A gem of a place! Beautiful tearoom with a lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. The haggis with poached egg was incredible and a special but should have a permanent place on the menu. The scones were light and fluffy and the best I have had. Will be back to this beautiful tea room.

The jacket potatoes with Heinz beans and tasty bacon with side salad best ever. Goats cheese with cranberry delicious. Loose tea always a bonus. Even the free bottled tap water was good. Great to get our dog in

After waiting a while in the dreary rain, we were finally greeted with a smile and bought to our table. We ordered a goats cheese and cranberry sauce on sourdough dish which my husband really enjoyed. Rarebit was nice but for me a little bland, hot chocolate was delicious and the Scones were really yummy, light and fluffy and just perfect. Overall would highly recommend and cant wait to visit again the next time we’re in Grasmere!

We loved Baldry’s so much we came back to Grasmere to eat there a second time! Although their afternoon tea is where they shine, we actually ended up having lunch there twice. Their egg mayonnaise and corned beef with horseradish mustard were both delicious. Obviously their tea and scones were a must. I got the fruit scone with lemon curd (pictured). It’s also worth mentioning that they had very clean bathrooms, making it a perfect midday stop. We will certainly return if we are ever back in the Lake District!

Best scone I've eaten, wow. Light and fluffy and delicious. Great tea selection too and it's well priced. We were very lucky to get a table at the end of the day after a short queue. Very glad to do so. Well worth the wait. Toilets are a sight to behold as well...

Great lunch spot in Grasmere, the sandwiches use good quality ingredients and the soup is always delicious and clearly home made.

Lovely place for a post-hike refuel. They have great gluten-free options, including amazing GF scones!

Excellent lunch at Baldry's. Tea was perfect and a good price, quiche was very nice as was the Rarebit. Been here before and it is still one of the nicer cafes in Grasmere. What I really like is that tea is served in delightfully old-fashioned China teacups... Perfect. It's also a nice history of Baldry's the photographer who I assume owned the building in the 1890s.

Yelp
Really charming and cute tea room in Grasmere! I enjoyed the atmosphere, decor, and learned about Baldry via printed cards at our table. Cool and interesting history. For lunch, the food we ordered was good but a bit small and not super satisfying. Corned Beef and Mustard sandwich was on the smaller end with a tiny slice of corned beef. It was mostly bread, but will say the fresh baked bread is good. Enjoyed the Quiche of the Day (cheese and leek), which came with a bit of salads. Supplemented with an extra sausage side. The savory cheese scone with chutney, butter, and cheese was yummy!

Yelp
Abysmal experience at Baldry's yesterday. We live in Cumbria and have taken friends there in the past as the food and staff have been good. Yesterday, as is sometimes the case, there was a queue and people were waiting for seats to become available. A member of staff frequently appeared at the door but failed to communicate to anyone in the queue that the restaurant was closing early. After some 20 minutes of queuing she eventually spoke up, having wasted the time of my group plus people queuing ahead of us and behind us. This prompted an uncharacteristic exchange from me but without any acknowledgement from the staff member that through her thoughtlessness and utter incompetence, she had wasted what probably amounted to over an hour of people's time. To potential customers...be aware of the utter lack of respect and customer service you may encounter at this place. To the owners of this establishment...you are ultimately responsible for how your staff treat customers and if you place customer engagement anywhere near business profitability will ensure this is addressed to prevent future potential customers having their time wasted through the sheer incompetence of the staff you employ.

Yelp
Stumbled in here for lunch. We had just arrived in town and it was near our hotel. It is a very pleasant place with an interesting menu. I may just have chosen the wrong thing (quiche of the day), but it is not something I would have again -- crust was more like a flatbread in texture than like a nice flaky crust. Hot spiced cider was very good. My wife liked her soup. Service is a little odd -- there is table service, but they expect you to line up in a crowded aisle at the back to pay. Our table was near the door, and something about this door seemed to invite people to leave it open despite a breezy day. My wife and i each closed it once, and a woman waiting for a table was nice enough to close it another time. Not a bad place but I would probably not go back, which makes it hard to go above 3 stars.

Yelp
Baldry's is a lovely spot for afternoon tea in Grasmere, worth going as it's one of the prettiest and most picturesque locations in the lakes and is also dead central so accessible from north or south lakes. Baldrys does generous cream teas and all kinds of cakes, chocolate, lemon, bakewell, malteaser. It will be very difficult to choose!

Yelp
Very welcoming and excellent food. Easily the best food we had on our visit to the Lake District this summer. Loved the homemade bread and the accompanying salads were delicious.
