One of the best parks that nature has to offer. DCNR made an amazing job on maintaining a clean park for human to use and sharing the space with other species. We stayed here in campground for 2 days over weekend. Our stay was pleasant , there are lot of things this park offers including a play area for kids , family friendly beaches , clean rooms , changing rooms with showers , lot of wonderfully located picnic spots with gazebo or shelters. Ample car parking on beaches. This area is mostly visited by boat owners to enjoy the lake here.

Bald Eagle State Park Howard ,Pennsylvania. I had no idea how beautiful north central Pennsylvania is ,it is amazing! Tennessee and Georgia state parks have the bar for state parks really high , but Pennsylvania has not disappointed ! This pet and big rig friendly park is a 5,900-acres park ,3 campgrounds and a 1,730 acre lake. There’s plenty to do. Swimming,Boating, fishing ,camping, volleyball with Miles and miles of hiking and biking paths too but our favorite is…. Non activity… just chilling A swimming beach, with showers and changing rooms and picnic shelters for the family outing A huge marina with 3 different boat launches in different areas A new State park inn ,cabins and yurts. We are in the Sycamore loop site # 73 this and most of the Oak loop are 30 amp power only with water faucets spread throughout the loops we were lucky the water faucet was right across the road to fill our freshwater tank. There are two dump stations a recycling and dumpster for garbage All roads are newer paved as are the site pads are paved too. The newer loop white pine are All full hookups & about 15 sites in oak are too, all have clean modern bathhouses

Beautiful, clean, and family friendly park. We stayed on pet friendly Sycamore Loop which had 50 amp electric and no water or sewer. According to the map, looks like most RV sites had 30 amp no sewer or water but there were a few that were full hookups. All the rv sites were paved as were the roads. The trash center had plenty of dumpsters and impressive recycling options, which seems rare. The RV dump station was convenient and well organized and included a potable water pump (for non-campers it was $10 residents and $11 nonresidents). Be sure to pick up a Bald Eagle Recreational Guide as it gives the park history but also lists 50 living things to identify. There was a big beach with a concession stand, some trees for shade, and a roped off area for kids to play. It has a marina with boats and bikes to rent. I should mention the Sycamore loop outside the bathroom has a sink big enough to wash a dog in along with a foot pedal for hands free operation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Google
Beautiful scenic views, large sites (Sycamore). Up in the other loops, there are full hookup sites, and pull through sites. Fire rings double as grills and are large. If you like rabbits, they are everywhere! Picnic tables do need updating.

Google
We absolutely love Bald Eagle State Park. The beach is great. Plenty of picnic locations and boat launches. We enjoy spending the day cruising from one end of the lake to the other or just floating in one spot for awhile with random breaks to jump in the water and cool off. Well worth the 90 minute drive. Pack a cooler, grab some towels and sunscreen, and take the kids to connect with nature.

Google
The park itself was beautiful and quite. Campground was great, roomy and private (most sites). Great place to fish and relax on the beach. The "snack bar" at the beach, I recommend not eating there. Very pricey and very slow! We waited 30 mins for 2 hotdogs and fries. So pack a lunch and all will be great!

Google
Modern camping is in good shape with one section of full hookup sites being brand new. Hiking trails are mostly mowed paths that are easy to follow with a few wooded sections. The trails on the other side of the highway from the park office were not maintained and un-hikable during our visit. Overall, with the exception of the campground, the park was pretty vacant in early June. Get outside and take advantage of our PA parks!

Google
Beautiful park! So big it would take days to see it all. Nice lake to swim, fish, boating, paddle boarding. Lots of cool bird nest. Only was there for one day will definitely be back

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous park with so much to do and see. They have a full campground with hookups and a rustic one also. You can rent anything from a boat to a yurt or cabin. The rangers are amazing people. You can swim, fish and there is hunting lands nearby.

Yelp
WOW. INCREDIBLE. We had a reunion at pavilion number four, which was clean, spacious, and the seating was more than adequate The park itself is in a beautiful setting Surrounded by mountains. We had the opportunity to do a number of boating options. Pontoon. Speed boat. All 17 of us had a great time riding on the lake. The guy who is caring for us dockside was fabulous. You can't go wrong when visiting this beautiful state park.

