We hosted our wedding welcome party at Balderdash and it was the BEST decision we ever made. Christian and his team at Balderdash went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make it the best event we could have ever imagined. From start to finish, they helped us plan an event that perfectly met our vision. They are helpful, kind, thoughtful, and so much fun. It's a stunning venue and our guests absolutely loved it. We truly can't say enough good things about this place and these people -- they are simply the BEST. We are so so so grateful <3 Photo credit to Abigail Fenton.

Google
This was the most perfect venue for our wedding. We got married last weekend and although the weather didn’t cooperate, the crew and staff at Balderdash made everything perfect. I cannot thank them enough for the most beautifully decorated barn in the best wedding ever!

Google
What a lovely day. The views here are spectacular. It is kid and dog friendly. Spent a leisurely afternoon listening to music , drinking good wine (they have beer and non-alcoholic options) and there was a food truck. Plenty of Adirondack-style chairs or tables with umbrellas. And for wine drinkers...the grapes come from California and are processed here.

Google
We hosted our wedding welcome at Balderdash, and it was absolutely wonderful. The property is stunning, and Christian and his team were so kind and communicative throughout the process. Christian went above and beyond to help us coordinate a last-minute concert for our event, which made the evening even more special. Our guests raved about the beauty of the property and the warmth of the staff. We can’t wait to return to enjoy the wine and the views!

Google
We happened to stop here on a Friday night and this was definitely the place to be. Was a great site, and was definitely popular. Oddly even though there were a lot of people, everything moved along smoothly and could have easily accommodated twice as many. There was even a wood fire pizza food truck onsite and you can bring your own food/snacks but no drinks. It was a little unplanned so we just had one of the frozen blushes a piece which was to die for. Highly recommend you to try one. There was a guy in the corner playing live music and the views down the hill was great. If you lived close buy... this would definitely be the place to spend good adult evening out on a regular basis.

Google
We cannot say enough wonderful things about Christian, Donna, and the entire team at Balderdash Cellars! This past weekend we hosted a large-scale wedding welcome celebration at the winery with nearly 170 guests. The event required coordination with an out-of-state caterer, a local catering company for production and service, a tent, numerous rentals, and lots of moving pieces. Every single detail — and every extra request — was met with grace, kindness, and professionalism. Christian and Donna made us feel completely supported and cared for throughout the process, and their team went above and beyond to ensure our couple and their guests had the most incredible experience. Balderdash is not only stunning, but it is also one of our absolute favorite spots in the Berkshires to kick off a wedding weekend. If you’re looking for a place that will wow your guests and work with you like true partners, this is the place. We are so grateful to this amazing team!

Lovely atmosphere with live music and a great view of the pond and surrounding hills. Plenty of space for parking and sitting.

Google
Honestly the best winery experience we have had! Absolutely beautiful setting - large grassy areas, gravel area with tables and chairs, cool indoor area overlooking to wine making process. The “take a chair” policy is such a novel and ideal way for set up - it was great to grab chairs, a folding table, and set up wherever we wanted to for the day. They had amazing wines and the flights were a very cute set up.

Yelp
This is a beautiful setting with ample seating and delicious wine! A perfect place to spend a weekend

Yelp
I've been to this winery a few times now and it never disappoints. This is one of my favorite wineries I've ever been to! I love the view here. Last time, we came on a Saturday afternoon and it was crowded inside, but there's plenty of seating outside. There was also live music and it was a great vibe. You can bring your own food, but they also have a food truck outside usually. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The person helping us this time let us try the wine before we bought it which was nice. I have gotten the flight once before, but the amount they give you to try for each wine is very small and for the price, I recommend just getting a glass of wine. My favorite is the truth serum rose blend.

Yelp
We stopped in while we were visiting the area. We happened to stop up on a day they had entertainment and a food truck. It was nice place lots of seats to accommodate everyone without being on top of each other. You can bring food in from outside if you do not like the food truck that is there. We did a flight of wine. The wines were ok. Our favorite ended up being the frozen wine drink they had . Definitely, worth the stop.

Yelp
Great spot to relax with a beautiful view, Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, and indoor seating. Live music inside and amazing! Wine is $11 a glass. Children and dog friendly. Gets very busy.

Yelp
While on a road trip to the northeast, we stopped by Balderdash Cellars for a wine flight. It is on a beautiful property, with plenty of seating inside and outside. The wine was delicious, and also the flight was served in the cutest vials. The staff working were wonderful and patient, helping us make decisions on what to try. They have games to play while you're enjoying your wine, which is fun! Definitely worth stopping if you're looking for a beautiful winery to visit.

Richard C.

