The loveliest friendliest hotel we have ever been to.|Beautiful hotel, lovely food and brilliant value for money.||Id give the staff a 10 star if I could, they went above and beyond for us! Special recognition to David so friendly and a credit to the hotel😊 ||Unsure on their names but there was also another lovely man and woman who looked after us and ensured we booked for tea, we accidently fell asleep (after climbing ben nevis) and missed our reservation, they came and checked on us to make sure we diddnt starve the night.||Couldn't recommend this hotel enough. We will definitely return.

What a find! Fantastic small hotel whose staff could not do more to assist us on our stay. Dinner and breakfast thoroughly enjoyed as was our room - great shower too! Ideal base for a hill walking weekend. Hospitality at its best. Thank you all!

We stayed at the Balavil in April this year as we love visiting Scotland. The hotel is so warm and welcoming and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Our room was spotless and the beds are so comfortable! The nearby loch is beautiful, we spent every night on the benches feeding the ducks and their tiny chicks! Would recommend this hotel and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Last minute stop over on way further North. An excellent hotel. Staff could not have been nicer. Food was tremendous. I had sea food trio salad, which was lovely and IMO reasonable price. My soup as a starter was very homely. My partner is vegan this Hotel is on the ball as they had a menu for Vegan. She thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a few drinks in the bar. Plenty of whisky choices. Plenty of rum selections. Breakfast was basic but very good choice. In summary this was a great choice. We will 100% use again. Oh and newtonmore is a lovely stop over. Thanks for making us welcome and comfortable.

We looked at the menu when passing and thought “yeah, that’ll do”. When we got seated we were shown the Specials and went with them. Haggis Pakora! Sounds nuts ? OMG awesome ! Followed by Haddock and chips which I thought was a “safe bet”. Again awesome. There were two big fillets which I thought I’d never finish. But the batter was so light, and the fish cooked perfectly that it was an easy task. Mrs had the Chilli, which wouldn’t have been spicy enough for me. But such was the service I have no doubt they could have added more punch if asked. All round great meal in lovely decor. |Booking is advisable as they get coach parties staying at hotel and using the restaurant.

Have stayed at this hotel several times both by myself and with the family while visiting the area and highly recommend it. Rooms are clean, friendly service and amazing variety of food. Very friendly staff that are always welcoming.

Attended tonight and place is lovely. ||Sadly couldn’t eat as was advised residents only||I feel this should be highlighted as now in a position due to limited places around no where to eat other than a takeaway ||As much as I understand the concept if understaffed or whatever , when a business has a. Social media presence this could be updated when needed |Which there wasn’t any mention of .

Yelp
Our first stay in Scotland and it was fantastic! Mark served us at the bar for dinner and breakfast! Very friendly and gave us great tips on where to visit. The hotel is beautiful and cozy. Their bar had a large whiskey selection to choose from as well.

Yelp
Today, April 23rd, 2023, is my husband and my 47th anniversary. We stayed at this hotel and ate at the restaurant on our first visit to Scotland 6 years ago. We are grateful that we were able to be seated without a reservation and enjoyed the pleasant staff and the food was delicious.

Yelp
Village hotel with a cozy pub area that had a coal and wood burning stove to ward off the cold and damp. The staff was very friendly. My room was small and clean. I had a beautiful view of the mountains from my window. My dinner of Beef and Vegetable pie was delicious! Reasonable prices. ~ Newtonmore is a tiny Highland village in the Cairngorms National Park.

Yelp
The Balavil is a cute little Hotel in Newtonmore, located conveniently on the main road. A big parking space faces the hotel, so parking is easy and included. We drove to the north from Edinburgh and decided to find a place to stay in Newtonmore. All B&Bs from our AA's guide were either booked out or closed. It was a rainy late afternoon, and then we crossed the Balavil Hotel. We didn't plan to stay in hotels, but this one looked like a cute guest house. So we entered. The guy at the reception was uber friendly and really funny. Of course they had a room for us he said, and also one with two single beds. The rate: £35 per person, including breakfast. Awesome! The hotel is quite old, but it totally matches the cute town of Newtonmore. Staying in a fancy new hotel would have been weird. The room was nice and clean, and the beds comfy. There's a bar in the lobby with a local ale on tap and some other scottish beers, and obviously Guinness. They also serve food I believe, we dined out though. After dinner we had a couple of beers and it was really cosy. Breakfast is served in the spacious dining room next to the lobby. It's buffet style, toast and coffee is served by the waitress. The food was okay, nothing very special. The breakfast is probably the hotels weakest part, but it was fine. A big plus: free WiFi for all guests! I would stay again.