Yelp
This is an absolutely stunning place. 5 stars if you're just sitting on the lake enjoying the scenery. It's also very VERY clean, and there are nice amenities. However, there were 1 million geese here pooping all over the place, so as you swim in the lake, you're in a soup of their poo and feathers. There was also poo all over the shoreline. It was nasty. Other people didn't seem to be bothered.

Yelp
Beautiful area. The staff at the visitor's center was very friendly and helpful. There is a nice big lake with a beach, fishing opportunities, and boating access. The park also offers hiking trails and camping as well. It is also home to the Nature Inn, which is a very nice looking eco-hotel with a fantastic location overlooking the lake and forests. There are a number of shelters, picnic tables, and restrooms available around so there are a lot of options for picnicking too.

Yelp
A great park to relax on the beach by the lake! It's free to enter AND free to park what more could you ask for

Yelp
We love it here. Feels like "real camping" and yet there are amenities nearby. We had water and electric at our site. Good fishing in the lake. Nice for swimming too. Friendly staff and other campers were friendly too. Clean bathrooms. Seems like a welcoming place for our multi-racial family. We'll be back.

Yelp
This is an amazing state park. We stayed for a weekend in our RV and went to the beach. The RV sites are large and had enough room for our travel trailer and truck.

Yelp
We loved it here! Our first time visiting and we'll definitely be back. We stayed for the week in the deluxe cabin- Bluegill. The cabin was beautiful, clean, secluded, close to the bathrooms and water. It was handicapped accessible which worked out great for our daughter on crutches. There was a sand beach and a nice little concession stand that sold multiple food items as well as PSU creamery ice cream. We rented a pontoon boat and had a wonderful afternoon on the water. Easy online rental, the guys running the place were very helpful, thorough and friendly. The Nature Inn was beautiful if you're more into a hotel rather than camping. The man at the front desk was great- friendly and helpful. We also stopped in at the main office to ask multiple questions. The lady there was the same- helpful, friendly, and thorough. We bought magnets for our car and a couple t-shirts. It was a wonderful vacation for our family!

Yelp
Fantastic state park with picnic pavilions, sand beach, marina, boat rentals (power and non power) and plenty of nature to enjoy. Free admission, usually not very busy, and extremely relaxing.

Yelp
Ok for the price. Beautiful scenery around, close to Lake. Not all sites have electric , they told us originally generator could be run, assumed till 12 am at least -they made us turn off a 9pm even though ours is quiet. Bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. I would pay more to have better facilities. They need to look at how Michigan handles their State parks and actually cleans their facilities twice daily with separate showers that lock with solid door and are unisex. Sad I'd like to see my home state step it up.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a beautiful state park! You do not have to pay to get in or to use any of the facilities (like swimming but you have to pay for camping). The park offers camping (modern and rustic), hiking (trails are easy and short), an Inn (the staff was so amazing - they lent me sunscreen since I had forgotten mine), and a lake with swimming and boating. At the swimming beach there is sand, grass and shade. Bathrooms, changing rooms and one (very cold) outdoor shower to rinse off. I even discovered a dispenser of free sun screen which was helpful considering I had forgotten mine. There are gas stations (Sheetz and Snappy's) and restaurants close by.

Yelp
Located at the Nexus of PA. Travel time from Philly is about 31/2 hours. This park is well maintained with many activities to choose from. Camping, Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Mtn Biking, and Nature/Birding. Camping - Three campsite loops. One is for primitive camping, the other two have electric and paved pads with picnic tables and fire/grill rings. Water stations are located throughout. Clean modern bath house with hot water. Nice Volleyball court. One loop is doggie friendly with a doggie run area. Boating/Fishing - Marina, several boat ramps and a ton of parking. Hiking/Btn Biking - Tons of well maintained trails for all levels. Nature/Birding - We saw a ton of birds and butterflies including a Bald Eagle, Woodchucks, Deer and even a Momma Bear with her cub. There are several scenic view point. Also, this year they built a brand new Eco-Friendly Inn which is amazing. So amazing, we are going to stay there New Years. Other opportunities: Penn State, City of Bellafonte and Scenic Elk Drive. For additional info - http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/baldeagle.aspx Enjoy, Eddie

Yelp
A good overall state park. The beach was nice and very pretty. The fishing sucked however. That made me mad. Might have just been time of day but the fishing was bad. Anyway I would recommend if you don't care about fishing.