Yelp
Great place to hang out, listen to music and enjoy a glass of wine. They had a food truck the day we visited but you can bring your own food

Yelp
Great wines with amazing views! Highly recommend the Pinot Noir! They do flights of five pours. Great seating outside facing Richmond Pond. When we visited this weekend they also had a number of cute Halloween decorations and a selection of pumpkins and gourds.

Yelp
Visited this winery on two separate occasions. Once in the fall of 2024 and then again in February 2025, while staying at a friend's house at Jiminy Peak. The atmosphere, the wine, the owners, the clientele, and the scenery are absolutely gorgeous. Always a great time! Always very welcoming! Always a lot of fun. Highly recommend stopping by here. Donna is the best. Friendly, funny, and kind.

Yelp
Great place went there on a whim while in Lenox for a concert highly recommend service ambiance were great good wine Too

Yelp
We had a coed baby shower for our daughter and our son in law it was a fabulous day!! Donna and Christian are super accommodating, full of energy. Balderdash has incredible karma and make everyone feel special!! Such a great place for a party or just a glass of wine and relax!!!

Yelp
A must visit while you're in town!! Balderdash exceeded our expectations on all fronts. We came on a hopping Saturday afternoon and enjoyed live music, board games, tasty food, a bustling crowd, a beautiful view, and INCREDIBLE wine (the Cab Sav is divine). More than that, we experienced the most memorable hospitality we've had in decades. When we were stuck without a ride after close, the amazingly generous owner (Donna), insisted on driving 5 strangers to different hotels in separate directions. Ubers wouldn't connect and cab services were unavailable. Donna picked up on the stress of two groups instantly and brought her car around to take us home. We are eternally grateful for her generosity and spirit. She made us feel like family which is a rarity these days. This act of kindness speaks volumes to the passion and care the Hansons put into their craft. Please, add Balderdash to your list!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite day trips from the Capital District. Plan to arrive close to opening time at noon because it is packed by 1. During the winter months seating is scarce, lines for the bathroom and wine service are long and it is very loud. Summer time, same issue with lines but you can snag adirondack chairs and tables outside and enjoy the scenery. The winery provides some board and card games and also live music. You can also bring your own snacks if there is not a food truck that strikes your fancy. The majority of grapes are imported from Cali and also some from the Finger Lakes. I recommend a bottle of Truth Serum to bring back home. It is my favorite at the winery.

Prakash M.

Yelp
Very enjoyable ambiance with good selection of wines, live music, and most important, good service n hosts. Perfect for a sunday afternoon.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Balderdash has a nice view. Organized. The wines were not sour. The girls who helped us were kind. I am not a drinker, but I would say it was quite a nice afternoon I had! We bought several bottles of wine to keep in the home for future company.

Rick B.

Yelp
Great place from May to October to visit, great wine year round. The vibe there is laid back , fun and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Lawrence E.

Yelp
A surprise, a joy, a jem, these are just my first impressions. Service beyond par, wines that delight the senses with infusions of berries and nuts, and an inspiring ambiance. After this emersion, I've returned multiple times to the same delight.

Yelp
I visited here in late August while visiting the Berkshires. It was on a Wednesday, and it was the only Vineyard open in the area. The drive up was very pretty and I was very grateful for Google maps because it is kind of out there (at least for me). We were able to do a tasting of five wines - you're actually just getting a flight, and not a traditional tasting where they would tell you about the wine. Four were their choice and the final one was our choice. My favorite was their dessert wine and I bought a bottle, since I am not from the area and will not visit again unless I go to the Berkshires again. The tasting was $11. The people working there were very friendly and helpful with their suggestions. The views are beautiful! We went pretty early (around 1pm) and I didn't see a food truck. We only stayed one hour because we had a two hour ride back home and I wanted to beat traffic. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely return. I would also recommend this winery to others.

Yelp
The grounds are gorgeous and the weekend events are fun with yummy food trucks - especially the Oysters

Yelp
5 Star Experience! Lovely setting on top of a hill with a view of the lake -- The winery (that also serves a beer or two) is open during Covid Times with limits on reservations and outside seating only. We chose the covered patio over the lawn seating as we didn't want to bring out own chairs, etc. We shared a bottle of their Cab which was quite good -- and gulped down some lobster rolls 'n chips. They had a guy playing acoustic guitar on the lawn (which is HUGE) and it's a doggie friendly place too. We will make this a regular stop during our visits to The Berkshires (from California). And that's no Balderdash!

Joseph W.

Yelp
This the BEST wedding venue ever! We have been going here since they opened and were thrilled to find out our son and future daughter in law were planning their wedding here. Half the guests came from the eastern part of the state and had never been here. They could not believe what bucolic views they were seeing of the surrounding mountains. (one of the guest teased that it must be a green screen!) The local guests who said it was there first visit were already making plans to come back the following week. Then there is the wine. Every wine you have is made under the guidance of the owner Christian. While he is the winemaker, his wife Donna is the little engine that makes everything run without a hitch. Whether you are planning an event or just want to stop by for just a glass this the place to go. Nancy and Joe Wilk

Courtney L.

