15 Best Hiking Trails in Sedona, According to Locals

"A leisurely 3-mile out-and-back with only about 295 feet of elevation gain that follows Oak Creek and serves as a good acclimation walk to Sedona's 4,350-foot elevation and dry climate; the route is also noted for creekside beauty and access to a local vortex site favored by some visitors." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. The Baldwin loop is accessible from a couple of different locations. We parked at Cathedral trail and hiked over via Templeton trail, which makes the hike a little longer (although parking there can be an issue but what else is new). This is one of my favorite hikes in Sedona because it passes through a shady tree covered area along the creek as well as red rock desert with amazing views. Definitely recommended as it provides a variety of Sedona experiences. Just FYI the parking area at the Baldwin trailhead seems to be less busy but getting to it is a bit of a chore.

This may have been our favorite hike. Amazing views and scenery. Mostly an easy hike with a few scrambles and rocks. We were to the trail head parking lot by 730a and there was only a few cars in the lot. Plenty of places for excellent photo ops.

Be sure to cross the street to get to the actual trailhead! We were very happy to get a parking spot right away around 10:30 am. The hike was good, circling around a mountain. I was sad that the creek was completely dried up, and we went a little late in the morning so it was already getting hot. This would be ideal before 10 am because there’s not much shade.

This trail head leads you down to Buddha beach. I’ve never seen so much water there before. Usually we come in May but came in March this time. Usually there’s rock formations you can sit on and wade in creek and find precious stones, but Mother Nature had other plans this time around. The water level was high and quickly moving. It gave me a whole new perspective on this beautiful spot I love to visit when I’m here. I’ve added photos from previous trips too so you can see the difference with the water levels.

Limited parking and 5$ to park. Washroom on site. Gravel road for about 5 minutes to get to parking. Nice trail to hike, also passes by the river. Much much longer than Cathedral Rock Trailhead. Recommend going to cathedral rock trailhead unless you want a (difficult) challenge hiking to Cathedral Rock. Amazing views of course once you start climbing.

I stopped by Red rock information center and recommended a trail course, so I found this place, and I was able to enjoy the natural scenery comfortably because of the 2.1-mile Loop trail. I think it's more important to collect information by receiving recommendations from experts than in this known place. It's a little uphill on a flat not difficult and take a chair and feel the Vortex of chatherol rock. We had a good time with our two puppies. I highly recommend

My better half and I hiked this 3-mile loop with a brief tangent to the Oak Creek. The red rock features nearby are gorgeous and in beautiful contrast to greenery of trees and blue sky. Pay attention to the trail markings and/or a trail map as it’s easy to go off course at times.