Yelp
Such a sweet place to hike and enjoy nature! The folks from the park office directed us to the Skyline Trail and it was perfect for our afternoon off. There's so much to see and take in here and it was a beautiful experience for me and my sister to share together.

Yelp
Bald Eagle state park is located in Centre County, not far from State College Pa. It measures over 5900 acres, and has a lake thats over 1700 acres. This is one of the bigger lakes besides raystown in the state of pa. Hiking, camping, boating. all about 2 and a half hours northwest of harrisburg, great fora day trip or weekend getaway! We visited just for a day when we were in the area. It was a monday of course, and a lot of the attractions nearby were closed, so we had to just drive around and enjoy the views.

Yelp
Pennsylvania is full of Beautiful State Parks, and Bald Eagle State Park is one worth mentioning. Situated not far from the crazy busy US Interstate 80 is a pristine natural area with lots to offer the nature lover in any family. Bald Eagle offers a large 1700 acre plus lake for boating as well as ample hiking trails that cross each other all throughout the park so you can make the perfect size hike or XC Ski. Bald Eagle also offers a large campground with both electric, and non electric sites. The one thing that makes this park much different than others in the state is the fairly new "Nature Inn at Bald Eagle" This is a Gold LEAD Certified hotel smack dab in the middle of nature overlooking the lake and mountains. If you happen to be traveling on Interstate 80, and are looking for lodging I would highly recommend taking a short detour to Bald Eagle, and stay at this beautiful Inn rather than the average highway roadside hotel. Overall Bald Eagle has a lot to offer, and should not be missed if looking for great State Parks in Pennsylvania.

Yelp
The Bald Eagle State Park (AKA the Blanchard Dam) is located pretty much smack middle of PA. It is roughly 600 acres and has a large lake area as well that you can fish in, boat, and swim. They also provide pavillions to picnic as well as tables, They have modern bathrooms that are handicapped accessible as well. They have a butterfly trail in the summer that doubles as a cross country ski trail in the winter. Driving thru you are sure to see many deer, groundhogs, and may even be able to see a few nesting Bald Eagles in the Park.

Yelp
Day 4 of the mc ride found us here. This state park has lovely mountain views! There is a small swimming beach, perfect for the hot day, and plenty of camping space and hiking the trails was perfect for the cramped legs. I think i love it here! We saw lots of wildlife, and loved just hanging out in the shade. It was the perfect respite from the road. I didn't want to leave. Next time we spend a few days here.

Nana K.

Yelp
Went on a butterfly trail, which was beautiful, took about an hour to complete, easiet hike in the park. Keep in mind that it is an open field, with very little shade. The skyline trail and the oak trail are in the wooded area, great place to avoid the summer heat, got to see a forest mouse, spiders, chipmunks, but no bold eagles :(. All the trails were easy, without any strenuous uphill climbs, perfect for young kids. P.S. the trails have secretly stashed plastic boxes with park maps and stamps that the park rangers have hidden as a very nice touch for the kids. We were able to find 2 out of the 3 trails we went on. The park also has a beach area, boats are available for rent. The park is located within a 30 min drive from the state college.

Sue R.

Yelp
Beautiful! Has everything you need. Modern campsites with electric, rustic ones, yurts, cabins and a Nature Inn for those who want to enjoy the beauty from the comfortable but sustainable "hotel" setting. Great bike trails, a lake to swim and boat and scheduled events throughout the year.

Tim D.

Yelp
This is not one of the better parks in the PA system. Lake was a cesspool of goose/bird waste. Showers at bathhouse in campground did not have hot water. Otherwise, it was fine. Nice area and good hiking trails. The park and campground is well maintained. We have camped at most of the parks in PA over the past 8 years and would say that Bald Eagle is below average for the system. If you are looking for a State Park in that general area, go to Greenwood Furnace.