Yelp
Great views and venue. The wine tastings come in chemical flasks. This was cool because I am a science nerd. The food truck on site was very tasty. This is where the good news stops. The wine was not good. We tried all of them plus had a beer. We left without purchase. This is unusual for us considering we love to buy wine from different parts of our travels. It was an experience but nothing special. If you want good wine you need to go elsewhere.

Yelp
A wonderful place. The owner is so friendly and engages with everyone! The wine, the atmosphere is perfect!!!

Yelp
This was one of the best experiences we had during our time in the Berkshires. When we arrived, our car got stuck in the mud, and they helped us get it out. This was only a reflection of the hospitality to come. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and attentive, regardless of the fact that they were very busy. The views were absolutely breathtaking. This will be a place we come to and recommend from now on.

Billy S.

Yelp
Balderdash is hands down one of the best experiences I have had out in years. From the moment my siblings and I walked up we were greeted warmly, found a place to sit, and paired great wine with amazing views. Anytime you find yourself in the area be sure to stop in. Donna was amazing and made us feel like family. Balderdash is a rare find genuinely making the world a better place.

Sindhuja K.

Yelp
If you want to spend a quiet Sunday evening sipping wine and enjoying the sun & beautiful views, this is the place to go. The wine is so good here - the Riesling is my fav. It's crisp and dry and a great summer wine. They have Adirondack chairs and rockers but no food so just bring some snacks!
google avatar

Karon S.

Yelp
Delightful setting on a huge lawn overlooking a lake, with stunning mountain views. Spectacular colors in the Autumn. During Covid we needed a reservation and were happy with the safety precautions the staff and customers take. They even draw a chalk square around your reserved section to help everyone keep their space - great idea. The live music and being doggie friendly are big pluses! Bring chairs and sit on the lawn, or reserve a spot on the covered patio. Helpful friendly staff.
google avatar

Katherine W.

Yelp
Talk about a beautiful experience! This was the highlight of our trip to the Berkshires. I've never been to a winery with such jaw-dropping views. The winery is open from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Reservations can be made online (with a $1 booking fee per person). I loved the sangria and Red Blend #3. The food truck that was serving dinner was extremely slow during our visit, but the staff at the winery were helpful and apologetic. Most people were using the winery's patio seating and chairs. I'd consider bringing my own picnic blanket in the future to get a closer view of the water.

Yelp
Beautiful, beautiful location. Servers always willing to help you pick a wine that you'll like.

Kayleigh F.

Yelp
Amazing winery! We went here for a bachelorette party and had such a fun time. The Sauvignon Blanc was delicious and we had the whole barn to ourselves for the most part. Donna was so kind and the staff kept coming out to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Maddie G.

Yelp
Came here with my grandparents and our family this past weekend. Live music, food trucks, and delicious wine. BYOFood + dog friendly. We loved it! Very easy setup with the hundreds of chairs they have available to move where you'd like on the vineyard. Plenty of seating under shade of umbrellas as well. Definitely recommend for a chill, fun family afternoon!

Jennie B.

Yelp
Had the best afternoon celebrating my bachelorette here! The music was amazing, wine was delicious, and the service was so great. Donna is so friendly and keeps the vibes high! Thank you, Balderdash! Big perk is the food trucks outside!

Michael T.

Yelp
Madeline was our server, she was amazing. She was so friendly and down to earth. She made our day a great experience. This was our first time visiting but we will definitely be back. The wine and the service were both amazing!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
This was such a cute winery with a great selection of wines and the atmosphere is super chill. We will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to spend time with some dear friends at Balderdash this past weekend. We had a large party, which included several children and a puppy. Luckily, they could easily accommodate us and we had a great spot next to the live music. The grounds are beautiful and the setup is ideal, especially with COVID still a concern. There is plenty of space between groups and the waitstaff are hustling to provide great service. Best of all, you can either indulge in their food truck or bring your own spread to enjoy with their wines. And the kids entertained themselves while we had our adult time! I ordered the rosé slushie, and it was just boozy enough while still being very refreshing. The rest of our group split a bottle of the rosé and I got one to take home. I would love to come back and do a tasting! My only knock is that I wish they had more umbrellas or shaded areas available for extremely hot, sunny days. We were baking on the lawn. Luckily the kids set up shop under a nearby shade tree and we could keep any eye on them. But we now know to prep for that next time.

Eric S.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, had a terrific time. Donna goes above and beyond to care for her customers. Recommend the Truth Serum! Thank you, Donna. You're the best!

