures!). The T-Bone was a special and was perfectly prepared, the Sole was excellent but the zaatar gnocchi that came with the fish was to die for, the chicken liver was cooked with a hard boiled egg and onions and had the perfect balance... overall there is nothing on the menu that you would be disappointed about !

Barnes T.

Yelp
This is a complete unexpected sensation! I'm usually very conservative and boring in my selections...safe. LOL I fully trusted our fantastic servers recommendations and it was phenomenal! Every single item we got was fantastic and I was floored at how creative the combinations, presentations and flavors were. Even their sparkling wine is now one of my favorites. The enthusiasm and team work of everyone there makes for a very fun environment.
google avatar

Yelp
Very food Mediterranean Food, great for brunch, the chicken gyros isnexcellent, beef tataki is great and the seabass is excellent
google avatar

Lee W.

Yelp
What an incredible experience! The menu was most interesting and the flavors palate-blowing. The service is attentive without being stuffy or suffocating. The chefs work in full view and are delightfully accessible and personable -- and have a great time doing what they do so well! We ate there twice during our one- week stay because it was just amazing! Can't wait to go back when we are Paris again!
google avatar

Shaya A.

Yelp
Worst service ever we've booked our table a month ago and we've reached the restaurant 35 minutes late it wasn't our mistake Uber driver took the wrong direction ! As we are here in Paris for vacation the one who was at the front door mentioned that she can't take us & also there's no near tables to reserve it within the whole month ! So disappointed !!
google avatar

Limore S.

Yelp
Wow! Best meal ever! Please order the tuna starter and the linguine. You won't be sorry!
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant! We were seated at the chef's counter which lead to a great experience. The chefs were all so friendly and fun and every dish was amazing. We had the polenta, fatoush salad, steak tartare, salmon and sirloin. The polenta is a must! Great experience from start to finish. This might be my favorite restaurant in Paris! Just be careful with those absinthe shots they can sneak up on you. ;-)

Brian M.

Yelp
This meal was phenomenal! The appetizers were great, especially the meat. The bread and hummus was so good. There is a little bar connecting that was pumping hip hop. Loved it. Bartendar was so welcoming and made tremendous drinks. Great spot!!

B D.

Yelp
This place was connected to our hotel and the food was surprisingly delicious. The staff as well are delightful and they make you feel involved with the process and community. The environment is lively and at night it turns into quite the scene for delectable cocktails. The only reason I docked a star was for their desserts - did not much care for them.
google avatar

M G.

Yelp
Balagan was more than just a restaurant, it was an experience! The staff was super friendly and young. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs and were very welcoming and attentive. For us, the food was a delicious mediterranean break from heavy french cuisine. We got the bread and deconstructed kebab to start and enjoyed both. For entrees we got the seabass and lamb, both also incredible. Afterwards we had a few cocktails in their curtained off lounge area. It was a sunday night but still felt like a party in the lounge!
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Came here on a date night in Paris and it did not disappoint! The vibe is cool, it's in a beautiful upscale neighborhood in Paris (hello Balenciaga!) and it was a nice change from all of the French food we have been eating all week. We had the tartar, the chicken liver, the salmon, and the bread with dipping sauces. All delicious!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Having been to Israel and because this cuisine is one of my favorites, I was really hoping to like this place. However, it really let me down. To start, my wife and I were seated 30 minutes after our reserved time at 10:30, even though the restaurant had a few tables open. From there, we went unacknowledged for another 30 minutes while the tables next to us were served. Rude staff as well. When we said we wanted to be served or we'd have to leave, the guy shooed us out with his hand. Not appropriate hospitality for two people who just wanted to experience the food more than anything else. All said and done, this is more of a place "to be seen" vs. a place to go for good food. Seems more like a trendy restaurant that can't keep up than anything else. With so many good restaurants in Paris, I'd avoid.
google avatar

Melissa K.

Yelp
My favorite bar in Paris. Delicious, inventive food and cocktails give way to an electric vibe after 11. However, it's the highly skilled and gregarious mixologists (especially Nico) that make this place. Sit at the bar and enjoy the ride.
google avatar

Nini B.

Yelp
After too many subpar and overpriced brasseries in Paris, this was the very best way I could have ended my trip. Everything here is done with care, precision, and excellence-- the service, the decor, the vibe, the music. The cocktails are inspired and so well-made (I had a cocktail special with apricot liqueur, yogurt and za'atar, it was exceptional), the food is exciting, and the presentation is lovely. Our favorite was the tuna tartare with tomatoes but everything was delicious. Make sure to order one of the three house breads, a cocktail, and be glad this is how you are eating in Paris.