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor space. Well done job in designing the seating to help ensure the health and safety of all visitors. Wine and beer selection was great and the freshly prepared menu items made it an even better experience. Chefs worked the outdoor grills and kitchen to perfection. Live music! Many visitors brought their own picnic snacks. Kids and dogs welcome. Best of all the owner and staff were so friendly, efficient and truly appreciative of all who visited. Really a very enjoyable experience. Not my first time and won't be my last for sure.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
We went there for a birthday party and it was beautiful. I loved the atmosphere and the area which had absolutely spectacular views of the Berkshire mountains. So fun to see the huge wine barrels and taste some of the wonderful wines. I would have given this 5 stars had it not been so cold in there that night.
google avatar

Jackie F.

Yelp
The hours on goggle are not accurate, I believe. But this is a very amazing winery!! Extremely friendly staff, beautiful place, and great wine!!
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Great wines, great atmosphere, and the food truck was delicious! Very friendly staff! Always a great time!
google avatar

Teresa A.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here on a road trip. We had read about it ahead of time and it lived up to the hype. We booked a noon time slot and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on the lawn overlooking the lake. We ordered a bottle of their Cabernet and we really enjoyed the flavors. The food truck offered lots of options as well. We'd love to go back when there is live music!
google avatar

Nicholas M.

Yelp
We loved the wine and beautiful solo artist musician there really added a nice vibe. Great atmosphere!

Jaime T.

Yelp
Beautiful! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Owner Donna goes the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. I recommend the Riesling!!
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Diamond in the rough. Beautiful view from a rocking chair or Adirondack chair ( eww plastic though) and some of the wines were surprisingly good...liked the Shiraz the most for sure!
google avatar

Heather F.

Yelp
This dog friendly winery is nothing short of pleasant. The flight comes in test tubes and you can take a glass to pour into. They sell food and I saw people bringing they're own snacks as well. The wine was good but what makes this place special was the view. There is amphitheater seating facing the river so that as many patrons as possible can get an uninterrupted view while they enjoy the wine.
google avatar

Kate E.

Yelp
As of June 2018, they are located at a beautiful barn overlooking Richmond pond!!! Wine is delicious, owners are present, walking around greeting customers and sharing the joy of their recent location change and upcoming expansion. I think it's going to be even better in the months to come so well worth a visit. The barn had a rustic feel, the locals were very kind and friendly. We also enjoyed the live music for a Saturday afternoon. Chardonnay was my favorite wine there! We will be definitely going back!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Make sure to stop by Balderdash Cellars. This is always a special tasting because you will always be rubbing elbows with the winemakers. I had the pleasure of interviewing Arielle for my blog. Check out her winemaker interview at www.threadsandvino.net. All of their wines are DELICIOUS!! Personally I suggest the Viognier and Syrah! You get a hands on view of the winemaking process while enjoying some delicious vino. A great place to stop on a Saturday afternoon. Location: 502 East Street (rear of the building) Pittsfield, MA 01201 Tasting Hours: Saturdays 1-5pm, please call to set up private/group tastings Tasting Options: Tastings are $8/person and refundable with purchase of $50/person.

Yelp
So I should definitely preface this with the following: we lived in Napa for four years, so our taste for wine is a little....spoiled. An interesting little winery/cellar located in what appears to be a basement. It is a little hard to find as there are not any large signs and you have to drive behind the building in order to see the parking lot and entrance. Upon entering you see a crowded small space full of barrels and around 8 or so tables set up in the middle. We were quickly greeted and seated and decided to partake in the wine tasting. The price was very reasonable and they offered a discount if you purchased enough wine from your tasting price. With each tasting came a brief story of the winemakers family. I felt like I knew a lot about the guy by the end of the entire experience. After the first three stories however, our table began to get a little over it. A couple stories were cute, many seemed very random and pointless. I want to know about the grapes, the process, the flavors, the goal of the blend..how much time the servers talked about the winemaker's story honestly made us feel like he was a little conceited. Not even the best winemakers in Napa do that at their vineyards.... The wine itself was decent considering the area and the fact that grapes aren't really grown here. Have I had better in New England? Definitely. But there were one or two that I'd definitely purchase and drink again. Overall it was a fun experience if you're in the area looking for something to do. But definitely not extraordinary by any means.

Yelp
The best anniversary surprise winery! Stoped by after a hike when we saw all the cars and even though we didn't have a reservation they were so kind to accommodate us! They handled covid social distancing and cleanliness very well. The live music was great! You could tell the owners really care, we felt like we could be part of the family! And of course the wine was awesome! We had a bottle of 'Til Death do Us Part' to celebrate our anniversary. I feel like we could spend every anniversary here :). Special shout out to the food truck "Biggins Diggins" who made a yummy lobster roll with a little butter on a potato roll, not to mention "Lenoue Evans".
